Also known as Nathu Da's canteen or the old ashirwad canteen, this place is one of the best places in JU campus for a decent meal. The location cannot be better as it is situated right beside the jhill and on the side of the big field. It has outdoor sitting which receives cool breeze even in the hottest of the summer days. Though some people argue that it's costlier than the other places, the food is arguably better also. They have veg, fish, egg and chicken set meals for lunch, which is quite good, also a host of other stuff, rolls, chowmein, sandwiches, roti, paratha, pulao, and sides. The fried chicken they make in the afternoons is something worth visiting this place for, also they make other snacks like dimer chop, singara, fish fingers and cutlets. Ashirbaad/Suruchi canteen of Jadarvpur university is good for the veggies and other dishes they served along with Roomali roties or paranthas. They are quite cheap, although the chicken and paneer items have comparatively higher price tags. The fried chicken (Chicken pakoda) is worth trying, so is the Dahi Vadas. They have recently collaborated with 'The Donut baker' and one can get donuts with yummy toppings at a low price. The chowmin here is a no go for me as it is too greasy. The main USP of Ashirbaad is their outdoor sitting arrangement and really loving canteen owners who always look after the student with a lot of care. I would have given it 5 star as it's one of the hearts of Jadavpur University but the pricing of food of this canteen at Jadavpur University is on a bit higher side although food quality is moderate. You'll get mostly all varieties from rice, pulao, chicken, sandwich to south indian food options.
