Title: Disappointing Experience at Spice Court
I recently dined at Spice Court with high expectations, given its reputation and the glowing reviews I had come across. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfying, leaving me with little more than disappointment and frustration.
Less Food Quantity: From the outset, the portion sizes were a glaring issue. For the price point, I expected generous servings, but what I received was barely enough to satisfy a light appetite. The appetizers were particularly underwhelming, with meager portions that left us feeling cheated. It felt as though the restaurant was cutting corners, offering less food while charging premium prices. This approach did not set a positive tone for the rest of the meal.
Frequent Interruptions from the Waiter: Another significant issue was the constant interruptions from our waiter. While attentive service is generally appreciated, there is a fine line between attentiveness and intrusion. Our waiter crossed this line multiple times, interrupting our conversation and dining experience with unnecessary questions and frequent visits to our table. This constant disruption made it difficult to enjoy our meal and have a relaxed dining experience.
Sour Taste in Chicken and Prawns: The biggest letdown, however, was the quality of the food itself. Both the chicken and prawns had an off-putting sour taste. Initially, we thought it might be a unique seasoning or preparation method, but it quickly became apparent that the sourness was not intentional or pleasant. It left us questioning the freshness and quality of the ingredients used. When you dine out, especially at a well-regarded establishment, you expect the food to be delicious and of high quality. Unfortunately, Spice Court fell short on this front.
Less Prawns and Too Expensive: Adding insult to injury was the prawn dish we ordered. Not only were the prawns scarce, but the dish was also exorbitantly priced for what was essentially a few small pieces of seafood. The cost did not align with the quantity or the quality, making us feel like we had been overcharged for a subpar dish. This sense of being short-changed was a recurring theme throughout our meal.
Conclusion: In summary, my experience at Spice Court was marred by small portions, intrusive service, unappealing flavors, and an unjustified price tag for the prawn dish. Dining here was a regrettable choice, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a pleasant and satisfying dining experience. Spice Court needs to address these fundamental issues if it hopes to live up to its reputation and provide a dining experience worthy...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of dining at The Spice Court Kitchen & Bar, a restaurant we discovered through a YouTube channel showcasing its Mangalorean cuisine. Intrigued by the mouth-watering visuals and enthusiastic recommendations, we decided to give it a try. We were not only impressed by the tantalizing flavors but also by the wonderful service and ambiance.
Upon arrival, we found the hotel to be aesthetically pleasing and welcoming. However, we did notice that parking might pose a challenge during peak hours due to the restaurant's popularity. Fortunately, the staff was incredibly helpful and assisted us in finding a parking spot. Their attentive service started from the very moment we stepped in, setting a positive tone for our visit.
Our gastronomic journey began with the Surmai fry, and we were taken aback by the generous portion size. The fish was fresh, perfectly cooked, and had a delightful crunch to it. Following this, we savored the Kori roti, a classic Mangalorean chicken curry accompanied by a unique rice-based flatbread. The flavors were authentic, and the spices were well-balanced, capturing the essence of Mangalorean cuisine.
As we were thoroughly enjoying our meal, we decided to take a parcel of the bangda gassi, another coastal delicacy. The blend of flavors in this dish was a testament to the chef's skill and understanding of traditional recipes. The chicken was exceptionally tender, enhancing the overall dining experience.
The staff's attentive and gracious demeanor further added to the enjoyment of our visit. They were helpful in recommending dishes and ensured that our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable.
In conclusion, our visit to The Spice Court Kitchen & Bar was a delightful experience, and we would highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates authentic Mangalorean cuisine. The flavors were on point, the portions were generous, and the staff was incredibly hospitable. Despite the potential parking challenge, the overall dining experience made it worthwhile. We look forward to revisiting and exploring more of their...

This two storeyed restaurant in Ghatkopar (400m from Rcity) comes with a whistle-stop instinct 'Oh wow, kya lag raha hai' as soon as you come across it. The aesthetic is pretty interesting as they have most of their walls covered with posters of Movies. Yes, movies of different era, genre, moods and the art in an extraordinary fashion of an instinct ' Yeh movie, aisa bhi potray hoh sakta hai kya? ' The second floor can be used as a banquet for parties, events, corporate/birthday party as well is used as the same restaurant on busy days.
The food here is simple yet extraordinary. It's Non-veg platter consists of malai, tandoori, pahadi and kalimiri tikka, along with a couple pieces of tandoori seekh, is a must have. Butter chicken and Kheema biryani are really luscious. Cheese Garlic naan tops my list with an instinct of ' Yeh toh definitely ek aur order karo' The place is well know for chilling over a drink, so a lot of people here sit for long hours. A lot of mouth watering chaknaas like Garlic chana, cheeslings , Cheese dipped in ice etc are with an instinct ' Yeh toh jannat hai'.
Happy hours are from 11.30 am to 7 pm provieds 15% off on the total bill, which is really a good option if you are looking for brunches.
The service offered here is pretty prompt yet sincere and to top it all, the staff always greets you...
