This is one of the oldest restaurant in Tangra and it is the favorite place for Chinese food for the Chinese population in Kolkata. It is run by a Chinese husband and wife team who takes extensive care in the quality of the raw material's used by them.
Even though the decor is not of a top class, the food definitely is and they have modified the recipe to suit the taste buds of our Indian palate. The seating arrangement is on two floors and the kitchen is in an adjacent building.
The staffs are extremely efficient and friendly and if you are new to Kolkata, they will make you feel at home and are ever ready to suggest to you what is the food you should order, according to your taste. Since they make the noodles themselves, fresh each day, these get over by 7pm unless you call them up and reserve those.
My friends and family love their Hakka and Cantonese Noodles. The Chilli Chicken with bones is in high demand and gets over as quickly as the noodles, mainly because they use the tender meat of small chicken which is brought in by their supplier daily. Their Chilli Prawn is another favorite which is loved by anyone who tries it.

Read moreKimfa is one of the oldest restaurants in Tangra. With Kimling, Blue Diamond , Kafulok it started as Chinese owners serving their version of Indian Chinese , somewhat modified to suit the Indian palette. I call this Tangra cuisine. It is perhaps , a few places left where the owners are themselves in the kitchen, everything is made fresh and that makes all the difference. My favorite Staples is the Ginger , Lemon and Chilli Chicken, the prawns are good too , the Thai soup served is a classic example of what I mean by Tangra food, it is nothing close to Thai , with absolutely no flavors of Lemongrass, Galangal, kaffir lime or cocunut milk, the broth is only special to Kimfa and absolutely delicious. I am somewhat saddened to see the rise of generic restaurants and resto breweries across all fomats , the food is so homogenous , that it is somewhat hard to differentiate the flavours from kitchen A to B. Somewhat like the new commercial EDM music , where everything sounds the same with no band identity. Kimfa is one of the few authentic kitchens in this city , where you could distinguish it's dishes by just looking at...
