Absolutely beautiful restaurant located on the first floor of The Claridges Hotel.
Amidst a grand crystal chandelier, Thai food is served in perfect authentic fashion . We were 7 of us,dining on a Sunday evening and were met with kind and wonderful service.
Each table is given complimentary Thai peanuts, which are a fantastic touch. For drinks we ordered thai beer, Prosecco and a French pinot grigo. All were excellent and complimented the food well.
For starters in vegetarian we got 1.char Muang( water chestnut dumplings), they were not very exciting and lacked flavour immensely.
Tao hoo(sweet chilli tofu), this was very good, the silken tofu was succulent and immersed in sweet chilli flavour.
For non vegetarian appetiser’s:-
Hoy Phao(butter garlic scallops), these were exceptional , succulent and delicious
Med Mamuang Gai( chicken cashew nut): this was on the sweeter side but definitely worth trying , slightly crispy and flavourful
3.wok tossed pork:- this was the absolute highlight? Most definitely recommend. It was crispy and juicy and bursting with umami flavour.
For soup we got the 1.Tom Kha, it was mind and flavourful and leading with lemongrass , great warm start to the meal.
We also got the Thai Raw Papaya salad , it was spicy and crisp and gad a vase of sweet chilli, very refreshing.
Then coming to mains, for vegetarian, 1.tao hoo hoong (bean curd): this was very light and brothy, accompanied with vegetables is went well with the jasmine rice .
Non vegetarian:- Red curry gai : this was a hit, chicken pieces with mushroom zucchini in a spiced coconut broth, perfectly paired with simple steamed rice.
2.Sea Bass Manow:- this lime ginger fish was served whole on a grand dish shaped heated plate with candles under to keep it warm. Very well prepared, however does have a lingering pungent smell .
3.sliced chicken ginger: very very well made. Thinly sliced succulent chicken in a tangy ginger based sauce, paired well with wheat noodles and jasmine rice, would recommend.
Lastly we got the special, Nammya Poo- Crab Meat Curry Steamed Rice Noodles.
This was the best dish we ordered , delicious coconut curry with soft pieces of crab complimented by the rice noodles, served with some raw papaya salad, most definitely recommend,
For dessert we got a chocolate truffle cake as we were celebrating a birthday, from the in-house hotel bakery itself,
We also got few desserts, 1.tub Tim grin:- water chestnut jelly with ice balls, tasted a lot like rise milk with gelato. Mildly sweet and delicious.
2.i Tim kalamare:/ seaseme icecream with crushed peanut and banana. :- the icecream was delicious ne was served with some sort of rice( much like poha), however not worth it.
Lastly we got tua tad:- a chocolate lava cake, served with orange sorbet. Good but not a highlight.
Overall it’s quite overpriced for the quantity but the quality is good. Few downsides:-
Though service is very kind , it is very very slow, the food took over 45 minutes to come, we were already finished with our first round of drinks by then.
The cloak rooms are not disable friendly, not bar to hold and neither was there any...
Read moreWe had a great meal, however the service & attitude made the experience horrible for us. First of all, we made a reservation on call for 6 of us, not even once on call did they mention to us that kids under a certain age are not allowed. Even on zomato it is categorised as “family friendly” restaurant, which it clearly is not. My 10 month daughter was not allowed to enter the restaurant. After bringing it up with the management that we weren’t provided with any of this information, they still were not cooperative & only allowed her to sit outside the restaurant with her caretaker. Once we were done with lunch ( the food was actually very good & authentic) and asked for the bill, we asked them to remove the service charge, Vivek our server created an issue. We are FHRAI members as well- when I presented my husband’s card, which I use at every hotel, they said they cannot use it without his presence. We requested him to honour this still, so he gave us a 10% discount instead. After receiving average service, we just requested them to remove the service charge ( even after telling him that we will still be tipping separately) he said well ma’am if that’s the case you either get the 10% discount or you have to pay service charge. We also belong to the hospitality industry, thus understand the importance of service charge. What was not okay was Vivek taking up a rude tone & applying conditions to the 10% discount he was offering. we have never encountered something like this. How can somebody be like well you have to pay the service charge if you want the 10% discount? How have the hospitality standards reduced. Was truly disappointed with this behaviour. We had a lovely lunch, which was unfortunately undone...
Read moreOutstanding! I purposely don't leave reviews because I don't want google tracking me. But this had to be shared (although I am using a secondary account).
I came between service (bad timing on my part). But the hosts were so gracious they said it wasn't a problem and insisted it was okay to dine then. Sheepishly I agreed.
They knew the menu backwards and helped with my selection.
25 years ago I had one of the most best meals in my life in Los Gatos/Saratoga, in the Bay Area. Ever since I've been hunting for that same taste. I finally found it. One of the best meals of my life. Outstanding. The Tom Yum soup, Kee Mao M, steamed rice were exceptional.
The service was spectacular. Flawless. Even better then the food, if that's possible.
So good, I came back for dinner. Even though it is expensive. Well, well with it, especially if you're visiting Delhi.
Selected another 'saucy' main dish, Phad Khink M,. Was afraid it would be the same flavour. Completely different and also excellent. They comped the rice! The desert, water chestnut, was delicate and divine! So well balanced. Yum. I can taste it now!
Do yourself a favour and experience this restaurant. It's an experience. No hesitation in recommending it.
I only had vegetarian selections.
2 nights before I had gone to one of the big name, world famous, multi course, chefs tasting menu, restaurant. No comparison, at all. I'll...
