Sunday late in the afternoon we went to Chaayos at Versova for an evening chai. Even for a Sunday afternoon the place was quite full.
A dating couple on one table, a writer , a young couple and some ladies who were old school friends. All catching up on their respective lives with a garam chai ki piyali. We picked a corner table to watch the others on this leisurely noon date. We called for a bun maska and masala chai to begin with. Very rarely do I like chai anywhere besides at my home, coz no one gets the same proportions of water n milk n tea leaves right that is there at home. I am not much of a tea person, just once a day suffices for me, but Noor loves his tea and can have tea at anytime of the day. Here you can tell them the proportions you want in your teaā¦. For eg. More milk n less water , more water less milk, amount of sugar etcā¦. And they made an awesome chai for me on my specifications. The bun maska was a bit of a disappointment as it was a slightly toasted Burger bun with butter. Later called for their Chana Chaat which was spicy beyond words for me. If you canāt eat spicy food then remember to ask them to go light on the spice level. Along with it called for the Palak Patta Pakora which was yummy. You have to try this. Even though it is fried, there is absolutely no oil in the pakoras which are topped with a Tangy jalapeno sauce n sev with sliced jalapeno as topping. Totally crispy n yummy. Ordered the Matar Kulcha which were again very spicy. Spicy . Hello. I canāt eat this spicy food with green chillies literally popping out of my food. The worst or the best part of it is that Noor gobbled it so up. He loves spicy food. He was like , your loss is my gain. I had tears in my eyes from all the chilliās but the amazinglyā refreshing Aam Panna Ice Tea saved me . It was delicious. And thatās what I am going back to Chaayos again for before they decide to discontinue the flavor after the Mango season ends. Also ordered the Pineapple Strawberry Ice Tea but the Mango one was far more better. I mean anything with Mango in it is a winner for me. I mean who doesnāt love Mangoās . And then itās a Aam Panna tea. A must have alongwith the Palak Patta Pakora. Last but not the least called for their kullad chai n the fruit cake . Well you could give a miss to the desserts here and just stick to the chais n the food they have to offer here. Itās a very relaxing place where you can spend hours at with a cupp of chai to give you company. So head here guys for your quick fix of Desi chai n give a miss to the branded coffee houses that have come up at every nook n cranny.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreChaayos in Versova is a popular cafe which is buzzing throughout the day. Went last night around 9pm & the place was pretty packed. Constant crowd coming in & going out.
Chaayos has come out with their new Summer 2019 Menu which consists of 4 new Lassi variants ( strawberry, litchi, Mango & Masala mint ) to beat Mumbaiās heat.
We were 4 & ordered the following items :- FOOD Garden Fresh Sandwich - Cold sandwich with a soft base embedded with juicy & crunchy veggies in between. Chilli Cheese Toast - 4 decent slices of chilli cheese toast. Heavenly š Palak Patta Crispies - 6 pieces of crispy Palak chaat topped with jalapeƱo & imli chutney making it chatpata & yummy. Loaded Open Paratha - Decent sized Paratha which is loaded with cheese, paneer & capsicum. A must for paneer/ Paratha lovers.
DRINKS We tried all four variants of Lassi Strawberry, Mango, lichi & Masala mint. Priced @ 145 each, itās not cheap but having it served in a decent sized kulhad with top notch quantity itās worth every penny IMO. Litchi & Mango were my favourite š Aam Panna Ice Tea - A killer combo of Fresh mangos & ice tea. Do try. Kulhad Chai - Signature drink @ Chaayos which never fails to impress. Serving in kulhad gives it a desi touch which is always welcomed.
DESSERT Moist chocolate cake - Soft & moist as expected. Sweetness is well balanced & Choclate flavour is yum.
DECOR, AMBIENCE & SEATING This outlet has indoor & outdoor seating available which is comfortable & well spaced out. Interiors are cool & funky with wall frames, hanging lights, customised chaayos banners & decent lighting spread evenly.
MENU BOARD & OFFERS I love the menu options chaayos offers which are clearly visible & divided as homemade ice tea, lemonades, indian chai, chai unchai, Lassi , meals, chaat pakora, sandwiches & nasta. They also serve ready to mix chai sachets, fruit cookies & homemade snack packs.
FOOD & STAFF The food presentation, quality & quantity is very good & unlike most cafeās they have a huge variety of indian meals, chaat pakore & nasta options instead of pasta, burgers & pizzas. Staff is well behaved, polite & attentive. Food is served hot, service is quick & efficient.

They also run combo offers on chai & bun maska / Pohwa etc for Rs 150/- approx for a single person which is thoughtful & pocket friendly.
