We had a brunch reservation on a Sunday at 12, we were punctual but the restaurant hadn't opened yet. They said we will call you once open and we went roaming about the mall....no one called but after we sauntered over after a while they were open and we were seated immediately. Well that little hiccup out of the way, let me begin with the actual review. We were seated by the window that overlooked there alfresco dining area and the view was nice. The ambiance within is bright and colourful. Music was just right without being intrusive or annoying to the conversation. I would have appreciated an on-site rest room as going to use the malls is a bit tedious and the air-conditioning to be a few more degrees cooler. Now the food and drinks were on a whole new playing field. In simple words, it was divine. First let's get the con out of the way - their miso grilled/glazed broccoli which they are apparently famous for! The sauce/glaze was so complex and multilayered....I wanted to bath in it! But the brocolli itself was so tough, forget chewing, we could barely cut it with a serrated knife! Now the the good stuff! The two cocktails we ordered; one a watermelon vanilla concoction and the other a Paloma melon something were to die for! Infact I ordered another Paloma one. The smoked Norwegian salmon and the SAZ fried chicken appetizers were tasty, complex, decadent. The hot sauce that accompanied the chicken was so mind blowing that we ordered it on the side again with our mains. Both of us utterly enjoyed pastas we ordered - the crab with squid ink linguine and the truffle and cheese tagliatelle (I asked to switch to fusilli). Both pastas were cooked perfectly al dente and each had their own rich complex sauces and toppings. My cheese pasta was so good that I almost regretted that it was over once I finished the dish! After all that all we could muster the courage for was to share a basque cheesecake between us. And boy that was the perfect cherry on top of an awesome brunch. It came with two coulis - one was an extremely tart, what I can one guess was kokum flavoured and much needed to cut through the richness of the cheesecake and the second was raspberry and saffron. The dessert blew our already amazed palates! Service was a bit chaotic as our table was handled by too many wait staff - there wasn't one server assigned, but that being said it was easy to flag a server down and they'd immediately come over (sometimes two lol!), were cheerful and soiled plates and glasses were cleared quickly. Price wise this is not a cheap place if you want to eat as well as we did - we dropped over 10k on our meal(no regrets). But if you just want a nice drink or two with a snack, it's quite economical for the quality and...
Read moreSAZ American Brasserie at Jio World Drive is one good-looking restaurant. Walk in through the blue doors and the first thing that strikes you is how spacious it is — bright and airy with high ceilings and full-length windows. Its location on the ground floor of the mall combined with an indoor-outdoor space gives the restaurant a stand-alone feel. Design veers between elegant and casual pop with lavish chandeliers, a brass bar façade, and whimsical bunny rabbit wallpaper on the ceiling. There is a cosy drinking nook. This is SAZ’s second foray in the city, after the much-smaller SAZ Café at Lower Parel, which is meant to be an extension of the BKC outlet. The menu at BKC is larger. Named after the New Orleans cocktail Sazerac, the restaurant is classic Americana on the plate — pizzas, pasta, tacos, burgers, grills, and the like. Dishes are familiar yet elevated to gourmet level without being overly fussy. Expect guacamole prepared table-side, hand-rolled pasta from the live kitchen, and an entire page of desserts. SAZ’s beverage menu has a range of spirits, wines, and “buzz-free” drinks, but it’s the cocktail menu that catches your eye. Apart from the eponymous Sazerac, the cocktails heavily reference pop culture, whether it’s the bourbon-based Golden Snitch with pumpkin seed milk or Not So Ugly Betty with tequila and spiced pomegranate or Lillibet with tea-infused gin . The signature guacamole is deliciously creamy and served with housemade chips, along with the Wafu Garden Salad, an incredibly light salad of hydroponic lettuce, avocado, and cherry tomatoes, topped with an edible togarashi-dusted butterfly made of potato starch and seaweed. The restaurant also plans to host pop-ups, bar takeovers, and a DJ console will soon turn part of the restaurant into a high-energy space late in...
Read morePathetic service.. I had booked this hotel via Zomato & was eligible for a 10% discount if paid via Zomato App. However By mistake I forgot to pay via Zomato app & paid the hotel directly via credit card. Immediately after paying the bill, I realized my mistake & requested the hotel staff to cancel my payment & reverse the same on my card & I simultaneously offered them to pay via Zomato app so that I will be eligible for a 10% discount that will be paid by Zomato & NOT by the hotel. However, the hotel staff said that they won't be able to cancel & reverse the payment to my card despite the fact that any merchant can cancel & reverse the payment after 4-5 days as I understand that it takes time to reverse card payments. I was willing to make double payments in effect (1 that was already made by mistake directly to them & the 2nd one that I offered to pay again via Zomato App so that they can check & confirm the receipt of payment via Zomato & then finally cancel & reverse the earlier payment made my me directly to them) & was willing to take the payment reversal risk on my end but despite that the hotel SAZ- American Brasserie shamelessly refused..! Even restaurants that are 10 times smaller than this restaurant give reversal payments in such cases as a service gesture. I also asked them to deduct credit card charges if any that they might have to pay for such a reversal but even that was refused by them. Basically the last thing on their mind is customer service. They made a total mockery of themselves. Will never trust these guys who don't respond to genuine service requests.
Food was also not good. Service was self service as the food used to be kept on the table without any one asking for it...
