Had an amazing experience at Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor- Hatibagan outlet . Excellent Bengali cuisine is available here. There are many options to choose from. The ambience is equally pleasing. The service is prompt. We ordered Gondhoraaj Chicken Pakora ( must try) Gupir Thali (worth the price) Basanti Polao ( must try) Bhooter pora kalo Khansir Mangsho. Every dish was lip-smacking and of the best quality but I have two complaint: Kachalanka Chicken which wasn't warm when they served and the pieces of mutton which was very small, the bowl was mainly full of gravy, not worth the price but flavour was good.. Overall, this is a must-visit place if you are a lover of Bengali cuisine. Total cost: approx Rs.1800

Recently, some of our friends took us to Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor in Hatibagan for our Aiburobhat celebration, and it turned out to be such a wonderful experience. The ambience was lively and full of character, and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. We ordered the Bhooter Rajar AiburoBhat Thali 1 (₹1399) and AiburoBhat Thali 2 (₹999), and both were absolutely amazing! Every item was well-prepared, flavorful, and truly felt like a celebration on a plate. Overall, it was a memorable experience — amazing food, great vibe, and perfect hospitality. Would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for an authentic Bengali thali experience, especially for special occasions!

Good location, walking distance if u take auto, upto Hatibagan. Booked at ground floor, the atmosphere was good. They have a tradition of clapping each others hands before serving the food, which is fun. In staters section, posto bora was wonderful, mouthwatering, so was the fish fry. But the illish finger had fishbones in it. In the main course, tried basmati rice, chanar dalna, mutton dakbanglow , daab chingri, bhetki paturi. Most of this were good, especially ,the mutton, chanar dalna was top notch. But the bhetki paturi was bad, a bit too much sour, not recommended. Coming to the portion, one portion of each item was enough for 2 people, in my opinion.

Review of Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor, Hatibagan

If you are a true Bengali food lover and have a soft corner for childhood nostalgia, then Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor in Hatibagan is a must-visit. Inspired by Satyajit Ray's iconic children's film Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne, the restaurant blends traditional Bengali cuisine with a fun, ghostly theme that appeals to both adults and kids. The moment you step in, you’re transported into a world of fantasy, folklore, and flavor.

Ambience and Theme The restaurant's ambience is one of its strongest points. Dim lighting, themed walls painted with characters from Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne, and background music from Satyajit Ray’s movies set the perfect mood. Every nook has a haunted, theatrical feel — not scary, but whimsically spooky.

Authentic Bengali Cuisine The menu boasts a wide variety of traditional Bengali dishes, from Shorshe Ilish and Kosha Mangsho to Bhapa Chingri and Pulao. Each dish is cooked with precision and served with love. The flavors are rich, authentic, and true to Bengali culinary heritage.

Unique Presentation The presentation of food is delightfully creative. Items are often named after ghost characters or scenes from Bengali folklore. Even the plates and serving bowls have rustic, old-world charm, adding to the thematic consistency.

Quality and Quantity The portion sizes are generous, and the food is freshly prepared. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients — the fish is fresh, the spices balanced, and nothing feels oily or overcooked. Perfect for a hearty Bengali lunch or dinner.

Service and Staff Behavior The staff are courteous, well-informed, and very prompt. They explain dishes to customers who may not be familiar with Bengali cuisine and often offer good recommendations based on your taste preferences.

Pricing While it isn’t the cheapest eatery in town, the prices are quite reasonable considering the experience, food quality, and thematic setting. It's perfect for special family outings or for hosting guests from outside Bengal.

Cleanliness and Hygiene Cleanliness is well maintained throughout the restaurant, including the kitchen (visible through a glass panel) and the restrooms. Sanitization and hygiene protocols are strictly followed, especially after COVID.

Accessibility and Location Located in the heart of Hatibagan, the restaurant is easily accessible by public transport. However, parking can be a bit of a challenge, especially during the evening hours.

Whether you're a fan of Satyajit Ray, a lover of Bengali food, or simply someone looking for a themed dining experience, Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor offers a delightful escape from the ordinary. It's a beautiful blend of storytelling, culture, and cuisine — a restaurant that feeds both your appetite and your...

Disappointing Atmosphere and Service
:

Theme Overload: The restaurant heavily leans on the "Gupiy Gayen Bagha Bayen" theme. While it might be charming at first glance, the decor feels like a direct copy of the movie - from the graphic design to the logo and even the interior. This overreliance on the theme comes across as gimmicky rather than creating a truly unique dining experience.

Dim Lighting and Uncomfortable Seating: The low lighting in our seating area was a major concern. It made it difficult to see our food properly and could potentially be a safety hazard. Additionally, the quality of the seating left something to be desired.

Chaotic Management: Our experience at the Hatibagan branch was marred by disorganized management. The staff seemed confused, and the manager overseeing the ground floor seating appeared unfamiliar with the ingredients used in their own dishes. We also faced frustration with having to repeat orders multiple times.

Confusing Entry Process: The wait to be seated was lengthy, especially considering the hot weather. The entry process itself was confusing, as there was initially no one to take our name. After waiting for some time, a staff member finally appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, to add us to the waitlist.

Now when it comes to food, I divided into some categories which will help you to get to a decision.

We had ordered - Chingri Cutlet, Basanti Pulao, Bhooter Kalo Pora Mangsho, Kosha Mangsho, Aamer Chatti, Papad, Aam Panna.

Chingri Cutlet:

Spicy: Medium High Taste: 8/20 Worthiness: Can Order

Basanti Pulao:

Sweetness: 16/20 Fluffiness: 20/20 Colour: 13/20 Worthiness: Safe Order

Kalo Mangsho:

Spicy: Low Taste: 8/20 Worthiness: Not Worth it. Portion: 10/20 Sauce: BBQ Too Salty and Sour (Effect of BBQ Sauce)

Kosha Mangsho:

Spicy: Low Taste: 6/20 Worthiness: Safe Order Portion: 16/20

Aamer Chatni:

Taste: 3/70 Worthiness: Hard No Nature: Liquid and Sweet

Papad:

Taste: 18/20 Nature: Very Thin Worthiness: Safe Order

Aam Panna:

Taste: 2/20 Worthiness: Hard No Just Jaljeera Water

Verdict: Bhuter Raja could not give Bor anymore!

While the restaurant's theme might be interesting, our experience at Bhooter Raja Dilo Bor - Hatibagan fell short. The management seemed disorganized, especially considering the premium pricing. The food itself was average at best, failing to impress compared to what you might find at smaller, local Bengali eateries. For the price point, the quality simply wasn't there. It feels like the restaurant relies heavily on its visual branding and promotions by food vloggers, creating an inflated reputation that overshadows some of its stronger competitors serving tastier Bengali fare.

Restaurant Review: ভূতের রাজা দিল বর, hatibagan Ambiance and Decor Stepping into ভূতের রাজা দিল বর in Sodepur is like walking into the world of Satyajit Ray. The restaurant's interior is a nostalgic homage to Ray's classic novels and films. The walls are adorned with scenes and characters from the timeless “Gupi Gayen Bagha Bayen,” creating a whimsical and engaging atmosphere. It's a treat for both fans of Ray's work and anyone who appreciates unique and thoughtfully designed spaces.

Culinary Experience The food at ভূতের রাজা দিল বর is exceptional, offering a taste that feels remarkably homemade. The use of traditional "kashar thala" (brass plates) adds an authentic touch to the dining experience.

Our meal was a delightful journey through Bengali cuisine:

ভাত (Rice) and বাসন্তী পোলাও (Basanti Pulao) were fragrant and perfectly cooked. ঝুড়ি আলুভাজা (Crispy Potato Fries) and ডাল (Lentils) were simple yet flavorful. গন্ধরাজ চিকেন পাকোড়া (Gondhoraj Chicken Pakora) was aromatic and crisp, a standout starter. ফিস ফ্রাই (Fish Fry) and কচু পাতা ভাপা চিংড়ি (Shrimp Steamed in Taro Leaves) were fresh and delicious. মাছের মাথা দিয়ে কচুর শাক (Taro Greens with Fish Head) and কাতলা কালিয়া (Katla Kalia) showcased rich, traditional flavors. মটন কষা (Mutton Kasha) was tender and spiced to perfection. The meal concluded with চাটনি (Chutney), পাপড় (Papad), আম দই (Mango Yogurt), আম পান্না (Aam Panna), দইয়ের ঘোল (Yogurt Drink), and আইসক্রিম (Ice Cream), each offering a sweet and satisfying end to the feast.

Overall Impression Every dish was crafted with care, reflecting the essence of Bengali home-cooking. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but the quality and experience justify the cost.

For anyone seeking a culinary adventure that celebrates both the rich storytelling of Satyajit Ray and the hearty flavors of Bengali cuisine, ভূতের রাজা দিল বর is a must-visit. The combination of delightful decor and exceptional food makes it a memorable dining...
