It is a beautiful experience to feel the great national leader through his memories preserved in his ancestral house. It is a grade-I heritage building. This museum was established by Netaji Research Bureau (NRB) in 1961. It is spread in two floors i.e., I. 1st floor : It has Netaji's bedroom, his father's bedroom, his brother Sarat Chandra Bose's bedroom, Netaji's office as the President of the Indian National Congress. II. 2nd floor : It has three sections- 1. Central Gallery : It contains photographs, newspaper cuttings and documents related to Netaji's life, his activities in India's freedom movement, his personal belongings such as passport, military uniform etc. 2. Europe Room : Here one can get information about Netaji's activities in Europe through photographs, letters, gifts etc. 3. Asia Room : This room treasures information about Netaji's activities in East Asia (Japan, Singapore), Indian National Army, Azad Hind Fauj, Rani of Jhansi Regiment. A documentary footage is also played here. The museum has a shop at the entrance where one can buy books, CDs, DVDs related to the life and activities of Netaji. Photography inside the museum is prohibited. NRB also organizes seminars, conferences, exhibitions and other cultural programmes in Netaji Bhawan. Besides NRB publishes a journal named 'The Oracle'. The museum remains open everyday except Monday from 11:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Entry fees : ₹20 for adults ₹10 for children up to 12 years of age. Entry is free of cost for large groups.

Stepping into Netaji Bhavan felt like taking a walk through a crucial chapter of Indian history. It's not just a museum; it's the actual house where Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose lived and from where he made his famous escape from house arrest in 1941. You can almost feel the weight of history in the air. The best part is how well-preserved everything is. You get to see his actual bedroom, study, and the personal belongings that feel so intimate—his shoes, his spectacles, his furniture. It’s humbling to see the simplicity of the life a man who went on to inspire millions lived. The highlight, of course, is the old Wanderer car he used for his great escape. It's sitting there, preserved under glass, and it's a powerful symbol of his daring and determination. The museum sections are very well-curated with old photos, documents, and letters that really tell a story of his life and the Indian National Army. The whole place is quiet and respectful, and it gives you a much deeper appreciation for his sacrifice. It's not a flashy tourist attraction, and that's what makes it so special. It's a place for quiet reflection and a chance to feel a genuine connection to one of India's most iconic freedom fighters. It's a must-visit for any patriot or history buff.

As a former employee of a nearby company on Elgin Road, Calcutta, I had the privilege of visiting Netaji Bhavan, the residence of the legendary figure, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Stepping into this historical landmark was nothing short of stepping into the pages of India's struggle for independence.

Netaji Bhavan stands tall with its colonial architecture, nestled amidst the bustling streets of Kolkata. The moment you enter, you are enveloped by an aura of patriotism and reverence for one of India's greatest freedom fighters.

The museum inside Netaji Bhavan meticulously preserves and displays Netaji's personal belongings, letters, photographs, and documents, offering visitors a glimpse into his extraordinary life and his unwavering commitment to the cause of India's independence. Each artifact seemed to narrate a story, resonating with the spirit of sacrifice and determination that defined Netaji's journey.

Wandering through the corridors of the Bhavan, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of awe and admiration for Netaji's leadership and vision. His courage, resilience, and unwavering belief in India's destiny left an indelible impression on me.

Moreover, the serene atmosphere of Netaji Bhavan, amidst the chaotic streets of Kolkata, provides a tranquil space for introspection and reflection, making it an ideal place for visitors to immerse themselves in Netaji's legacy and contemplate the significance of his contributions to the nation.

In conclusion, my visit to Netaji Bhavan was not just a journey through history but also a profound experience that left me inspired and deeply moved. It is a testament to the enduring legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and a reminder of the sacrifices made by countless freedom fighters in the struggle for India's independence. I would highly recommend a visit to Netaji Bhavan to anyone seeking to connect with India's rich heritage and to pay homage to one of its...

Being born in Calcutta or simply being a Bengali, visiting Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s ancestral home is an absolute must. It holds a special place in every Bengali's heart, as it’s a testament to the rich history and legacy of one of India’s most revered freedom fighters. During my visit, I was moved to see not only Bengalis but also non-Bengalis appreciating the historical significance of the place. It filled me with immense pride to witness others recognizing the importance of this landmark.

The house itself is a joy to explore, offering a beautifully curated experience. The items are meticulously displayed in chronological order, providing an insightful journey through time. As I walked through the rooms, I was struck by the surprising and unexpected details about the objects and their connections to Netaji’s life, which stirred up a mix of emotions—pride, awe, and deep respect. Some of these items were deeply personal and telling of his journey, while others were surprisingly lesser-known, adding layers to the already rich narrative of his legacy.

The house is well-maintained, with much of the original charm intact. However, there are a few areas that could benefit from more regular cleaning to ensure the upkeep of such an important heritage site. Visitors can also pay a nominal entry fee, and there is the added option to purchase books based on Netaji’s life and struggles, which are a great way to take a piece of this rich history home.

Overall, the experience is incredibly rewarding and emotional, leaving one with a sense of deep connection to the past and a sense of pride in Netaji’s contributions to India’s freedom struggle. It's a place that offers not just a glimpse into history, but also a space where emotions and memories are stirred—making it a place worth visiting for anyone who wants to learn more about this iconic figure and...
