We went there with high hopes as we were expecting good food with great view as it has a lake view seating.
One and only best thing about the place is there balcony seating area bcoz we get the best view of lake while sitting there rest everything was bad to worse.
Firstly they allow smoking in the balcony bcoz its a outdoor seating so for a nonsmoker like me it was a very big turn off, outdoor or not its still a public space and i think smoking should not be allowed on the property. Like how stupid is this that i have to inhale the smoke just so i can see the lake view or else i should sit inside. Management should look into this.
Then initially service was slow as they took more than 10 mins to take the order and when i mentioned it to waiter and after that service was quick so that was a good thing.
Coming to food it was ok not upto the mark or as mentioned in the reviews. We ordered 1 sizzler 1 Lasagna 1 mocktail and 1 shake(all veg food items)
Sizzler was not authentic as it should be but was ok in taste and as it was paneer sizzler I think it was analog paneer as i found its taste and texture was off
Lasagna was better of all nothing spl to mention about it as it was not too good not too bad
Orange fizz mocktail was also good
In shake i wanted a normal chocolate shake which apparently they dont make, they have option of chocolate Oreo and brownie shakes but they cant make normal chocolate shake soo with bit of disappointment i went with chocolate brownie shake and it was bad didnt like it at all hardly have 2-3 sips of it
Rest ambiance of place good
Plus one biggest negative in my case was unluckily when i was seated there in the balcony garbage truck was standing there in front the cafe for collection for around 20-25 mins which resulted in inhaling cigarettes smoke from one side and foul smell from other, second one was not their fault but it totally ruined...
Read moreI recently dined at Cafe Lakeside, a picturesque cafe nestled on Mall Road in Nainital, and here’s my detailed review of the experience.
Boasting a prime lakeside location, the cafe offers breathtaking views of the lake, making it an ideal spot to unwind while savoring a meal.
However, parking on Mall Road can be a challenge due to the heavy bustle, and traffic police are vigilant about issuing fines, so ensure you secure a proper parking spot to avoid a chalan. After parking, a short stroll leads you to Cafe Lakeside, also referred to as Lake View Restaurant, where the vibrant ambiance greets you immediately.
The cafe is often crowded, especially during peak hours, which adds to its lively charm but also means you’ll likely face a wait for a table. The service, unfortunately, is quite slow, particularly when the place is packed, so patience is key. The menu is impressively diverse, offering a wide range of options from local delicacies to global cuisines. We ordered the Thai chicken curry and vegetarian pasta, both of which were reasonably priced and flavorful, though not exceptional.
🥮The true highlight, however, is the dessert selection—absolutely stellar! We indulged in multiple desserts, each one impeccably crafted and a standout in its own right, making them the crown jewel of Cafe Lakeside. The music playing in the background is lovely, enhancing the overall experience and complementing the scenic views. Despite the slow service and wait times during busy periods, the combination of delectable desserts, enchanting music, and that mesmerizing lake view makes Cafe Lakeside a must-visit on Mall Road. Just plan for parking and peak-hour delays to fully enjoy this...
Read moreThis place is just opposite the famous Nainital lake on the bustling Mall Road. They serve delicious food and coffee. Avoid going in peak hours as the lake view seats are packed so you won't be able to enjoy the scenery. I went during Lunch and waited for almost 20 minutes to get the lake view seat. Attaching a video for you to actually get an idea of the exact location of this cafe. They have a hotel also I guess but we stayed in Mallital area of Nainital. You can rent a bicycle from near by roadside vendors for wandering on Mall Road.
If you are going with friends, don't forget to take some time for boating, ropeways and other recreational activities in Nainital. You can also roam around Nainital like Bhimtal, Khurpatal, Tiffin Top, etc which are in close vicinity. Try renting a 2 wheeler if you are young. Weather often gets changed in few minutes, so keep your woollens handy while going. Also keep an umbrella or a raincoat with you to avoid getting drenched.
You can also get an erickshqw or hand rickshaw on the mall road. Avoid travelling in a cab on mall road as you need to pay toll charges on mall road. Don't forget to take some time for Naina devi temple and tibetan market near Capitol Theater for some delicious food. Try tasting local food and avoid things like pani ke batashe (as we call here in Lucknow or Paani puri/golgappe in other geographies of India) as it way too expensive in such touristy places. Hope this saves some money of yours and makes your trip pleasurable and memorable. Take care
