Location: Beside Acropolis Mall, Kolkata
As someone who has been a regular at Punjabee Rasoi, I can say without hesitation that this restaurant has never failed to impress me. Whether you're visiting for the first time or you're a loyal customer like me, the experience is consistently satisfying, comforting, and absolutely delicious.
🌟 Atmosphere & Location: Tucked away in a quieter corner near Acropolis Mall, Punjabee Rasoi might not be in the most high-profile spot, but don’t let that fool you—this place is a hidden gem. The fact that it’s just beside the mall is a big plus for us, as it’s become a bit of a tradition to enjoy a big meal here and then stroll or relax at the mall afterward. The ambience is clean, cozy, and welcoming—perfect for both casual meals and family dinners.
🍽️ Food Quality & Variety: The food is the star of the show. Every dish I’ve tried has been packed with flavor, made with quality ingredients, and served hot and fresh—often faster than expected, even during busy hours.
What I really love about Punjabee Rasoi is its inclusive and balanced menu that caters brilliantly to both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. Everyone in the family finds something they love here, and that’s no small feat.
My absolute favorite has to be the Adrak Ke Punje, a beautifully cooked mutton kebab that is rich, tender, and bursting with flavor. It’s something I crave often and almost never skip. On the side, their cheese garlic naan and butter tandoori roti are must-orders—soft, flavorful, and the perfect base for any curry.
Speaking of curries, their daal makhani is a family favourite in our house. It’s creamy, comforting, and just the right amount of smoky—a true North Indian classic done right.
💸 Pricing: Some might find the pricing slightly on the higher side, especially compared to more casual eateries, but in my opinion, it’s worth every rupee. The portion sizes are generous, the quality is consistent, and the taste is always on point. For the kind of service and food they offer, the pricing feels justified.
👨👩👧👦 Who Should Visit: Whether you're going with family, friends, or even on a casual solo visit, Punjabee Rasoi is a great choice. It’s a kid-friendly, clean, and reliable restaurant with good service and friendly staff. The fact that it’s a bit under the radar only adds to its charm—it’s the kind of place you’re proud to have “discovered.”
✅ Final Verdict: Punjabee Rasoi is one of those rare restaurants that combines quality food, warm ambience, inclusivity for all types of eaters, and consistent service. It’s become our go-to place for North Indian cuisine and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking for a hearty, satisfying meal in the area. Don’t be fooled by its slightly hidden location—this place is a total gem.

Read moreIt was my first visit to this place and it did leave a good impression and lived up to all the good words that have been going around about the place. It indeed is a place where you get AUTHENTIC North Indian and Punjabi food and doesn't beat around the bush with tall & glib claims and glitz, amounting to zilch.
We had ordered for their Adrak ke Panje (Mutton Burrah), Chicken Reshmi Kabab, Chicken Tikka Butter Masala, Garlic Naan & Masala Kulcha and none of the dishes disappointed.
To begin with the starters, the Adrak ke Panje pretty much lived up to their reputation. Well marinated Mutton Ribs cooked in Tandoor, rendering the meat soft and succulent and falling off the bones. Even the bones crumbled on chewing. There was a legible coating of cream on the ribs, which pretty much revved up the tastebuds. My personal rating - 5/5
The Chicken Reshmi Kababs were made so we'll, that even my three year old son relished them. No need to explain anything further. My personal rating - 5/5
The Chicken Tikka Butter Masala, truly reminded of the good stuff that's available up North and also what I had tasted in few Punjabi households who swear by their Butter Chicken. My personal rating - 5/5
What delighted me further was their Kulcha and Naan. The Masala Kulcha was well endowed with a hefty filling unlike many miserly upstarts. But it was the Garlic Naan which took the cake. While many eateries end up serving Garlic flavoured Naan, rather than providing evident and legible amounts of Garlic in their Naan, this proved itself to be the odd one out, and delightfully so. Ample amounts of chopped garlic adorned the Naan, leaving me to easily conclude the Naan to be the best that I had in recent times. My personal rating - 5/5
The service was prompt and the staff well behaved. The decor was not swanky, but one that exudes the airs of a good eatery who is more concerned with their food rather than unnecessary showmanship which adds value to everything except the food. My personal rating - 5/5

Read moreFood review: What we ordered for 2:: Mutton adrak ke punje(starter), Butter naan, Fish butter masala and raita. Starter was really good, tasty and worth every single Penny. Butter Naan was awesome.. tasted more towards baby naan. Fish butter masala was not satisfactory at all w.r.t. taste and quantity. Raita was also awful as it was mercilessly sweet.. i don't know which authentic Punjabi prepares such sweet raita.. misti doi would have been a better option (LoL).
Ambience review: It seemed more like a fish market with so many people/tables adjacent to one another. It was too much noisy and chaotic for us.
Service and courtesy review: Considering the price and fame(awarded by ToI) that Punjabi Rasoi is tagged to, the service is not impressive at all. No wash basin if u sit upstairs .. Will have to step downstairs. Finger bowls are served without even asking that too in the middle of the meal. They don't have time and patience for the customer to call it ends. Wrong Bill is provided for payment on top of it they affirm mistakes are obvious.
People don't come and pay for fine dining just for eating, but also for a decent service. Even our road side Haji Biryani is outstanding taste and quality wise, and at that same price we as customers don't keep expectations for a wonderful service or etiquette. But when restaurants like Punjabi Rasoi claim their endorsements from Times of India, they really need to act so. In short, the experience to us was nothing more than a regular food joint or a Punjabi Dhaba... By the way Punjabi dhaba people are way more courteous and serve the...
