Vienna Bakery — Restaurant in Mumbai

There are places that make efforts to generate a lot of buzz. And then there are places that stay in the background for years serving great food and are content with word of mouth publicity. Vienna Bakery falls in the latter category. This place has been around for so many years and yet it remains non-descriptive, almost like a hidden gem, which only few know about. It can be difficult finding the bakery as it is nestled in old east Indian style houses between the by lanes and vakola village This is your typical old school, neighborhood bakery where the focus is not ambiance or fancy looking cakes but just the great quality of bakes it churns out. The hottest selling and most recommended product on their menu is the plum cake, which also happens to be my favorite. It is available in both with egg and eggless variants. They also do various kinds of cookies, puffs and cream-rolls; in fact one is spoilt for choice here. A good tip would be to get there early during the day as most products get sold out by evening. Have heard so much of this place and I’ve tried their food before but that was years ago. Seems like the quality has deteriorated. We went here to grab some breakfast items. We got chicken cutlets, chicken strudel, mutton patties, and choco chip brownies. The mutton patties had no trace of mutton whatsoever. The chicken cutlets were tad bit too dry with a thick outer layer. I did quite enjoy it though because it was spicy. I liked the Chicken strudel, it was spicy and there were shredded chicken inside. I especially liked the choco chip brownies, but at a bakery, you can’t really go wrong with brownies. The ladies serving were not polite nor friendly, they seemed like they were bothered by customers, no smile, it felt a little hostile ordering food. Very bad service after finalising the cake and price this person is telling me we don’t have cake pls look for other cake. So we have selected another cake That also, he have sent me on WhatsApp and now he is tell finished price and day time also, again he had call us we don’t have the same cake pls call day after tomorrow.
