Extremely Disappointing Experience â Not What It Used to Be
Iâve been visiting Udupi Vihar in Goregaon East for years and used to genuinely enjoy the food and service here. It was one of those go-to places for a quick, satisfying South Indian meal. However, my recent visit was nothing short of a huge disappointment, and I feel compelled to share this experience.
We ordered Pav Bhaji, which turned out to be the worst Pav Bhaji Iâve ever hadâcompletely tasteless, overly oily, and the pav was dry and almost stale. Iâve had better Pav Bhaji at roadside stalls. Itâs shocking to see a once-trusted place serve such substandard food.
The bigger letdown, however, was the staff and service. The waiters were rude, inattentive, and seemed completely disinterested in serving customers. When we pointed out the quality of food, instead of addressing it politely, the waiter argued back and dismissed our concern. No basic courtesy, no willingness to listenâjust plain arrogance.
Itâs really sad to see how much this place has declined after the lockdown. What once was a clean, consistent, and family-friendly restaurant has now turned into a poorly managed space with bad service and worse food. I left feeling disappointed and honestly, disheartened.
I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously and brings back the quality and service that once made this place special. Until then, I wonât be returning, and I wouldnât recommend it to anyone looking for a good...
   Read moreHi, as a 8 star Google Local Guide, I know my reviews and photos are being followed by lots and lots of people around the world. And based on my reviews I have seen many people taking decisions.
So for me 100% honest review is everything. And it is the same case with my this review.
So let's start digging into it and please read it till the end as to how my overall experience was, since stars are significant but in depth review makes things crystal clear for all my readers.
Food @Starters (Starters great, we ordered very cryspy and that is a starter which my kids enjoyed. So definitely should be on your list of order)
@Soup Nice texture and flavour, we ordered manchow soup and was good. Con: Asked for repeat fried noodles, but didn't came till the very end.
@Pizza Good for kids
@French Fries Good for kids
@Paper Masala Dosa Great taste. But repeat chatni didn't came till the very end
@Chaas Very nice and tasty
@Main course Punjabi diced vegetable sabji was very Spicey. But Naan and Kulcha was good
@Gulab jambun Very good and tasty
@Filter Coffee Best one after all the food
@Service Fast but not so great
So overall I would suggest to come with your friends and family and enjoy the food.
And gave 4 stars because, I was not happy with the response of Captain when we told that the sabji was too Spicey, and we specifically told while ordering that we need less spicy.

Coffee is served in traditional copper glass and vaati. Dum biryani served in traditional handi with dough covering it.
Decor is great. Service is nice and fast. Thankfully there is not a very long waiting line on Sunday evening. Prices are very pocket friendly and economical.
Ordered Paneer Basil Garlic Tikka starter - absolutely fabulous! Tasted great even without the aid of chutney. With a mild taste of basil and garlic. Worth every Paisa.
Also ordered Hongkong Fried Rice which was a deal breaker for me. It ruined our evening, it was that bad. Too much masala and too much tadka of red chillis - this red chillis must have disintegrated because the seeds of the chillies were present in every bite. Absolutely no resemblance to Chinese, not even to the Desi variety of roadside Chinese. I had to inundate it with vinegar and soy sauce to make it palatable. Next time I would strictly avoid Chinese in this hotel. Not even order by mistake. This is the reason for 2 less stars. Otherwise, all else deserved a 5 star rating.
Finished off the dinner with American nut Kulfi which was fresh (unlike other restaurants whose stock of kulfi is not...
