Honey Da Dhaba — Restaurant in Kolkata

Firstly, I went there with high hopes of Celebrating my Wedding Anniversary Lunch with My Family... Seldom I knew that this is what is in Store for me... To have everything known and accessible I along with my Wife visited the Restaurant 1 week ago for Booking the Same... The Lady in the Reception along with a person inside the Restaurant where Bills are processed gave me a Menu where all Thalis are mentioned and we wanted to Book for around 10 people the Gandhari Thali, the lady said they don't Book we can directly come down at 1.30pm and Thalis would be available as restaurant opens at 12 noon and food is prepared ready by 1.00pm... On my Anniversary Date I took my Family Members to the Restaurant at the specified time i.e. 1.30pm in the Afternoon the lady in the Reception first recognized me and said yes sir you had come and after arranging gave us a Table, we kept sitting around 15 mins even Drinking Water wasn't served... On repeatedly being told finally Drinking Water was served... Then the actual story started while placing the order I ordered 7 Gandhari Thali, 1 Amritsari Thali... The waiter stated for Gandhari Thali need 1 hour minimum, I was stunned I went to speak to the Desk with the lady she refused to accept I had come met her and she had said that food is prepared ready by 1.00pm... Then we found out that the Menu being shown to us was also not actual to be served actual menus are kept on the Table (The Laminated Menu had only Different Thali Menus written and along with Thali Time as 12-4pm and Most Probably written Tuesday Closed. We were speaking at desk around 1.45pm way ahead of 12 noon if thali time is from 12 noon then what was the Issue ???)... We were in dire straits as our family consisting of Senior Citizens were in Table having medicines and food isn't there then they said that they need 30 mins which they can serve Peshawari Thali which is high priced from Gandhari Thali we agreed as there could have been bigger issues with Senior Citizens not having food on time so we agreed for Price high Thali, but surprisingly thali required 30 mins to be served but was served in 15 - 20 mins max... What was the Actual reason was it selling high price thali that this entire drama was done... I would request all readers to be careful before selecting Honey Da Dhaba for any get togethers or any occasions they can ruin your name in front of your Invited Guests at any moment... I Would never ever go to Honey Da Dhaba again for the Behaviour regarding food orders done by them... Neither I would recommend the Restaurant to anyone...

Honey Da Dhaba is one of the oldest restaurant serving really good food and maintaining the quantity from ages at Kakurgachi Area... So, you need not to worry about the quality at least...

The ambience here is really cool... The heritage mirrors, furnitures along with the large trees inside the restaurant gives it a royal edge...

The staffs are very friendly and the service is top notch...

My experience here is really awesome every time... I have many memories attached to this place... So I may sound little baised but believe me they deserve all the...

We ate Chicken Tikka kabab, Butter naan, Masala kulcha, Mutton Rogan Josh, Green Salad, Gajar ka halwa.

Chicken Tikka kabab: 4.5/5 (the spice of the kabab was just perfect. But marination could be little better, that would have made the kabab more juicier and the spice would have entered into the meat more)

Butter naan: 4/5 (just missed 5 stars for a little. Butter naan had so little butter!)

Masala Kulcha: 4/5(masala inside the kulcha was not adequate, that's why 1 star deducted)

Mutton Rogan Josh: 5/5 (just perfect. Touches the definition of Mutton Rogan Josh)

Green salad: 5/5 (Tomato, cucumber, onion, lemon, green chilli, freshly cut and presented)

Gajar ka Halwa: 2.5/5 (This is where they made blunder. I think the halwa was made in a kadai which was used for cooking some spicy dishes, so that flavour could be palated in the Halwa. Moreover the halwa was not sweet atall! Just think about ordering dessert to do some muh-meetha, and the dessert is not being sweet! How will that make you feel!)

We went there to taste their biryani. But biryani was not available! A dhaba not having biryani! Several customers were asking for biryani but biryani was not available! One customer left after hearing this! More dishes were unavailable from their menu! What is point of running a dhaba like that! At one point, I think the owner of the restaurant showed up and was very much disappointed with the manager! It's good that he noted it.

Stuffs could have been more courteous! They were taking more time to serve orders to the table. They were not slow for our orders though. But when a lot of customers came, the service became slow. I think they are not accustomed to handle such crowd. But their sitting space was not full though! So there is space for improvement.

At the end, they made mistake in the bill and didn't mention one dish in the bill. I had to go the counter to revise the bill! So they need to be more careful in billing also.

So overall my experience: 3/5. Will go there again in next months to see how much they have improved. Because I liked the vibe of...
