Geeta Bhavan — Restaurant in Mumbai

One word describes it best and it is "Faltu"!!

I am nor fan of South Indian dishes or snacks, like wada, dosa, idli. So not taking about it! First let's start with ambience & other basic things....small place with canteen like food area , old kind of decore, not a quite place !

Other thing service is very slow & bad. Not a helpful service anyway, they don't bother to serve or maintain standard.

Let's go to worst thing's now. ➡️Dirty plates🍽️, literally they are steel plates (kind of) with grease all over. Wipped with a tissue some extra grease [see in pics the colour of tissue] From spoon to glasses all stuff is dirty & un hygienic.... don't know why this is a famous spot!

Till now we haven't moved to food🍛 We got a manchow soup , totally gingerfull & low on starch... It was tasting as a ginger soup. Moving ahead

Then we got panner gravy in which one was a crumbled panner dish & the other was the panner masala or tikka masala something similar. I have to say that even with dirty place they serve most disgusting food! The panner dishes were below average, & there was strong flavour of ginger. The gravy didn't had the right consistency nor taste. Was a mood off! Panner was not what it should be, panner dishes are worst here. Even the fried rice I got to help my taste buds was all dry & water or coke is must to eat that....also it only had spring onions all over the rice. A bit of small chopped carrot hiding here and there!

Even my dad got some mushroom or panned starters that didn't had any taste so I forgot to mention! Only chillies were there hope fully chilli dish...you can see in pics how bad it looks

➡️The cleanliness of this place is worst than the local Chinese stalls, staff is not helpful!

➡️Literally 20 mins for per dish to come-slow service..

➡️taste is very bad! The worst in Chembur... better get home & cook yourself if thinking to dine here

➡️ I won't visit here next time...bad food & hygiene.... even the south indian dishes are waste here.. I have tasted it back & you get better food at SAROJ ....they serve delicious veg dishes in Chembur

Geeta bhavan is a typical udupi hotel located very accessibly on central Avenue road or station road In chembur east however u wish to tag it. I remember during my childhood days all the hotel staff used to congregate after the hotel shutdown on Tuesdays & sing bhajans.the entire chain of command,rank & file from boss to the waiter used to be shettys or Anna's az they are called. It's been long since I have moved out of chembur but very poignantly when I visited geeta bhavan to go nostalgic on childhood memories I was told by one of the old timers that doing business has witnessed a colossal change & now all the oldie waiters have vanished & replaced more by our UP guys coming to eke a living out & chasing their dreams in Mumbai the city of gold so no more bhajans,no more of a family kind of feel to doing business these guys are just a different breed altogether. Now down to geeta bhavan per se its vast,airy,spacious very buzzing & alive with people conversing & going round entertaining their taste buds. On offer is typical North indian/south Indian food main courses & snacks. My personal favorite iz kela bhajji which iz a must try & lip smacking snack. If u dig coffee then u must chek the filter coffee out.the brown liquid out here haz the power to energize you & lift your oh so saggy spirits. combine kela bhaji with filter coffee or the classic vada sambar( sambar not to be mixed with vada & asked for separately) & u have ur taste buds exploding & going haywire mmmmm. Do chek GEETA BHAVAN out the next time you are in chembur & are in urgent need of a gastronomical explosion...

A very economical & tiny restaurent in entire Chembur East, * ANDAR JATEHEE KHATAM HO JATA HAI. No air-conditioned area, only general dining area.

once it was a actor Raj Kapoor's favorite restaurent, now nothing speciality left.

Food is not upto the mark, just to offer its customers, they are just for sake offering it.

Quantity is not upto the mark, one plate vegetable is not sufficient for Two persons.

Quantity and quality is compromised due to kept its price minimum, seems all the staffs and owner changed after long long lock down, hence everything except utensils & furnitures, everything has been changed.

waiters are not well trained, once they place your order never comeback to ask, if you need anything more, even for to place another order or needs bills you have to call them.

upgradation is require in this restaurents. This is the only restaurent in Mumbai, not honoring our PM's digital payment, not taking debit/credit card payment eventhough charging GST Amount from customers, this shows where our GST paid...
