Fine dine Maharastrian Food & thali experience in chembur with avg thali or food. Like 3.5/5 for taste overall, Thalis are little expensive for the place, taste, quantity & variety of it. Had ordered special chicken & prawn malvani thali with bombil fry, chicken pahadi kebab & modak. Starting with chicken thali it had 3 chicken gravies out of which two tasted very identical, 3rd was a waste a kharda chkn gravy which was very spicy, pungent and a little bitter. I like Spicy gravy but this was not tasting good plus too hot & spicy that probably one should avoid. Also egg curry, tamba rassa (which was again not as good) & chicken soup was given in thali. Soup was very basic bland 2.5/5, egg curry was okaish.

I was expecting it to be more tasty and having pandra rassa as well which is a must in thali. Maybe this is good for chembur as there no other place that I know of that serves Maharastrian fine dine, but I would keep this on my second lowest thali in terms of taste. Prawns thali had large rawa fry prawns, prawns & fish gravy, dry prawns, idk some sukla fish kind of this which was awful. Prawns gravy was good non spicy, but fish gravy too tangy and bitter. Sukka prawns was normal & rawa fry prawns was good. Also both thalis come with bhakri, indrani rice & solkadi. And no nothing is unlimited but resto tried to enforce a stupid policy of no sharing which is pure greed and stupidy. Why have such a policy when nothing is unlimited, you served a fixed quantity & have charged 500-600 for it then why care how many ppl eat it? It's not s buffet or unlimited thing.

Charging 130rs for sharing is ridiculous which I absolutely denied on paying. I have been to top thali brands like maharastra lunch home, mauli, etc they have a unlimited rassa option & still they have no restriction on thali sharing. And will even give atleast one extra rassa vati on sharing out of hospitality. Which I like. The bombil fry, pahadi kebab & modak were really nice like solid 4/5. But they use a lot of oil in chicken gravy and taste as mentioned in avg. But the experience here was good but they should improve on the above mentioned factors to make ppl visit again or it's just a one time experience.

I suggest going with al carte menu instead of thali, also few things were...

Savoring the Flavors of Authentic Maharashtrian Cuisine

Tucked away in Chembur, this hidden gem offers an unparalleled culinary experience, serving authentic Maharashtrian food under one roof. The menu boasts an impressive array of options, catering to both non-vegetarians and vegetarians alike.

Non-Vegetarian Delights

The Special Mutton Thali is a must-try, featuring an assortment of mouth-watering dishes:

Mutton Curry: Tender mutton pieces cooked in a rich, flavorful curry. Mutton Sukkha: A dry mutton dish, marinated in a blend of spices and cooked to perfection. Rassa: A spicy mutton broth, infused with aromatic spices and herbs.

Vegetarian Specialties

The Veg Thali is equally impressive, showcasing authentic Maharashtrian flavors:

Pithal Bhakari: A traditional Maharashtrian dish made with roasted gram flour, served with a side of bhakari (flatbread). Black Vatana Curry: A flavorful curry made with black peas, cooked in a rich, spicy gravy. Authentic Desserts: A sweet treat to conclude the meal, showcasing the region's traditional desserts.

Seafood Delights

For seafood enthusiasts, the restaurant offers:

Fish Fry: Crispy fried fish, cooked to perfection and served with a side of tangy chutney. Paplet Fry: A delicate pomfret fish, fried to a golden crisp and served with a side of flavorful spices.

Unique Dish: Keema Mirchi

A standout dish on the menu is the Keema Mirchi, a innovative creation featuring:

Stuffed Mirchi: Green chilies stuffed with a flavorful keema (minced meat) mixture. Crunchy Exterior: The mirchi is coated with a crunchy exterior, adding texture to the dish. Non-Spicy: Despite the presence of chilies, the dish is surprisingly non-spicy, making it accessible to a wide range of palates.

In short

This restaurant is a must-visit destination for anyone craving authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. With its diverse menu, reasonable prices, and exceptional taste, it's a culinary gem that shines bright in Chembur. Whether you're a non-vegetarian or vegetarian, this restaurant has something to offer everyone. So, make sure to stop by and indulge in a truly unforgettable...

I recently dropped by Varasaa Restaurant in Chembur, and I was pleasantly surprised by its vibrant mix of authentic Maharashtrian and coastal flavors. Nestled near Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Chowk, the restaurant’s urban-industrial décor—characterized by exposed brick walls and earthy wood finishes—creates a cozy yet stylish backdrop for an enjoyable meal .

From the moment I walked in, I noticed the spacious layout and well-lit interior, making it great for both casual lunches and family dinners. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between lively and relaxed—perfect for enjoying hearty regional dishes without feeling rushed.

I indulged in the mutton thali, which absolutely exceeded my expectations. Succulent pieces of meat, perfectly spiced and tender, balanced traditional cooking with generous portions—and had me hooked from the first bite . I also sampled the bangada thali, which came highly recommended by other patrons—and rightly so: the fish was fresh, cooked in authentic Malvani-style spices that were explosive but not overwhelming .

While most of my experience was excellent, I did notice that options beyond the thalis—like extra bhakari or chapatis—required a separate order, which I found a bit inconvenient compared to some competitors . That said, the food quality and ambiance made it a small issue.

Service was attentive and quick—the staff was friendly and knowledgeable, guiding me through the menu and ensuring my water glass was never empty. The billing process even included a scratch card offer for returning diners, adding a fun twist to the experience .

Overall, I’d rate my visit to Varasaa Restaurant a solid 4 out of 5. Between the comforting homestyle Maharashtrian thalis, the lively yet cozy ambiance, and the courteous service, it’s a spot I’d happily revisit and recommend—especially if you’re craving refined coastal and regional...
