Read moreIf you're looking out for places to try out different cuisine in Madurai, then this place will be there in the list. Went there recently on their 10th anniversary celebration. They have turned a big house into a restaurant. So please don't expect some fine ambience that you usually see in an American/Italian restaurant. But not to complain. A calm place where you can have your food with some pleasant English music. Their Basil infused tomato soup was good. With that expectation I was eagerly waiting for my peri peri grilled fish starter. I was expecting a whole fish or couple of fish steaks or a fish fillet grilled. But what came was exactly nine small cubes of fish grilled along with bell peppers and onions. I'll leave it upto your choice to decide if that's worth 410. No comments from my end. Then we ordered spicy peri peri cottage cheese stuffed with corn(410) and pan seared chicken in harissa sauce(465). Both the dishes will be served with rice and the later was mentioned in the menu that it'll be served with garlic rice. They made me wait for almost 35 minutes after which the first dish came. The cottage cheese was pathetic. It was so tough that I had to use all my strength to cut it and even more effort to chew that. The vegetables served alongside were of continental style. So people who can't eat raw(almost, just tossed with salt and pepper) carrots, baby corn, cauliflower and broccoli please don't go for this. The second dish was served with mash potatoes. I had to wait for another 15 to 20 minutes to get my garlic rice and the chef to come and accept that it was their fault to serve that with mash potatoes. Again the same story with the vegetables and this time they didn't even toss them well and the cauliflower and broccoli were just diced and platted. The chicken was good and nicely done. In my overall experience, this place is definitely not worth its price. They really need to work on...
Read moreI had a disappointing experience at Phil's Bistro recently, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts. The evening started with high hopes, but it quickly turned into a frustrating and unsatisfactory dining experience.
The first major issue was with the food quality. My party and I ordered pasta, and it arrived at our table undercooked and still al dente. It was evident that the kitchen had not given it the proper attention and time it deserved. The result was a less-than-pleasant dining experience as we struggled to enjoy our meal due to the undercooked pasta.
The service, however, was even more frustrating than the food quality. To make matters worse, the restaurant didn't even provide us with plates for our meal. We were left in an awkward situation, trying to eat directly from the serving plate, which is far from the expected standard of service. This inconvenience persisted even after we politely asked the staff for plates, which they promised to bring but never did.
The lack of responsiveness and attentiveness from the staff made the dining experience at Phil's Bistro extremely unpleasant. It felt as though our needs and concerns were being completely ignored.
In conclusion, my visit to Phil's Bistro left me deeply dissatisfied with both the quality of the food and the level of service provided. Undercooked pasta and the absence of plates for our meal marred what should have been an enjoyable dining experience. I hope that the restaurant takes these issues seriously and improves the quality of its food and service to ensure a more positive experience for...
