So Glad “Someplace Else” now finally in Mumbai. It’s a popular Pub at the park in Kolkata that has hosted iconic bands and now opens its doors in Mumbai at the JIO Drive. They have been carrying their 25 years legacy. Someplace else serves up a curated experience of music, food and spirits ensuring guests takes back more than just memories of their visit.
The spot at BKC is just so overwhelming with 3500 Sq ft large with Bright and Vibrant colors all around. The dark wood paneling and leather seats from Kolkata have been swapped out for cane lamps, a double-sided bar and brightly coloured wall furnishings just Wow…
Someplace Else could be spot you go for a post-office catch up with drinks and live music, as work from home winds down.

The place transforms into a neon paradise with pretty lights on the walls and lamb decors on the ceiling.
We went for an early dinner around 7 PM and the place got packed up in the next 45 mins (Prior booking is recommended on Weekends)
The bar houses all premium spirits along with a special section for Japanese whiskies while the menu offers Continental, Asian & North Indian cuisine.
We started off with couple of cocktails “Narcos” & “Smoky Anguria”
Narcos was a blend of Jack Daniels & Jägermeister while the Smoky Auguria was again JD based mixed along with passion fruit, watermelon & rosemary - Loved the prep and blend on both.
Bombay’s favorite Manchow soup was the textbook soup we been having since childhood served along with friend noodles. The Seafood treasure soup was again perfect for the seafood lovers.
For appetizers we went with “Red Zesty Tandoori Prawns” which were medium sized (8 pieces) served along with mint chutney dip. The spice quotient on the prawns was just right and was perfectly tandoored. The “Mediterranean Platter” with Zaatar spiced BBQ chicken along with pita breads and cucumber/carrot slices was not only filling but a treat to the palates. The hummus topped with BBQ chicken gave us well balanced flavors in each bite.
Our Mains was an Asian delicacy of Garlic coriander & oyster prawns along with Wok tossed Hakka noodles, the noodles complimented the flavors of gravy and the buttery prawns were delicious as well. The “Pan seared chicken breast” came with a portion of mashed potatoes, veggies and peppercorn sauce . the flavors & presentation was on point here – Well balanced meal!
Finally to the desserts and unfortunately it disappointed me – The “Lemon Cheesecake” was not freshly baked and lacked the creamy texture and bit hard for my palates and the ”Tiramisu” was also not memorable as it lacked the moistness. Hoping the Dessert section can be re-looked by the team here!
Overall this place is a must visit – Food & Drinks are on point and will not disappoint you – The vibe screams weekend mood always – Do...
Read moreWe booked Someplace else for the 25th Dec family lunch. The decor is vibrant and colourful. It's a tiny little place with a very cosy and warm vibe to spend your afternoon / evening.
We chose to go with a la carte but they do offer Buffet that looked decent.
Food: Extremely good. We had ordered two mains consisting of a chicken curry and mutton curry and two starters consisting of Thecha Chicken and Madhurai Mutton Ghee Roast accompanied by Masala Naan, Cheese Chilly Kulcha and Rice. The meats were tender and juicy ..perfectly cooked that went well with rice and nicely flavoured and fluffy Naan and crispy Kulcha's. The art of cooking tender and juicy meat is not an easy task and they have nailed this art.
Bar: They have some amazing cocktails and Mocktails especially the Elderflower based Gin and Mulled wine. Sangria was equally good and so was the ginger based mocktail.
Music: There was live music which was worth enjoying although it started late. We were seated very close to the stage and at one point our mother couldn't take it no more. Well, that's our fault not realising the place isn't very big and tables are decently close to each other.
Service: Warm but extremely bad. It looked like the staff was more focussed in assisting guests who had booked a buffet. They did apologise for their bad service at the end of our meal after we had to request them to serve us some drinking water, serving spoons (mains were served without serving spoons) and even trying to grab their attention for taking the order
Seating: Pathetically uncomfortable. They mostly have high chairs which is not convenient for older people and lower seating was booked for the Buffet patrons. The table for lover seatings were more of a coffee table size and we wonder how one would be comfortable seating there.
Toilet: Being a part of Jio World Mall toilet is very inconveniently away from the restaurant. Can be a bit discomforting for an older person.
Verdict: Warmth of the attendance, food and timely apologies have made us appreciate this place more. It's worth a visit if you can manuvre certain...
