CōLAB Coffee Calcutta - Deshapriya Park — Restaurant in Kolkata

Well we had to wait quite a while just to get seated which is fine but when we finally did, it was at a random window seat. Later, they did shift us to a better spot, which was nice. We placed our order (or at least thought we did) because the guy who took never actually placed it. We were sitting there for about 40 minutes waiting for coffee and when we asked we were met with “Ma'am, did you place an order?” The staff didn’t even come to check on us the whole time, and when we pointed out who took the order, he just made some kind of excuse to the other guy. The place itself looks nice and has a good vibe, but it can get very loud and hard to even hold a proper conversation without feeling overstimulated sometimes. I’m not trying to hate on the place, but honestly, the service needs some improvement. Considering all the hype and how excited we were to try it, we probably wouldn’t recommend...

I had a really bad experience. I thought their new outlet would be better, but it was the opposite. The owners seem to only care about making money.

They wouldn’t let smaller groups sit at tables for 4, even if they came first, which was frustrating.

The food was just okay, but for the prices, the portion sizes were really disappointing. I have been to a lot of top cafes in Kolkata, and this was the first time I felt let down.

And to top it off, they charged a 5% service fee for terrible service. Who does that at a cafe?

Good ambience. Good food. Good teqm members and Barista. The Coffee can be better and less acidic. I always benchmark a good coffee place with the Espresso. And this was good but not above par. Potentially some room for improvement. The orange tea cake was average- dry for my liking. The slider with rocket leaves was super and packed with flavour. Overall, a good place to be in and it being within walking distance is a big plus. Would return to CoLAB on each visit...
