If you are looking for a hole in the wall, this probably is the oldest one. It is an experience to be in such a historic place where so many thinkers once sat. The crowd is mostly old since youngsters probably prefer shiny new cafes. The food is not ground breaking but it is good and consistent and tastes like nostalgia. We had cold coffee and chicken kobiraji. The cold coffee is a must try along with fish fingers and fish cutlet... It is quite reasonably priced too. The entire meal was around ₹200 and quite enough as an evening snack for 2 people. As you are entering 8B, look towards your right towards the jadavpur market and you'll see if on the first floor a little bit into the lane.

Having coffee from coffee house is never a bad choice, but then yes the food quality has decreased a lot comparing to what it was then. Coffee house is all about adda, friends, food and coffee. ❤️ I really love this place specially for their cold coffee and the fish, mutton and chicken fries and kabiraji they serve. ❤️ These are a Must try definitely. Among all dishes, these are my favourite. The Chinese out there is not upto to the mark at all, it's better to avoid the Chinese. Selective foods are really delicious and as a lot can happen over a cup Of coffee. Every one should definitely visit once I their lifetime. Its a great feeling indeed. ❤️

There are 2 sections Ground and Balcony ..The items are slight on the higher side in the balcony and Waiters do force u for tips in Balcony.. First time we had Coffee which was good as per my friend..I had Mutton Kabiraji which was not so good according to me .. On the second go we had Chicken Hakka Chowmein which was liked by both of us ..Cost came around Rs.85 + Rs.10 Serving Charge or Tips whatever u can say .. Definite visit when u are in Kolkata...

The Indian Coffee House at Jadavpur is a cherished spot for those who value nostalgia and simplicity. Nestled in the bustling streets of South Kolkata, it carries the charm of an era gone by while serving as a sanctuary for students, intellectuals, and anyone seeking a pocket-friendly dining experience.

The ambiance is rustic and quintessentially vintage, with its red plastic chairs, marble-topped tables, and waiters clad in the classic white uniform with turbans. While it may lack modern amenities or trendy decor, the old-world charm adds to its appeal. It is a place where conversations flourish, unhurried by the ticking clock.

The menu is simple yet satisfying, featuring affordable classics like mutton cutlets, chicken stew, and toast with butter. The coffee here, especially the cold coffee, is an all-time favorite. The food may not compete with gourmet standards, but it offers a homely taste that warms the heart.

Service is polite but slow, making it a perfect spot for those who are not in a rush. The prices are remarkably low, staying true to the chain's ethos of serving affordable meals to the common man.

In summary, the Jadavpur branch of Indian Coffee House is more than just a café; it's a cultural hub that evokes a sense of belonging. Whether you're catching up with friends, brainstorming over projects, or simply soaking in the nostalgic vibe, this place offers a slice of...

What the College St. Branch is to Presidency college, this is to Jadavpur University, 2 of the oldest and most prestigious colleges of Kolkata. Though this is a bit lesser known among the current youth, both are operated in the same way with exactly same prices, the same ambience and more importantly servers wear the same classic white turban, so the only difference is in terms of space. But you'll find many alumni and old buddies chatting together over a cup of coffee, who have been coming to this place for years. A strange place where no one is a stranger! Service is prompt and very good, and so is the coffee and food, at very reasonable rates. Would definitely recommend the Cold coffee on a hot afternoon with a side of sandwich/cutlet/chowmein or whatever your heart seeks. A must visit place for all seasons and occasions, whether you're alone, with your lover, family or a...
