I don't know where to start! The worst hospital ever. Obnoxiously expensive yet the service offered is insanely ridiculous. I won't recommend even my worst enemy to go here. I'll list down the problems: Nursing staff These people are the worst. They don't belong in the nobel nursing profession. My father was admitted here and my family was not able to sleep for even 1 hr because we were always worried about his wellbeing since the nurses were extremely careless. They won't visit you even when you press the bell 4-5 times. You have to literally go and fetch them. My father had IV swelling because an incompetent nurse did not care to call the doctor when he repeatedly told her that it was painful. His hands swell up to double the size and when the nurse saw it they ran away. I had to search and call emergency doctors for help. He was pricked 11 times because the nurses were not competent enough to find IV on the other hand. Another case was when he was not given proper hygiene products and was made to wait for clean up which was morally extremely painful for him. But the most disgusting part was on the day of his discharge. They gave us a tab to put our reviews with the internet of. We gave them negative markings and when we were trying to submit the form, it showed that there was no internet connection. The nurse took the tab away saying she'll connect it to wifi outside and ask us to submit again. But she never came back. We waited for 15 mins and then went to enquire and the nurse acted as if she had no clue we had an issue with submitting the feedback. When we asked for the tab she said that there's still a network issue so I offered her my mobile internet hotspot but viola! Suddenly she had internet and before I could review the form she submitted it. She scrolled down really fast but I saw that she changed the reviews and gave 5 stars. When I asked for the copy of the feedback form or other way to check it, she said it can't be done. I complained to the Nursing Head and Administration but yeah they're more into passing the ball rather than taking the responsibility. Free OPD/ Fund for help We went there to ask for some help or a discount in the bill because my father has been sick lately and money is tight. We came here for surgery because earlier we had done it here and the situation demanded to come back here for surgery since the doctor did not cater somewhere else. However, the guy ( Mr. Patil) is extremely rude. He's not there to help but just to give out favours to his known ones. We asked for help but he straight away denied saying that since the doctor has recommended twin sharing he won't help. We tried to explain to him that the doctor recommended twin sharing because the surgery had very high chances of infection that'd worsen my father's case. But he very comfortably and blatantly said "That's your bad luck" However he was shameless enough to attend a call in front of us where he was talking to someone on the other side about a family where the patient was a govt teacher with a pension of Rs. 40k per month and both his sons were doctors and how they were good people and his acquaintance and to find some way to provide them at least 10-15 percent discount. We just stood there in disbelief as how can someone be soooo immoral. Overall administration Pathetic! They lost my father's old MRI reports for a good 3-4 hrs before I started yelling at them to find it since it was the report basis of which the doctors were to operate my father. The lift staff let the people on the 16th floor(suits for the ultra rich) carry food but if you're below that floor then you can't even carry a tea bag. Housekeeping The room my father was admitted in was a twin sharing room costing Rs. 4800 per day but the room service was straight ridiculous. The curtain rod next to my father broke down and fell. The staff did not carry out their check before transferring my father in that room, when I complained the same to the admin they straight away dismissed it saying it must have been a bad accident....
Read morePRO’s Me and my wife recently delivered our first child here and I must say that the entire medical team is amazing at KDAH. The Doctors and Nursing staff is amazing and always there to support, help and listen to you. We whole heartedly thank Dr.Anshumala, Dr Preetha Joshi, Dr Archana Juneja and Aleena Sister from the nursing team. 10/10 for the entire medical team of the paediatric ward and the nursing staff. The meals that were provided to my wife were also always on time, delicious and warm. Very fresh home cooked meals which were mild on spices obviously but yet flavourful for the patients to not feel like they’re eating “hospital food”. The F&B team is also polite, always checking up if your meals are ok’ and amazingly fast and quick.
CON’s. (SECURITY STAFF AND ROOM) Visiting hours is 5pm to 7pm. My sister who visited us was in our room helping us pacify our crying child and exactly at 6:55 PM a security lady (Suneeta) barged open our room’s door without any concern for our privacy to the extent that some one from outside the room (a visitor or one of the relative from the neighbouring rooms) even peeped into our room while my wife was feeding my child. she had little to no concern for the fact that our child was sleeping and being fed and started shouting that the visiting hours are about to get over why aren’t you out yet etc. To which my sister very calmly said “ok i am leaving right away”. However this lady stood there shouting at us and teaching us about visitation hours. 5 minutes after her shouting is when our child began crying again and that is when I retaliated and asked her to leave our room right away! She went outside in the lobby area and started shouting at the Nurses incharge and phoned her supervisor and started talking to him complaining about me and thats when I went outside and asked her to call her senior right away to the room because I would like to officially report his incident to which she said she will get him in 10 minutes but she never came back.
Another security staff denied me from getting my tooth brush charger and hair dryer upon checking inn and the very same security staff allowed my friend to carry these items inside for me. Security in the Inpatient elevators also keep making new rules. Despite of using the inpatient elevator for 3 days during our 4 day stay I was allowed to use this elevator upon showing them the “RED PASS”. One fine day out of the blue I was asked to use the other elevator stating that the inpatient elevator does not stop on the 8th floor. It was only after 5 minutes of useless argument and telling him that i’ve been using the very same elevator each day for the past 3 days did he press the 8th floor button. It’s like the security team is so bored that they harass people to keep themselves entertained and busy. KDAH management needs to learn a thing or two regarding this from Lilavati Hospital,Bandra where they speak so politely respecting your emotions while making sure you adhere to the hospital’s rules at all times.
THE ROOM: The room, especially the single classic room that we opted for needs major refurbishment!! For the amount we were charged for the maternity package the room was in a really bad shape. Torn sofa’s, leaking taps and the overall appearance of the room does not justify the room rent that is charged by the management which FYI is equal or more to a Five star hotel room charges. Bathrooms have stains everywhere, The flooring is chipped and dirty, the paint on the walls are cracking and falling off (not something cleaning staff can also fix, NEEDS...
Read moreI recently had an unfortunate experience at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital that compelled me to share my thoughts. My father-in-law was admitted for an emergency procedure, and what transpired during our visit left me deeply disheartened.
Initially, we were given an estimate of ₹2,09,000 plus consumables for the procedure, but upon discharge, the cost had escalated to ₹3,57,000 - a staggering 75% increase. Seeking clarification at the billing desk, I received vague answers and was directed to the assistant doctor of the surgeon, who then asked us to wait for Dr. Mandar Deshpande.
After a prolonged wait, Dr. Mandar Deshpande eventually met with us but became defensive when questioned about the unexpected cost surge. Despite my attempts to engage in a civil conversation, things turned unpleasant as Dr. Deshpande raised his voice and directed us back to the billing department. We would not believe a doctor could behave in such a manner.
The situation escalated further when security was called, and my wife and I were confined to a room with the promise that someone from billing would explain the invoices. To our dismay, we were still waiting for someone to come for over 45 minutes, prompting us to consider leaving.
Later, Rajashesh Savant, the senior security personnel, decided to come but immediately resorted to using foul language and even attempted to file a false FIR against us. He threatened us with a silly claim that I had kidnapped my father-in-law so that we would not pay the bill. We asked him to check the cameras that a nurse had released him, and second to think if our intention was not to pay the bill (and run away), then why would we go to the billing counter to ask for the bill to pay? Why would we just not run away without paying? I explained to him the reason my father-in-law had left a little early was because he was in pain after the surgery and he had to travel six hours to get back home, so we stayed back so that he could leave to get back home before it was too dark. When logic did not prevail, he asked his security guards to physically restriction us and attempt to seize our belongings. When tried to take pictures and videos the guard literally tried to snatch my phone by inserting his hands into my pocket. How can a medical institution employ goons like these?
Ultimately, exhausted and under duress, we decided to settle the bill after intervention from a senior police officer. The entire incident unfolded in the hospital lobby, possibly captured on video.
This experience has raised several concerns about the conduct of the hospital staff and the apparent lack of accountability. Seeing such behavior from a healthcare institution where open communication and understanding should be paramount is disheartening.
Questions arise about the hospital's choice of personnel, particularly those who cannot engage in polite conversations and provide explanations when required. The ordeal also raises questions about the conduct of security personnel.
Last but not least, observe the cleanliness when you are in the hospital. It is one the worst; besides the lobby, the wards and especially the bathrooms are not to the cleanliness standard of a medical institution.
I hope to shed light on the challenges faced during my visit to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, emphasizing the need for better communication and a more patient-friendly approach from the medical and administrative staff. There are better hospitals in Mumbai, and you should consider those before considering Kokilaben Dhirubhai...
