Located near Dhobi Talao in Mumbai, Sassanian Restaurant is a delightful destination for anyone looking to experience a slice of Mumbai’s rich Parsi heritage. This iconic eatery, just 3-4 kilometers away from the Gateway of India and Marine Drive, offers a unique combination of old-world charm and delicious Parsi cuisine that has been drawing in crowds for decades.

Ambiance and Decor:

The moment you step into Sassanian, you are transported to a different era. The restaurant exudes a quaint old-world vibe, with its antique furniture, wooden tables, and classic decor that speak volumes of its history. The walls are adorned with unique images and memorabilia that capture the essence of Mumbai’s past, adding a nostalgic touch to the dining experience. The vintage ceiling fans, checkered floors, and simple yet elegant furnishings enhance the rustic charm of the place, making it a cozy and inviting spot for a meal.

Culinary Delights:

Sassanian is celebrated for its authentic Parsi cuisine, offering a variety of dishes that cater to both traditional tastes and adventurous palates. Among the must-try items is the bun maska, a simple yet heavenly combination of soft buns slathered with generous amounts of butter. Pair it with their tea, a classic Irani chai that is strong, aromatic, and the perfect accompaniment to any meal.

For those looking for something more substantial, the bhurji pav is a popular choice. The scrambled eggs are cooked to perfection with just the right amount of spices, served with soft pav that complements the dish beautifully. Another highlight is the keema pav, where the perfectly spiced minced meat is served with freshly baked pav, creating a dish that is both hearty and flavorful.

Service and Hospitality:

Sassanian is known not only for its food but also for its quick and efficient service. The staff are friendly, prompt, and attentive, ensuring that your dining experience is smooth and enjoyable. Despite the hustle and bustle typical of Mumbai eateries, the team manages to maintain a level of service that keeps customers coming back for more.

Conveniently located just a short drive from the Gateway of India and Marine Drive, Sassanian is easily accessible for both locals and tourists exploring the city. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, it’s a great stop on your journey through Mumbai. The best part? The pricing at Sassanian is very reasonable, making it an affordable option for anyone wanting to enjoy delicious Parsi cuisine without spending a fortune.

Conclusion:

Sassanian, an iconic Parsi hotel with a rich history, offers a unique experience that transports you to a bygone era. The ambiance, adorned with antique furniture, carries the charm of yesteryears, creating a nostalgic and heartwarming atmosphere. While the interiors may be a bit dated, they contribute to the establishment's historical charm.

The standout feature of Sassanian undoubtedly lies in its culinary offerings. The menu boasts traditional Parsi delights, and each dish is a testament to the culinary expertise preserved through generations. The must-try item is the Bun Maska – a delightful treat that encapsulates the essence of Parsi flavors. The freshness of the bun combined with the richness of the maska creates a perfect symphony of taste and texture.

The old-world charm of Sassanian adds a unique dimension to the dining experience, making it more than just a meal; it's a journey through time. However, it's worth noting that the interiors could use a bit of refurbishment to enhance the overall dining environment. A touch of modernity without compromising the historic feel would make Sassanian even more appealing. Despite this, the impeccable food and the nostalgic ambiance make Sassanian a place worth revisiting for those seeking a taste of...

Looking out for a place serving Parsi cuisine in mumbai? Sasanian in Marine lines is the place you should visit!

What I like about this place This place is found in 1913 and gives the 90s feel once you enter here. The ceiling fan, the tables, chairs, the whole ambience is beautiful with rustic vibes. The food here is awesome. So they serve snacks, bakery items and main course mostly. The food items here range from Parsi food, Chinese food, bakery items and few desserts. The best part about this place is with great taste and quality, the food is is priced very reasonably. It is a 10mins walking distance from both marines lines and churchgate station.

Must try food- Chicken puff (The shape is like a quieche and a good amount of filling) 2.Mutton puff (A round puff pastry with mutton filling) 3.Chicken shashlik sizzler (Chicken with sauce, sauteed veggies and french fries on a bed of rice) Laganu custard! (One of the best custards with a caramel and mild gingery flavour) 5.Kheema pav Bun maska Raspberry soda. Chicken dhansak (Note that this is not very spicy)

Do try Chicken Schezwan puff as it is new on the menu!

Sassanian 🥘🍴 It's the one of the few remaining Irani cafes in Mumbai and has retained its vintage heritage quite well. This restaurant/bakery was founded in 1913 and is still standing out strong. It's famous for its kheema pav, puffs, mawa cake, bun maska, Irani chai and Sizzlers. 😍 This outlet is located just opposite of the shakuntala stationery and dry fruits store which is 5 min away from marine lines station. The ambiance of this place has a historic old charm, it makes you feel as if you traveled back in time. The staff of this place is polite and service is little slow but worth the wait. What I tried Chicken triple fried rice Nicely prepared fried rice with scrambled egg on it. Gravy was good too. The quantity of it is good enough for 2 person. Egg fried rice Had a huge scrambled egg on perfectly cooked rice. Chicken shashlik sizzler 😍😍😍 My first impression of this dish was wow. A well executed dish in Iranian style . Had fries, some veggies and juicy soft chicken gravy on the bed of rice. Worth every penny. Banana milkshake A nice super satisfying milkshake made from ripe bananas with right amount of sweetness. Food: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Value for money: 5/5
