“Kannu Ki Chai – Where Hype Boils Over and Taste Fizzles Out”
Location: Kannu Ki Chai, Pimple Saudagar Visited for: Breakfast with guests Rating given: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2 out of 5 – only for the adrak chai)
⸻
Overview:
With a promising 4-star rating online and guests at home, I thought Kannu Ki Chai in Pimple Saudagar would be the perfect breakfast outing spot. Sadly, it turned out to be a classic case of “what you see online isn’t what you get on the plate.” The chai was the only saving grace in what was otherwise a forgettable morning.
⸻
☕ What Worked (Barely) • Adrak ki Chai (₹29): Genuinely good. The right hit of ginger and sweetness already mixed in. Worth the price. • Filter Coffee: Just okay. Comes unsweetened with sugar packets on the side. Manageable but nothing memorable.
⸻
❌ What Boiled My Patience – The Letdowns • Elaichi Chai – The Wait Game: Made to order and takes 10–15 minutes. They don’t mention this upfront. By the time it arrives, your patience has already steeped too long. • Portion Size – The Great Shrink Trick: • The Bombay Masala Sandwich (₹160+) comes with literally six sad crinkle-cut fries. • Should be renamed “Kid’s Aloo Toast” – not even filling for a light eater. • Chicken Mayo Sandwich looks like it was made with the smallest bread slices in the country. • (We have photos comparing it to a regular chai glass – enough said.) • Taste? What Taste? • The sandwiches were bland and forgettable. • The parathas are frozen and reheated – you can tell from the first bite. • Zero freshness. Zero satisfaction. • The Kulcha Catastrophe: • Ordered a kulcha. Waited 20+ minutes. • Finally told “kulcha gaadi nahi aayi hai” (the kulcha delivery vehicle hasn’t arrived). • Offered to replace it with “any sandwich.” As if that made everything okay. • Cancelled the order out of sheer disappointment.
⸻
🤡 Service – Not Rude, Just Ridiculous • No proactive communication. We had to follow up on every delayed item. • The staff’s casual attitude about missing items felt like a bad joke. • “Vehicle didn’t come” – really? For a place claiming to be a chain and serving breakfast?
⸻
📸 Visual Evidence (Because You Won’t Believe Until You See) • Check attached photos comparing sandwiches to the chai glass – comically small. • Fries looked like they were counted like currency notes.
⸻
🚫 Final Verdict:
Kannu Ki Chai is overhyped, underwhelming, and not worth the detour – unless you’re stopping by just for chai and low expectations.
Bring your guests here only if you want to teach them the lesson of “don’t trust ratings blindly.”

Let me start by saying — this place is all hype and absolutely no substance. As a group of five, we chose to have our breakfast here, having heard a lot of so-called “good things” about it. Big mistake. It was 9 in the morning, and we expected a calm start to our day, instead, we walked into a packed, chaotic mess with the deafening noise of traffic from the roadside making any conversation next to impossible. If you’re hoping for a peaceful breakfast, stay far away from this location. The ambiance is a complete disaster.
Now onto the food, or whatever you want to call what they served us. We ordered the Bombay Masala Sandwich, expecting something hearty and flavorful. What we got was a pathetic excuse for a sandwich, a couple of slices of bread stuffed with nothing but plain aloo. No veggies, no effort. Just dry, boring mashed potato. Horrendous doesn’t even begin to cover it.
The Chicken Mayo Sandwich? A complete joke. Four tiny pieces of white toast (barely the size of two fingers) with a miserable amount of chicken and mayo inside. Honestly, I’ve had better sandwiches from roadside tapri for half the price. This wasn’t just disappointing it was insulting.
Then came the Elaichi chai. Or rather then didn’t come the Elaichi chai. It took almost fifteen minutes for them to bring out one cup of tea. Half an hour! For chai! What were they doing back there? Cultivating the elaichi from scratch?
As if this wasn’t enough, we also ordered Chole Kulche. After 30 minutes of waiting (yes, thirty), there was still no sign of it. After waiting nearly 25 minutes and asking repeatedly, we were finally told that the “vehicle hadn’t arrived yet”, yes, seriously, and were suggested to swap our order for yet another sandwich. We already knew the sandwich here was a total joke, so we simply cancelled the order and cut our losses.
We walked out hungry, irritated, and completely baffled at how a place with such a reputation can function with this level of chaos and apathy.
In summary: this place is a mess. Disorganized service, subpar food, and a loud, uncomfortable environment. Our experience was ridiculous, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone waste their time or money here. Save yourself the frustration and find literally any other place, you’ll be better off.
Bottom line: Don’t...
Read moreIndeed one of the awesome places in the Pimple Saudagar (Pimpri Chinchwad) especially tea & coffee lovers who love to spend beautiful time with closed ones and have delicious food items. Yes, I am talking about Kannu Ki Chai who already have been created their own place in city as well as people's hearts with thier unique ideas and taste. Let me start from my favourite gudh ki chai (made from jaggery) and filter coffee. I already have tasted such teas at many places but it has different level of freshness that makes your smile too. I also had their signature sandwich which is more than enough for a person. Loved the taste and catchy look of sandwich. I am not too much into nachos but from this place I started love. You must try when you visit thier outlet. I already had enough food items so thought to order banana and carrot cakes. Banana cake is already favourite but now added carrot cake into the list. Taste was really yummy, perfect balance of sweetness, I had with tea. Of course you will get so many options like gudh wali chai and filter coffee hot chocolate masala omelette croissant omelette sandwich moong dal pakoda toasties veg - non veg banana walnut cake chocolate croissant Nachos burgers and more Overall just spent an awesome weekend at this place. Taste 5/5 Ambience 4/5 Service 4/5 Visit this place and thank me later !
