One of the most popular & famous chain of restaurants in India & aboard.. My favourite destination for North Indian & North west frontier cuisine restaurant is Punjab Grill.. In Mumbai, they have many outlets, hope more to open soon..
Since today 14th of April is Baisakhi, the harvest festival.. I wanted to celebrate this occasion in the R City Mall outlet, this is running successfully for more than 5 years..
Was visiting the mall for some weekend shopping with my loved ones..
In the 3rd floor, I found my favourite restaurant & there was a reason to celebrate too - Baisakhi๐ This particular outlet serves only A la carte ...
Lovely cosy romantic ambience, typical royal touch in the Interiors, one wall is devoted to the various awards the Group has received .. Another wall is decked up with the pictures of Royal family..
Spacious restaurant with around 80 cover up. Lovely traditional punjabi songs & Bollywood chart busters were playing in the background..
I should thank the excellent cordial helpful active team of this restaurant - Service by Manager Shaheen Khan, Steward Sovan Singh and Captain Sameer Gaikwad.
Helped us to select the dishes & drinks.. Served food quick, kept on changing our plates & cutlery after every Started with thick yummy Mango Lassi, no extra ice is added, one of the best lassi, I had in this summer season.. Rola Cola Virgin Mojito - nice tangy chat pata, like kala khatta with a hint of fresh mint, very refreshing.. Kokam Masala - the ultimate cooler of the season. Loaded with health benefits, most favourite drink of Maharashtra..
Appetizers Non Veg Kebab Platter (boneless) which consisted of Murgh Tikka Punjab Grill(spicy) Murgh Malai Tikka(non spicy) Raunaqeen Seekh Mutton(spicy) Ajwaini Fish Tikka(tandoor river sole medium spicy) Punjab Grill is world famous for the kebabs, each & every kind, served in the platter, was excellent & maintained the authentic taste ..
Mains- Patiala Shahi Machhi Curry(river sole deep fried and sauteed in cashew based gravy)- The creamy gravy, soft fish pieces with mild spices, azwain, the perfect balanced rich fish curry..
Meat Punjab Grill (pot cooked mutton in tomato based gravy medium spicy) - another loved signature dish, tender boneless well marinated mutton pieces were slow cooked in the traditional way in pure ghee..
Served with Lehsuni Naan with Steamed Rice
Desserts are the most sweet part of any meal specially for Baisakhi,
5 lovely traditional signature desserts ๐๐
Chocolate flavoured Gulab Jamun - a lovely way to satisfy the chocolate lovers like us..
Phirni - saffron phirni was yummy creamy.
Rabri with lichi pieces, made it more yummy & loved that soft lichi with thick creamy rabri..
Rasmalai - my all time favourite Indian dessert..
Paan Shots - it's the best way Punjab Grill shows the love to their foodies in the end of the lovely meals..
A good 3 course vegetarian meal will cost around INR 3550 ( without drinks/mocktails) for 2 people.. Non-veg meal will be around INR 4550 (without drinks/mocktails)
I highly recommend this place to enjoy good food, while you're visiting this mall ... Mall parking is available Wheel chair accessible Totally Hygienic Excellent service by super efficient...
ย ย ย Read moreWe visited this restaurant after getting good feedback from mutual acquaintances. However, our experience was disappointing. From the time we arrived till we left, we felt like it was a burden to serve us at this establishment.
Arriving at the Restaurant: Even though we had reserved the table at 8:30 PM, it was not ready or no "reserved" tag was placed to indicate. However, we didn't have to wait for long (only 2 mins) and the table was available.
At the Restaurant: Table was provided for 6 people only whereas we were 7. We adjusted though. But there was no placement, no dish, no quarter plate and no cutlery for the 7th person. We had to ask twice to get this. Still there was no placemat provided. When we asked for the baby chair, we were told it would cause hinderance to service. Why does the restaurant have baby chair if it cannot be used? Also, it should be common etiquette in the hospitality business to atleast accomodate for guests with proper plates, cutlery and glass by default. It was embarrassing for us to ask for this twice.
During Dinner: Food is very average for its price. We would've forgiven the service if the food was great. But for its pricing, the food is embarrassingly average. Fish tikka was bland, Chana Masala which is basic thoroughfare in any restaurant was bad, Rice was undercooked. Service was clumsy and busy. Only saving grace was the Dal. The staff was busy clearing our plates rather than ensuring we had a nice experience. I can understand that it was Saturday night and the restaurant was packed but good service should be a practice any time of the week. No smiles, no asking, no suggestions, no welcome. It was almost like they wanted us to stuff our mouths and leave ASAP.
Restaurant and Ambience: Restaurant is good looking and would feel better with less people. But on an evening like Saturday Night music was blasting when its already packed. Why? People were talking and already the place was crowded. Why do you need music? Let people enjoy little silence. Frankly it was disturbing.
While leaving the restaurant: Obviously we didn't tip and had the service charge removed (because lack of service). However, not once did the staff even bother to see if we had a good time. They asked us do you want any dessert, we said no..then okay.. bye bye. Also, no mouth refreshments were available or even offered.
Overall it was a bad experience for me and my family. I will never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Hope the management takes notice of this criticism in the right spirit...
ย ย ย Read morePunjab Grill needs no introduction. It's the quintessential place to have Punjabi food with loads of Makhan and ghee.
I love the ambience as it exhuberates a very comfortable family vibe. A destination for a formal and proper dinning with lip smakcing food.
The place has been designed to accommodate a small as well as a big group. Weekends could be crowded so reserving a table can be sensible.
Great service and good mocktails. I had Pan Mojito and a pineapple Mojito.
Diverting our attentions to the food, a wonderful array of vegetarian and non vegetarian foods. So let's review what I had.
Murgh Badami Shorba ๐๐- A wonderful departure from the usual cornflour soups. A mild light broth infused with almond milk, chicken veggies and crunchy almond soup. Absolutely divine!
Salmon Fish Tikka๐๐๐๐ - When the videshi salmon visited India.. we just tandoored it ๐๐๐. The fish absorbed the flavours very well and still managed to retain its flaky property. Pink inside and melts in your mouth.
Dahi ke Kebab - A decent option for vegetarian. Hung curd infused with mild spices and nuts and the deep-fried for sometime. Crisp outaide mushy inside. I just wanted to outside to be more crisp and with less cardamom
#Chiken wings with tamrind - If you are a chicken wings fan then this is a must try. Fat juciy whole wings grilled with lovely tandoor spices and then coated with sweet tamrind chutney. ๐๐๐ My best so far.
Shammi Kebab - delicates meat party served on a saffron infused bread. I usually love this option.
Mutton Rogan Josh - A very silky velveltt curry with tender so tender that it melts in your mouth. Paired with saffron roti and garlic naan this was heaven. I don't think I need to say more.
Kuch Meetha !!!
Who does not like a meetha.. ๐ค๐ค๐ค๐ค
Rasmalai - My poision . I love this dish as it has a very mild milky base without it being too sweet. The saffron mild was just perfect. The chopped pistachio were like jewellery on a grand necklace. Loved it
Lychee Rabdi - Regular Rabbdi infused with canned lychee. Too sweet for me
Gulab Jamun - A twist with tradtion. So there were three favours. Chocolate, white chocolate and cardamon. Each different still so tasty.
Overall
A great family restaurant that serves good Punjabi food making your heart and tummy do balle...
