If you’re a seafood lover in Mumbai and haven’t eaten at Nityananda Lunch Home in Goregaon East, you’re seriously missing out. Tucked away on a busy stretch, this humble joint has earned a legendary reputation among locals for serving affordable, flavorful, and authentic coastal cuisine. What makes Nityananda truly special is its inclusiveness — you’ll see everyone from daily wage workers to white-collar professionals eating side by side, enjoying the same spicy, satisfying food.
The restaurant specializes in Malvani, Konkani, and South Indian seafood, and the flavors are as real as it gets. Their seafood curries — especially the prawns curry, bangda curry, surmai gravy, and fish thalis — are packed with the kind of rustic, homestyle masalas that make you want to lick your fingers. The curries tend to be on the oilier side, but that’s part of the charm — it gives the dishes a rich, bold taste that’s hard to find in high-end restaurants.
I personally love their South Indian seafood curries — the balance of coconut, curry leaves, and tamarind is spot on. The fish is always fresh, and the portions are generous for the price. Even the simplest meal of rice and curry with a fried fish on the side feels hearty and fulfilling.
Yes, they offer home delivery and are available on Swiggy and Zomato, which is convenient — but to be honest, the real value comes from dining in. The rising delivery charges and taxes often end up making the same ₹200 meal cost ₹300+. Instead, walk into Nityananda, grab a seat, and enjoy a hot, freshly cooked meal served within minutes. The quick service, buzzing atmosphere, and strong smell of seafood and spices make the experience all the more memorable.
It’s not a fancy place by any means — simple tables, quick-moving staff, a menu that hasn’t changed in years — but it doesn’t need to be. The food speaks for itself. It’s no wonder Nityananda has such a strong base of loyal, repeat customers who keep coming back for comfort food that never fails.

Read moreLocated a kilometre away from Goregaon Railway station on the East side and opposite Novelty Stationery store, Nityanand Lunch Home is known for its authentic and pocket friendly Malvan and Konkan seafood.
The fried fish (starters) dishes that I tried were truly delicious – the Prawns Koliwada was crispy and flavorful, the Surmai tawa fry was perfectly cooked, and the Halwa tawa fry was melt-in-your-mouth tender. I also enjoyed the Fish Fingers and the Crab lollipop, which were both cooked to perfection. For mains we had Prawns Kolhapuri, Steam rice and Rice bhakri. The gravy was spicy and flavorful, just the way I like it.
Although the place is a bit short on space, the service was excellent – friendly, attentive, and quite fast despite the crowd.
The entrance is a step higher and therefore disqualifies as wheelchair accessible. ♿🚫 There are NO toilets/washrooms 🚻🚫
Overall, I'd recommend Nityanand Lunch Home to anyone looking for a affordable...

Then had called restaurant 3-4 times from mobile but call went unanswered hence had called from my wife's phone but again no response, after sometime got a call on wife's number (must be they would have thought that it was for order), we explained everything and then call got disconnected from restaurant. Had called again after sometime from wife's phone, got answered by some other person but again got disconnected after explaining everything. The behavior shown by restaurant is very unethical, had paid full amount and extra amount so that I should get order before time but no use. Very unprofessional behavior, not recommended to anyone. Will be filling a case in consumer court against...
