Hotel Ganga Vihar — Restaurant in Mumbai

Complaint: Extremely Rude Delivery & Ruined Order (Bhai Dooj) ​We are regular customers of Ganga Vihar, but had an unacceptable experience today, 10/23/2025, with a large pre-paid order for a Bhai Dooj family gathering. ​The delivery personnel spilled and leaked the food from its containers upon arrival. The immediate issue was the complete loss of a prepared meal for our guests, which was highly embarrassing given we had paid the full amount in advance. ​The delivery person was incredibly rude, short tempered and unprofessional. When we pointed out the ruined food, he aggressively refused to take responsibility, initially telling us to "call the hotel and get it replaced" ourselves. He only returned to collect the leaking food after a prolonged, confrontational phone call. ​Call to Action for Management: We spoke to the owner briefly yesterday while placing the order. We urge the owner to immediately address the conduct of this short-tempered delivery employee. I recently visited Ganga Vihar and wanted to share my experience, which unfortunately was marred by an unexpected issue. I've been a regular patron of this establishment, appreciating its ambiance and service. However, during my recent visit, I encountered a disappointing situation.

Upon arriving, I needed to quickly drop an email and thought of utilizing my laptop for just five minutes. To my surprise, the restaurant staff informed me that laptop usage was not allowed. I respect rules and policies, but what made this experience more frustrating was the absence of any visible signage indicating such a restriction. In my numerous previous visits, I had never encountered such a policy, and this unexpected change in behavior was quite perplexing.

As a customer who values a comfortable and accommodating environment, this incident left me feeling disappointed. Clear communication about such policies through visible signs can help manage customer expectations and prevent unwelcome surprises. Mahim and Matunga have no shortage of udipi hotels and probably the best known one (on the western side for sure) is Ganga Vihar. This used to be our go-to place during my non meat eating days, though we still order from here occasionally. Had a rare visit recently and didn't have much time so we ordered 3 mains upfront. The Pav Bhaji was excellent, plenty of butter made sure your taste buds had no reason to complain while the spice was spot on, this is a must-have. The Onion Uttapam was a bit too thick, making it a touch too batter-y, but otherwise no complaints. And the third dish was Spring Dosa, think of it as how the Chinese would've prepared it had they come up with dosa. Very Schezwan in taste, and quite filling as well, you won't go wrong with this one. To sum up then, Ganga Vihar will serve you not just yummy south Indian fare, but Punjabi and Chinese as well, plenty of variety, easy on the pocket, and quick service make it option you can always consider.
