Independence Brewing Company - Versova — Restaurant in Mumbai

Independence Brewery has been around Andheri West for almost about 2 years and they have been up to some great stuff of late. I say this because when I had visited this outlet around Aug 2018, I found this brand to be serving some great beer especially for the ones who prefer a strong IPA, with great music, events and a positive vibe to this place. However, there was almost a wanting to crave more for when it came to food.

I happened to visit Independence Brewery for lunch just a few days ago and boy was I delighted to see the new menu. I could not drink a lot due to work hours but did grab on the Mulberry Red Refreshing beer. Mild, a little sweet but a perfect companion for your summer lunch.

One of the longest running stand up venues in the city with the likes of Aditi Mittal, Urooj Ashfaq, Punit Pania, Akash Mehta, Kautuk Srivastava etc performing routinely at stand up nights (every Sunday). Wednesday Jam - Young Independent/cover artists perform renditions of classic/contemporary Hindi songs with a generous mix of originals every Wednesday 8 pm onwards. Other events: Art & Craft workshops, Poetry open mics & mental health-related events on Saturday afternoons.

Beers in focus:

Pulp Fiction - Brewed every summer, this one is a hot seller with batches running out within a few days. Mango based are to watch out for. The stock just runs out..!!! The Pie Series - Fruit infused sour ale - perennially on tap. Fruits used range from Blueberries, Mulberry (currently on tap) to peaches.

I had tried the following:

▶ Beef Tenderloin and Smoked Chili FryThis was more like a south Indian Mangalorean Costal flavor. Strong on spices, Peanuts, Curry leaves and the smokiness of the meat. Rated – 4/5

▶ Bohri Style Smoked Mutton Samosa Those perfect mommy style homemade Samosas with a thin delicate outer puff pastry fried to perfect golden. Served with a tangy Tamarind sauce and green mint chutney. Eat it the way you want, you’re sure to take ore of this home…!!Rated – 5/5

▶ Soy Chilli Pork Chops – Am a big fan of Pork. To elaborate this dish, Pork Ribs glazed with soy sauce, Potato Wedges and a decent amount of green garnish turned my afternoon to - all eat and go to sleep. Rated – 5/5

▶ Grilled Lamb Burger – Like they say love at first sight, a true burger looks impressive right from the work go – The perfect bun (like the classic all American Cheese Burger), the perfect patty and the perfect amount on non-slurp juice. This one had all 3 tick marks and the Lamb served with Tzatziki, a Greek side sauce made of Yogurt, Cucumber, Garlic, and often mintRated – 5/5

▶ Chocolate Mousse - This is a heaven for dark chocolate fans. True dark chocolate, more dark Chocolate soil, Pistachio Crumb served with crunchy Almond Praline – take a bow for this dish (Please be advised this has a dark bitter taste & people expecting sweetness just because this is a dessert, read up on DARK CHOCOLATES) Rated – 5/5

Independence Brewing Company (IBC ) is the place where you can have freshly crafted beer. They have approximately 9 or 10 Carft Beer which taste great. So we decided to visit this place and try some of their beer with some cuisine.

✔️AMBIENCE - The place both outdoor and indoor seating area. This place can easily handle a large number of crowds. They had a very positive vibe theme with hanging lights seating for 2 to a large number of people on a single table. Some friendship quotes on the wall with abstract. So the overall ambience is great. . For Ambience 9/10

✔️HOSPITALITY - We were welcomed by the receptionist and guided to the table. We had the greetings from the captain with the menu. They even told their best dishes and beer which people liked most. The staff was professional and energetic. . For Hospitality 10/10

✔️FOOD & DRINKS - As i mentioned earlier this place is famous for their crafted beer so give it a try. They also serve tasters for their beers you can order that and decide which to order. So we had the tasters and decided to go with the California Fanboi. We had a mocktail, a couple of starters, pasta, pizza and finally a dessert. . California Fanboi ( Beer ) - It was smooth, a little fizz and good taste. You will surely like this or else you can go with other options. RECOMMENDED. . Mandarin Chilli ( Mocktail) - One of the best mocktail i had. It was tar and spicy. It will really hit your taste buds. MUST TRY. . Mushroom Cannolo - This was a good mushroom dish. The thin crunchy outer layer with mushroom filling inside is served with mushroom cream. It was yummy and delicious. If you eat mushrooms it MUST TRY for you. . Harissa Cottage Cheese - Paneer covered with chilli, garlic sauce, parley soft grilled served with Pita Bread. And it was so yummy. RECOMMENDED. . Spaghetti Aglo Olio - This was a simple yet fulfilling dish. Spaghetti tossed in chilli, olive oil, garlic, and parsley. RECOMMENDED. . Primavera Pizza - Thin crunchy base with pizza sauce and lots of cheese topped with bell peppers, mushroom, broccoli, baby corn. It was suggested by them and it was worth trying. RECOMMENDED. . Baklava Cheese Cake - This was basically the cheese cake topped with flakes of baklava. The cheese cake was soft and it melted as soon as you put it in your mouth. The combo was great. Not so sweet yet delightful. MUST TRY. . For Food & Drinks 10/10

We did the Independence Brewing company on Wednesday evening and I must say that this place was more than what we expected. If you love your brews fresh then you would definitely want to try this place as they have a variety of beers and you can ask for tasters as well at a nominal amount. To add to it, everything about this place, right from the ambience to the music and food, all of it was just amazing. The staff were super attentive and extremely cordial.

We started off with a mocktail, Indian Gooseberry cooler - this fresh, fruity drink had my heart! I totally loved the mellow concoction to bits. Briston, our table manager recommended this one!

Munich Mischeif (Marzen) - This in-house lager brew is a rich malt character with a semi dry hop finish. Beer lovers will definitely enjoy this one!

We also did a couple of starters which were recommended by our server Briston. Once again, excellent recommendation.

Lamb Adana Kebab - A wonderful way to start your meals. This is the juicy well marinated mutton kebab with a portion of fresh salad chopped peppers. This one was so colourful and appetizing! To sum it up this dish was finger licking good.

Harrissa Chicken Skewers - This was one of the tastiest dishes I have had in a while. This combination of the chicken skewers with the tzatziki dip was simply delicious. I would urge you to try this dish!

For mains, we did: Herb Roast Chicken - This is just a classic dish you cannot go wrong with. Enjoy a pair of chicken leg pieces, herb roasted topped with BBQ sauce which gives it extra flavour and served with charred carrot, sizable quantity of mash & wilted garlic. Another lovable dish!

Indonesian style spiced chicken pizza - If you are a pizza lover then you must try the Indonesian style spiced chicken pizza. It has pepperoni and sliced jalapeños with a tonne of cheese! What a mouth watering combination. 2-3 people can easily devour this pizza.

For dessert, we called for a Baklava Cheesecake - Creamy, rich and indulgent cheesecake layer sandwiched between sweetened, crunchy and flaky filo pastry and the classic baklava inspired nut filling, this recipe is a luscious twist to your regular cheesecake. It's spectacular! A must try in my books.

Briston ensured we had a lovely time at IBC. Their recommendations and service made our dinner a memorable affair. Can't wait to go back for more! This outlet is far more fun than the one at Powai. Do make...
