I recently visited Shahnaz Hotel after a pilgrimage to Mahim Dargah, seeking a vegetarian meal. Despite my anticipation, the culinary offerings failed to impress.
Upon ordering, I selected the classic Mater Paneer accompanied by Tandoori Roti, Garlic Naan, and finally, Fried Rice. Despite my voracious appetite, the portions seemed substantial for two individuals.
Regrettably, the Mater Paneer lacked the traditional flavors I expected. The gravy appeared undercooked, sporting an unusual light green hue, deviating significantly from the customary preparation. Moreover, the Roti failed to meet basic expectations, proving tough and devoid of the anticipated softness or buttery texture typically associated with Garlic Naan and Tandoori Roti.
As a last resort, I sampled the Fried Rice, only to be met with further disappointment. The dish seemed bereft of its intended flavors, lacking the finesse and balance one would expect from a staple dish.
Overall, the entire meal left much to be desired. Despite the exorbitant rates, the food quality was subpar, failing to justify the high prices. It is evident that their focus lies more on profit margins rather than prioritizing food quality and adhering to authentic recipes.
