I wish I could give the rating in negative. Anyway, we were group of 5 people and wanted a veg restaurant...there was a lot of rush in here and the owner (a lady) said that there was a waiting of 15 mins. I smiled and said that's ok..she smiled back and said it may take more than that..I was okay with that because we really wanted to taste it's cuisine. I said it's okay and went outside. We had only been waiting for 5 mins when I saw a group of people leaving. We rushed inside and got the table. I called out to the owner 3-4 times to ask if there's anyone else who has booked before me. But she deliberately didn't answer and when I say deliberately...I mean it. Because she looked at me but still ignored. I felt embarrassed but still I let it go as I thought due to heavy rush, she might be having a hard time. While I was calling my friends to come and sit on the table, the owner passed by me. I again let her know that we are occupying the table but no revert..instead she said "excuse me" and went away and then after a few seconds she looked (stared) at me from a far. I asked what happened. She didn't say anything and nodded in negative. I was not feeling like we are welcomed but still I ignored. Anyway we sat on the table, I called out to her to take the order but she handed me a pen and an order book to write the order myself. Again I gave her benefit of doubt. We ordered momos. But she said the dough has finished so it will take half an hour atleast. We cancelled it and started to order something else. Along with us, there was a lady (65 yrs) and sometimes oldies behave like children so she asked the owner that she wants the pasta but she was confused between red and white sauce so suggest her which is best. The owner literally shouted at her and these were her exact words "Ma'am, How do I tell You which is better? You order what you feel like." That was the last straw..we didn't say anything and left. She didn't even say a word. I'm not the kind of person to judge someone so easily as I always take other people's feelings and emotions into consideration. But this owner should seriously try to learn some basic hospitality skills..merely opening a restaurant is nothing if you can't have smile on your face..you are busy because you are serving and you are being paid for it. Nobody is eating there for free so have some courtesy. Arrogance will take you nowhere. And we were a actually a big group of 150 people who went to Ladakh for a meditation retreat and this was the only...
Read morePleasant Experience at Maryul Café & Restaurant:
I recently visited Maryul Café & Restaurant to gauge their service and hospitality, specifically in relation to my request for a glass of water without ordering any food. Despite the café being frequented by affluent customers, I am delighted to share that I had a positive experience.
Upon entering Maryul, I approached one of the staff members and politely asked for a glass of water. The gentleman behind the counter promptly provided me with a glass of water without any hesitation or discrimination. I appreciated the fact that I was treated respectfully, despite not placing an order for food.
The café itself exuded a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior was tastefully decorated, creating a comfortable and pleasant environment for patrons. The seating arrangements were well-spaced, ensuring privacy and comfort for guests.
While I didn't have the opportunity to sample their food during this visit, the café's menu boasted an impressive selection of dishes. The variety and quality of the offerings seemed to match the refined ambiance of the establishment. I look forward to returning to Maryul in the future to explore their culinary offerings further.
It's worth noting that the café appeared to be popular among the affluent clientele. However, I found the staff to be welcoming and accommodating, which made me feel at ease despite any initial concerns I may have had.
In conclusion, my experience at Maryul Café & Restaurant was a positive one. The staff treated me courteously, allowing me to enjoy a glass of water without any issues. The café's elegant atmosphere and promising menu suggest that it is an excellent choice for those seeking a refined dining experience. I would certainly recommend Maryul to others and look forward to returning soon to try their delectable cuisine.

Read moreThe Maryul is a warm and friendly, cozy place in a very fine location in the center of the Main Market in Leh. Popular with both locals and tourists, the Maryul is one of the few restaurants that remains open in the long Leh winter. The menu offers an eclectic range of Indian and Ladakhi dishes. You'll love their momos (vegetarian, chicken and mutton), their thukpas and thenthuk. I'd especially recommend their chicken thenthuk, which is the best I've had in Ladakh and Spiti, the land of thenthuk. The Maryul has of late changed its informal interiors, and put a long dining table with proper chairs, suitable for large families or groups right in the center of the restaurant. The earlier seating arrangement of cushions and low tables, continues in a corner of the room. There is additional seating with high chairs and a bar-like slim table running on two sides of the restaurant, facing out to the street through the large glass windows. This is a great place for people-watching, and especially great for solo diners. The new manager, Yogesh, is helpful, and has plenty of hospitality experience behind him, despite his youth. Ask for suggestions if you're new to Indian or...
