We opted for this place seeing their live session at Facebook and thinking we would get the same warmth and Ambience of an heritage eatery. Not satisfied with the quality of service. The road leading to the house is extremely dirty and unhygenic, one might feel nauseous to see such garbage lying around in front of the establishment. We chose to visit this place thinking about the heritage and ambience would be special but nothing was extraordinary. The attendants were reluctant to even explain the dishes that were served, by themselves maybe because we were just 3people visiting.Coming to food, the preparation were just nice and the protein size was good. But the veg items were served in very tiny portions and most ordinary dishes like mocha, papader sabji aloo bhaja..and no wow factor was in it...which are not repeated. They served us taler kheer which was absolutely undercooked and felt horrible as the ending dish. The mutton was chewy and not cooked very well.I personally liked the fish fry and pabda dish but the paturi was too sweet for my taste.Overall with this budget I would have easily liked to have dine in Aheli or oh Calcutta.

Went their yesterday based on insistence from my mother after she had seen Facebook reviews..but I must say it was total disappointment. Having paid Rs 1200/- per person for the thali shown below (plus Bhetki fish fry 1 pc) is definitely not worth it. You can get a Mahabhoj thali or likewise at Aheli, Peerless Inn or similar place for the same cost (may be lesser) along with lots more variety, much better ambience etc. The mutton (2 pc only) was too chewy and hard and the 'Chingri' was too stiff & dry. Someone who knows to cook authentic Bengali food...this is a strict NO-NO for them. The quantity of Chatni & Payesh was too little (cannot fill even a tea-spoon). On top of that you cannot ask for any extra item / refill except rice. For a food fanatic and an admirer of exquisite Bengali cuisine, it's not at all a recommended place. People will fell CHEATED !!! Moreover they accept only cash payment with no BILLS ! (you can understand why ??)...ridiculous !!..

Ambience is good. People are quite courteous and welcoming. It's a Famous Bengal cuisine both dine-in and take-away where you come across the unique, special and authentic dishes both for veg and non veg items. One gets to cherish the vintage ranna-banna and meeting the family members also. . The welcome drink is known as Haath tok (the specialised way of preparing sour-sweet drink swerved chilled). . Under non veg, the plates served are priced based on prawn curry or hilsa curry. Main course food served is: (For non veg) Basanti polao Bhaat Shukto Beetroot er bata Shorshe ilish Kosha mangsho Bhetki maache r paturi Khejur-Amsotto chutney Daab payesh (pudding made of the cream(malai) of coconut) Well everything was great, the mutton should be cooked bit more to soften it from inside. Enjoy the photos (There are plenty attached for a clear perception for the ones who are/will be awaiting to check out the dishes).

Date - 20/10/2024 THIS REVIEW IS A BIT LONG, PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ IT WILL HELP IF YOU ARE VISITING THIS PLACE. We visited this place for a family lunch, we were planning to visit this place for some time due to the facebook videos we saw and had a lot of expectations, which was shattered and made me write this review. I sheldom write reviews unless I come across extremely good or bad circumstances and this time it was not a good experience. Before the visit the owner communicated about the menu Items and we did some tweaks in the fish Items as per our convenience. We reached around 1:15pm although the main sitting area within the house was empty we were asked to sit in the newly built cabin. We got a welcome drink in 5-6 mins and after waiting for about 30+ mins the food was served. The served quantity was very less but is it understandable as Items were more. Taste wise all was good till we reached the mutton. Surprisingly the mutton was stinking and not properly boiled. We were a bit disappointed but overall not so much as remanning foods were good. HERE COMES THE SITUATION WHICH BROKE OUR EXPECTATIONS AND FORCED ME TO WRITE THS REVIEW

We had a casual chat with the guest sitting beside us and came to know they have some food restrictions due to which they avoid Onions and Garlics in food, the. owner agreed to serve them customised food so they are here. which includes mutton cooked without onion and garlic.

NOW WE GET THE POINT WHY THE MUTTON STINKS.

Out of curiosity during payment we asked the owner if no onions or garlics were used in the mutton, she said "THIS IS PART OF TODAYS RECIPE AS THEY COOK DIFFERENT RECIPES DIFFERENT DAY". But a Bengali would UNDERSTAND how a MUTTON tastes without ONIONS and GARLICS.

We were getting the point that we were served this out of mismanagement or they dont bothered for us it was there to call to feed us the customised one which was asked by other guest. WHICH IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO ME.

BUT HERE COMES THE TWIST. Owner goes inside for the change after 2-3 mins she returns with the change and ask me if we want to taste the mutton cooked with onion and garlics. HOPE YOU ALL UNDERSTAND NOW, ABOUT THE NEGLIGENCE OR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE WE EXPERIENCED.

MY SIMPLE QUESTION TO OWNER. - " If your recipe for today was mutton without onions and garlics then how do you offer me mutton again (properly cooked) after complaining. there were other guests in the main building who were served properly cooked mutton. I was lucky I customised the fis Items else she would have served us the same customised fish to us also which the other customer ordered. THIS IS A DISRESPECTFUL BEHAVIOUR AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

I am not highlighting the AC not working issue, the horrible road to reach this place and No parking available for the...

Food was average, not so tasty, quantity was very less as if the food was made for ants, infact the pice hotels have better food quality and quantity, the gravy of chingri malaikari was so sweet that it was comparable to a desert, the cabbage item was smelling like dried fish, the mutton had absolutely no flavor at all, the pieces had 99% fat and 1% of meat, I can hardly find any meat on it, the gravy had so much oil that I can cook 2 weeks of food with that, the mocha ghonto tasted like narkel naru, it was that sweet! , Only the things I liked were the bhetki fry and the daber payesh, I repeat It again that the food quantity was so less that even my 10 month old cousin doesn't eat that less food!. Would not recommend visiting the place, it is absolute waste of money. I even think that it is overhyped. I mean they should taste the food of other pice hotels and they will understand that how food quality, quantity and pricing should be made, I mean I don't compare the hotel with the homely atmosphere there but they will understand what quality, quantity and pricing really means! after eating the food of...
