It’s funny how some hidden gems sit right under your nose, unnoticed until you finally decide to explore them. Bombay Brioche, a chic little café near the Versova metro station, is one such treasure. After procrastinating for far too long, I finally made my way there – and ended up returning within a week.
Bombay Brioche is a small café with about four tables indoors and a similar number in an outdoor space. Perfect for brunches, dinners, or even a quiet catch-up session, it’s a cozy spot with an unpretentious vibe.
The Food: Here’s what we tried across two visits:
Classic French Toast (Sweet) Rating: 6/5 Quite possibly the best French toast I’ve ever had. The bread is perfectly soft, with just the right amount of sweetness, complemented by maple syrup and a dollop of whipped cream. Absolutely flawless – a dish you’ll dream about long after you leave.
Ghee Roast Chicken Rating: 5/5 A fantastic take on ghee roast chicken, served atop an open toast. The chicken is perfectly cooked, bursting with rich, buttery flavors. It’s a must-order for anyone who loves a good twist on Indian classics.
Zatar Shawarma Rating: 4.5/5 This is not your typical shawarma. Loaded with pickled veggies, jalapeños, garlic sauce, and hummus, it’s refreshing and creative. The perfectly flavoured chicken steals the show, making this a solid recommendation for those craving a Middle Eastern-inspired dish.
New York Cheese Melt Rating: 2/5 Unfortunately, this was the only letdown. A bland sandwich with basic bread, a single cheese slice, and fried chicken that lacked punch. It felt like a missed opportunity. A little inspiration from the cheesy decadence of Pizza By The Bay’s version could do wonders here.
What’s Next? Their desserts, especially the Nutella Bombolini and cheesecakes, come highly recommended. I’m already planning my next visit to try these and explore more of their intriguing menu.
The Experience: The service is prompt, and the ambiance is cozy, with a welcoming vibe that makes you want to linger. Given its small size and rising popularity, reservations are advisable...
