As a vegetarian visitor constantly on the lookout for a good coffee spot with some decent food options, Third Wave Coffee (थर्ड वेव कॉफी) has become a reliable go-to in Mumbai. It’s not just about the coffee here; it’s about the overall experience – the vibe, the consistent quality, and the surprising array of vegetarian bites that elevate it beyond a mere caffeine stop. For these reasons, I’m happy to give it a solid four-star review. Stepping into a Third Wave outlet, whether it's one of their bustling city center locations or a quieter suburban nook, you're immediately struck by its signature aesthetic. It’s usually a mix of industrial chic and cozy comfort, with exposed brick, warm lighting, and a minimalist design that still manages to feel inviting. There’s a comfortable hum of conversations, the soft clatter of cups, and the ever-present, delightful aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans. It’s the kind of place where you can comfortably work on your laptop, catch up with friends, or simply unwind with a book. The ambiance is consistently appealing and never feels overwhelming, even when crowded. Now, onto the main event: the coffee. As a vegetarian, my coffee choices aren't limited, thankfully, and Third Wave delivers on quality. They offer a diverse range of single-origin beans and various brewing methods. My personal go-to is often a pour-over or a classic flat white with oat milk. The baristas are knowledgeable and passionate, often happy to explain the nuances of different beans. The coffee is consistently well-prepared, flavorful, and hits that perfect balance of richness and aroma. It’s a definite step up from your average chain coffee shop and justifies the slightly higher price point. What truly elevates Third Wave Coffee for a vegetarian like me is their food menu. Beyond the usual cookies and brownies, they offer a commendable selection of savory and sweet vegetarian options. Their Hummus & Pita is a fresh and reliable choice, perfect for a light snack. I’ve also enjoyed their various vegetarian sandwiches and wraps, which are usually packed with fresh vegetables, paneer, or flavorful sauces, proving to be substantial enough for a quick lunch. Their avocado toast is also a popular pick, fresh and well-seasoned. It's refreshing to see a coffee shop that genuinely caters to more than just pastries for vegetarians, offering wholesome and satisfying meals. The service is generally efficient and friendly. Baristas are usually quick to take orders, and food delivery is timely. Even during peak hours, they manage the crowd well, ensuring a relatively smooth experience. Why not a full five stars? While the food options are good, they aren't exceptionally innovative or gourmet – they are solid, reliable choices. Sometimes, during very busy periods, finding a comfortable spot can be a challenge. Also, compared to smaller, independent cafes, the atmosphere can feel a tad generic across different outlets, lacking a truly unique local flair in each one. The prices, while justified by the quality of coffee and ingredients, are definitely on the higher side for a regular haunt. Nonetheless, Third Wave Coffee remains a highly recommended spot for any vegetarian visitor in Mumbai. It’s a sanctuary for good coffee, offering a comfortable environment and a reliable selection of tasty, plant-based food that makes it much more than just a place...
Read moreI visited Third Wave Café in Vile Parle just yesterday, and while there were a few highlights, the overall experience left room for improvement.
Parking: One of the first challenges we faced was parking. There’s no dedicated parking for the café, and you’re left to hunt for a spot nearby. With MTP odd-even parking rules in place, it gets even trickier. Be cautious — incorrect parking here can lead to hefty fines from the Maharashtra Traffic Police.
Ambience & Crowd: When we entered, the café wasn’t too crowded — just a couple of tables were occupied. So, we expected a smooth and quick service experience.
Service: Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. Despite the café being nearly empty, we had to wait 20–25 minutes for our order. The staff seemed distracted and unresponsive — even when we tried to call them over, it felt like they were in their own world. This slow and inattentive service really took away from the overall experience, especially since we were quite hungry.
Food: On the brighter side, the food was excellent. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Roll and Paneer Tikka Roll — both were served in good quantity and tasted delicious. The flavors were spot on, and the food was definitely the highlight of our visit.
Final Thoughts: If you’re visiting for the food, you won’t be disappointed — it’s tasty and filling. But be prepared for slow service and no parking options. Hopefully, the management takes steps to improve the service quality, because the food truly deserves...
