Udupi 2 Mumbai is a newly opened vegetarian restaurant conveniently located near Bhandup Station. With a craving for vegetarian cuisine during the festive season, we decided to pay it a visit, curious to see if it lived up to the buzz.
Ambiance and Service --
As expected on a festive day, the restaurant was packed to the brim, and we had to wait for about 30 minutes to secure a table. The ambiance was simple yet tasteful, with a clean and aesthetic setup that exuded warmth and comfort. However, the service left much to be desired. The staff appeared overwhelmed by the crowd, resulting in slower-than-expected service.
Starters --
We began our meal with the Paneer Haddipa Tikka, which we anticipated to be a fiery and tangy delight. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite hit the mark. Instead of the robust flavors promised, we received a dish that was bland and underwhelming. The paneer was tender, but the masala was not properly cooked, leaving a raw, unappetizing taste that overshadowed the dish.
Main Course --
For the main course, we opted for the Veg Hyderabadi Biryani. This dish was a pleasant surprise. The portion size was generous, easily serving two people. The biryani itself was flavorful, with a perfect balance of spices and vegetables. Each bite was a harmonious blend of aromatic rice and well-cooked veggies, making it the highlight of our meal.
Overall Experience --
Despite the disappointing starter, our overall experience at Udupi 2 Mumbai was satisfactory. The restaurant offers a variety of vegetarian dishes at pocket-friendly prices, making it an excellent choice for those looking for budget-friendly dining options. While the service could use some improvement during peak hours, the flavorful main courses, especially the biryani, make it worth a visit. If you're in the Bhandup area and craving vegetarian fare, Udupi 2 Mumbai is definitely worth...
Read moreI recently visited this restaurant that offers a delightful blend of South Indian and Mumbai special delicacies, and overall, my experience was quite satisfying. The atmosphere of the place was welcoming and vibrant, making it a great spot to enjoy a meal, especially if you appreciate regional Indian flavors. The menu was an exciting mix, and I decided to try the Mysore masala dosa, which turned out to be a great choice. The dosa was well-prepared, crispy on the outside with the perfect amount of spiciness and a rich, flavorful filling. It was definitely tasty and satisfied my cravings for authentic South Indian cuisine. However, the experience wasn’t entirely without its drawbacks. The service was a bit slow, which seemed to be the case, particularly because I visited on a weekend evening when the place was quite crowded. While the food made up for the delay, it did affect the overall dining experience a little. It’s understandable that restaurants can become overwhelmed during peak hours, but faster service would certainly elevate the overall visit. Despite the wait, I left feeling content with the food, and the atmosphere was lively enough to make the delay more bearable. I’m hopeful that future visits will see improvements in service speed, but for now, I would still recommend this place for its delicious food and welcoming environment, especially if you’re craving South Indian or...
Read moreAs you enter your are welcomed by a fresh, clean vibe. Both the AC & Non-AC sections are neat and clean, but since it's the start I just hope they maintain it this way. The food is good and tasty, but some things in the menu are exorbitantly priced. The quantity of starter could be better. The white shirt guy who books table reservation on ground floor, didn't give tentative time of waiting, just kept on procrastinating every 20 minutes as "Time lagega....bola na time lagega" making us wait for 1 hour with this language, this isn't expected, as restaurant managers ideally give an estimate wait time. Service is quite slow. Managers are busy amongst themselves or uninterested. Food is good, but service needs to be attentive and well managed. Also had their Jain Dry Manchurian, and all we got was dry round balls of Manchurian without slight gravy, when we told the manager, he replied dry manchurian is thisway only, we replied that in all other restaurants it comes in slight gravy but not so dry, but he gave lame reasons. Seems they don't want to accept mistakes, unlike resturant like Achija, etc where the manager, waiter are super quick to give what you ask for. Also if their tables are empty they put the reserved plates on most and direct us to their desired seating. This shouldn't be the case especially if the restaurant is vacant. Anyway, improvisation is needed...
