This place was suggested by my Allahabadi friend who had tried their menu and asked me to try once.
So I had visited this outlet yesterday with some of my close friends and was literally amazed by their food.
They have a cute ambience with a decent seating capacity both downstairs and upstairs. In downstairs, they have a seating area outside. The ambience is simple yet classy. There are some games too to play and chill. Also they have cute props to decor the place.
What I loved was their food. I tried the below items and each one was just amazing by its authentic taste .
🔸Kulhad Chai - Being a tea lover, I can strongly recommend this chai. It was hot and served on a traditional kulhad. You can feel the taste with just a sip and would surely not miss this if you are here.
🔸Normal and Meetha Golgappa - We had 2 types of Golgappa, meetha and normal one.
Normal Golgappes were stuffed with mashed potatoes and served along with teekha and meetha pani.
The meetha golgappa was served with meetha chutney on it and also some curd.
Both the dishes were worth trying. Both had retained their individuals flavours and tasted really amazing.
🔸Potato Wheels : A perfect appetizer during high tea time. It was crisp and a nice complementary with tea.
🔸Fara : It was basically fried dumpling based made both from rice and bajra and served individually. Both were superb snacks especially the rice one.
🔸Special Banarasi Mix Fruit Lassi - It was churned curd served with garnished cut fruit pieces on the top. It was sweet and tasted good. Each fruit contributed its own flavour and enhanced the dish.
🔸Coconut Flavour Lassi - It had grinded pieces of coconut mixed with lassi. Also it contained dry fruits which added more flavour.
Then we had authentic Banarasi Veg thali and Non Veg Thali.
Both the rice had ghee flavoured jeera rice and phulka roti in common. The rice was cooked well and the essence of ghee came out perfectly. Both of them took my heart away by their presentation and taste.
🔸The Chicken curry was homely cooked and had an authentic Banarasi flavour in it. It reminded me the Chicken I had in my visit to Varanasi.
🔸The Veg thali had many dishes on it like Litti, Dal Baati, Pakode Curry, Sukhi Sabji, Paneer Curry, Daal with Rice and Roti. It was scrumptious and can fill your tummy to the fullest. A perfect thali with all the necessity ingredients and taste.
Despite such a heavy meal we kept a little space in our tummies for dessert. It is an inseparable part of every meal. In dessert we had GulabJamun and Laung Latta. Both were delicious.
I would strongly recommend this place for both appetizers and a heavy meal. Their taste and...
Read moreUndoubtedly, street food is an important part of the Indian culture and cuisine. There are a number of street foods from across the country that are famous, and Benaras (Varanasi) have own charm as its food is defined by its culture and tradition.
According to Chef Ashwani Kumar Singh, "The food of Benaras or Varanasi is influenced by its people. You will find Marwari traders and people from nearby states including Bihar and West Bengal in the city have added their own regional touch to the local cuisine."
Recently, visited to the place named as Lost Recipes located in Wakad to discover the taste of Benaras and it was wholesome experience for me.
As owner recommend to try Tamatar Chaat and Sattu ki Kachori Chaat, personally I found it pretty interesting. Tamatar Chaat served in kulhad and taste was well balanced between tangy - spicy taste, some mashed potatoes with crisp namak pare added more texture and taste in it. Will recommend to try this. Next tried the Sattu ki Kachori Chaat which got served in patal, taste was superb slight crisp roughly crushed kachori topped with balance sweet, tangy and spicy makes an happier bite.
From the mains opted for Benarasi Special Chicken Thali, which was loaded (see pic). It's consist of Benarasi Chicken Handi, Bhuna Chicken, Benarasi Kachori, Jeera Rice, Aalu Papd, pickles and gulab jamun. Interesting part is its cooked in desi ghee as you can not only smell the aroma but also taste in bites. The way Chicken handi was prepared has totally left me speechless while, bhuna chicken keep me going on with those roasted aroma of the spices left it completely wiped. Can feel the richness of ghee in jeera rice and goes best with that slight thick chicken handi gravy. Gulab Jamun served along with it was soft as its get melt in mouth. Try this amazing thali and you pass your judgment
They are known for masala chai so we tried that too, small kettle served for 4 - 5 small kulhad. Rich, flavourful perfectly brewed in milk as I can taste the richness of cream in it. Highly recommended.
As there is always room for an dessert and luckily got chance to taste Launglata, crisp form out sealed with clove with sweet sugary syrup coated on it and soft mawva, nuts filling. Slight aroma and taste of clove makes it more interesting and delicious taste.
The place is small with few seating arrangement and you might get slow service as they prepared all the item from scratch and as per order. Mutton dishes are available on pre order.
Simple seating arrangement with few tables and chairs but good food here will take you to "Benaras ki Galliyan" for...
