Mummy's Homely Food, located on the Old Mumbai-Pune Highway near Lonavala, offers a delightful blend of Maharashtrian and Punjabi cuisine. This dhaba-style restaurant is a hidden gem for travelers and food enthusiasts alike, especially for those seeking authentic flavors in a cozy, rustic setting.
Ambiance and Crowd --
Being strategically located near the highway and Lonavala’s tourist hub, the restaurant was bustling during our lunch visit. Despite the crowd, the warm and homely vibe made the waiting experience pleasant. The dhaba-style seating, combined with the aroma of freshly cooked food, added to its charm.
Culinary Experience --
Soup Section --
We started our meal with their Mutton Soup, which was nothing short of spectacular. The soup was rich, flavorful, and packed with spices that warmed the soul. It set the tone for the rest of our meal.
Main Course --
For the main course, we tried their Veg Thali, a simple yet delicious showcase of traditional Maharashtrian flavors. Each component, from the sabzi to the dal, was thoughtfully prepared, offering a hearty and satisfying meal.
Additionally, we ordered their Chicken Zakas (Half Portion) with Jowar Bhakri. This combination was a match made in culinary heaven. The chicken gravy was robust, bursting with spices, and cooked to perfection, while the soft and warm Jowar Bhakri complemented it beautifully.
Desserts --
To finish off, we indulged in their Ukadiche Modak, a Maharashtrian specialty. These steamed dumplings, filled with a sweet coconut-jaggery mixture, were melt-in-the-mouth delicious—a perfect ending to a wholesome meal.
Overall Experience --

Read moreI recently had the opportunity to visit Mummy's Homely Food in Lonavala, and unfortunately, I must say that I was quite disappointed with my experience. Despite the high prices charged at this establishment, both the taste of the food and the overall ambience left much to be desired.
First and foremost, let's talk about the taste of the food. It was far from homely and lacked the flavors that one would expect from a place with such a name. The dishes lacked the authentic touch that makes homely food so appealing. I found them to be bland, lacking in seasoning, and overall unimpressive. Considering the prices they charged, I expected much better.
Moving on to the ambience, it was far from pleasant. The lack of cleanliness was immediately evident, with flies buzzing around freely. This not only affected the overall dining experience but also raised concerns about the hygiene standards of the place. It's difficult to enjoy a meal when flies are constantly hovering around, and it certainly did not contribute to a comfortable atmosphere.
Additionally, the service at Mummy's Homely Food was subpar. The staff seemed disinterested and lacked attentiveness. It took an unnecessarily long time for them to take orders and deliver the food. Their slow work further added to the frustration of already disappointed customers. It's important for any restaurant to prioritize efficient and prompt service, which unfortunately seemed to be lacking here.
Overall, I cannot recommend Mummy's Homely Food in Lonavala. The high prices, combined with the disappointing taste of the food, unappealing ambience, lack of cleanliness, and poor service, make for an underwhelming dining experience. Lonavala has several other options available that offer better value for money and a more enjoyable meal. I would suggest exploring those...
Read moreVisited this place after seeing lot of reels on social media. Some over ACTOR'S have hyped this place above and beyond limit.
Looking at the menu card, was very interested in trying the special Mutton thali, which had fry Mutton, Mutton rassa(without pieces) 1 boiled egg, 2 chapatis or 1 bhakari and other small side dishes. When asked the waiter, whether the bhakari or chapatis and rice were limited or unlimited, I was told, limited. Any thing extra is chargeable. Generally I felt all the dishes were over priced.
So decided to order special fry Mutton (half) 1 portion of Mutton rassa, and 3 bhakari. ( Since I workout 💪 this is normal diet for me.)
The delivery time was quick, and I got my order in 7/8 minutes. Extremely disappointing taste of the Mutton fry, no flavor of spices at all. Just some red masala, had to add salt to make it edible, absolutely bland. Mutton rassa was equally bad, watery, flavor less, no taste at all. Bhakari was normal. Portion size was very small, the Mutton fry was priced at ₹ 550, had hardly 5 pieces mostly bones. Some of them were chewy...
Service is mediocre, you don't get the bill on your table, you have to go to the counter to pay.
Ample parking space, but all uncovered. It's a total turn off in the hot summer afternoon.
I genuinely appreciate the effort taken by all entrepreneurs, and generally never write critical reviews, but this place absolutely turned me down, and to the core. When you go to eat, the food must be good.... All other things can...
