2nd Visit Review (0/5): The last time we were here, we totally loved each and every thing here. The food, the hospitality, the ambience.
So yesterday thought of going there once again, they have recently renovated their place and increased their sitting capacity. Also there have had their share of fame since their reel has gone viral recently.
But when you increase the tables you should be able to handle the incoming customers, So yesterday after sitting at the table outside we waited for 15 mins for someone to come and take our order but no one , no one showed up at our table. Even after calling the manager he chose to ignore us, then trying to get attention of another waiter who again said yes coming and then chose to ignore us. When you have around 15 tables at your renovated outlet but just 1 waiter to take orders and a Manager who seems to not care about treating the customers as priority this is bound to happen.
We finally decided to walk out of the restaurant and go to a nearby restaurant which served us delicious food and gave us a proper service.
PS: to the management kindly try and improve your service or else even though the good food that you serve won't be enough to hold back the customers. I saw many disappointed and frustrated faces of various customers at your restaurant yesterday. Also last time we visited we were served with a smiling gentleman who I guess was a manager back then. 1st Visit Review (5/5) A simple south Indian breakfast on a weekend morning gives immense pleasure, came to know about this restaurant from my mother who had a kitty party here đ.
Decided to try this small cafe and it completely blew me over by the whole simplicity of the place yet the ambience is decorated in such a way so as to give one nice experience.
We asked the server to suggest us some different and unique dishes. We had the following dishes: Srilankan Curry Idli: Mini Idlis in a bowl and the curry is prepared from Coconut milk very different and filling dish (4/5)
Kerala Masala Dosa: Nice Crispy dosa with again a very different masala than the ones we are used to having. Loved this as well (5/5)
The good old Filter Coffee to finish our meal.
A must visit for vegetarians and easy on the pocket as...
Read moreSo I don't really have a dosa in Bangalore because I like the superb Dosas we get in Bombay...
And
Being born, brought up, produced and developed in amchi Mumbai doesn't help.
But
My wife is born and brought up in Banglore and she just can't stand the crispy thin dosas they make in Bombay.
So
She would insist on me flying her down to Bangalore 24 times a year to get a taste of things.
Off late this was becoming difficult...
So Benne Dosa outlets in Bombay are my only hope to save my marriage.
The hopeless one in Bandra West disappointed us last week and my wife almost left for her mother's place till I saw a reel on Instagram...
Conditioning her with zero expectations I took her here...
Right after the first morsal she said "I FORGIVE You" instead of "I am sorry" but that's okay... My marriage is saved...
We had the Topi Dosa and Ghee Podi Masala dosa. Both were good.
She got adventurous with Paniyaram but it didn't turn out the way she wanted it so made me deduct one star.
Sheera was to die for, black coffee was cold but filter coffee which my wife had was good.
Service is a little slow and roles amongst the staff aren't divided properly. The staff is enthusiastic but only one chap (I think the owner) understood the Banglore vibe and understood the order properly.
Nobody would find out because most of the people eating here were pure veg options seeking Gujjus and not exactly South Indians. In spite of the number of Gujjus in the house, the place is amazingly quite... South Indian discipline I guess.
I hope this...
Read moreHeard about this place on Instagram and drove 18kms to eat on a Saturday afternoon around 1pm. This cafe has 3 seating areas and has ONE server, ONE cleaner and ONE manager/owner and that's where the chaos begins. Not enough staff at all.
We ordered the famous benne dosa, button idli and cheese chilly uttapam. The benne dosa was not what benne dosa should be. It took 25 minutes to come to our table and wasn't what a benne dosa is. Wasn't crisp at all. Was lumpy. And came without sambar. We asked the server 5 times for sambar and then the owner a few times but the Sambar never came. Also there was no benne on the dosa. The lady on another table asked for benne and where it was, was told that the dosa was cooked in benne (butter) and not served with it.
And then arrived the cheese chilly uttapa. Cold and bland like you exs heart. No flavour. Just lumpy and undercooked. It had Sambar though served along with so thank you Brahmins cafe.
The button idlis were just Idlis. Nothing bad, nothing great either.
Have a look at the photo attached. The place is downright dirty. The cooking area is where all the trash plates are dumped in. There is filth around the place because they don't have any staff to clean!
All in all, stay away. You've been warned. This isn't benne. This isn't even davingiri. It's just an overhyped dosa place with no chill.
Your corner Udupi Anna is far...
