The Ambience you can call it a masterclass architecture and planning. Creating a great restaurant ambience can add fuel to your memorable restaurant, the one thing which Dakshin Coastal focuses on. Factors such as music, artwork, spacing, lighting combine to create comfort, soothing atmosphere which was truly felt here.
The staff was very generous and knowledgeable I must say. Serving your patrons with sheer respect, dignity and politeness was the major factor the charm we mesmerized.
Some of the delicacies we relished. To begin with, we were served with some South Indian fermented crisps, papad and fried chillies alongside three chutneys which were the best we had till date, namely green chutney, coconut chutney and their very own cucumber based chutney. The cucumber based chutney was something exquisite we relished
Traditional complimentary drink named Vasantha neer was offered which was one of Mesmerizing combination of tender coconut, mint , lime and honey.
Next came up was the very famous South Indian rasam. Tomato rasam for the vegetarians and Chicken base rasam for the nonvegetarian connoisseurs which is spiced with chettinad spices. The first sip of Rasam drove away all our travel tiredness and was much of a refreshment.
Aarambham ( starters)dishes as you can call them

Read moreIn an attempt to capture the true essence and beauty of Southern India, Dakshin ensures that no (banana) leaf is left unturned (quite literally!). Right from the melodious Carnatic music tracks to the staff clad in traditional South Indian styled dhotis, this outlet took me back to my roots. The staff goes a step further by offering strings of 'mogra' flowers which women, traditionally pin on to the hair. The atmosphere is so serene and soothing that you will crave for that kind of tranquility once you step back into the city.
Barely a few kilometers away from the international airport, Dakshin Coastal is an absolute winner in terms of ambience, food and service. A special mention for the beautifully designed menu card as well.
To begin with, we were served a complimentary basket of assorted 'papadams' (papad) and chips which were crisp and light. We started off our meal with two starters - the Iyer's Trolley (an assortment of three types of mini-dosas) and the Vazakhai Shunti (raw banana dumpling). Particularly enjoyed the Iyer's Trolley as it has the perfect combination of regular and sweet dosas. Would highly recommend it for those who like variety. The quantity was just right for four people.
If you're obsessed with Malabar Parathas as I am, then that along with their Kai Korma is a must try! The two dishes work so well together that you wouldn't want to stop eating. We tried their Aapam which was extremely soft (in the middle) yet crisp (on the sides) which complemented the Kai Korma. An alternative to the Korma is their vegetable stew. We ordered the Neer Mor (spiced butter milk) to wash down the food which was a good decision.
The dessert portions are enough for one. We attacked the Elaneer Paysam and Adai Pradaman which was an interesting combination because the former was cool while the latter was warm. Both dishes uniquely prepared and signify the perfect end to the meal.
The only glitch in our experience was that the manager had no record of our reservation when we had specifically made one the day before. However, their service more than made up for it.
