Given all the positive reviews, we had always wanted to try the high tea at Pickwicks, so my daughter chose it as a special treat for Father’s Day. Went there with my elderly mother and daughter and I appreciated how they offered a wheel chair as soon as we got off the car. My mum was able to walk to the restaurant, but it was a thoughtful gesture nonetheless. We ordered two high teas to share amongst the three of us. We began with some lemon cake and cookies while we waited for the main treat. They were tasty and fresh. Then we received the three tiers of sandwiches, pastries and scones. The sandwiches were delicate and flavorful: cucumber, chicken and egg. The only disappointment was the salmon wrap, which had a chewy texture that stuck to our teeth. The caramelised onion and goat cheese tart was a delight, though.  The pastries (lemon tart, eclair, hazelnut pastry) were all well-made and satisfying. The scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam were supposed to be the highlight of the high tea, but they fell short of our expectations. The scones had a bitter aftertaste, the clotted cream lacked the richness and consistency of the authentic one, and the strawberry jam was too bland. Overall, I would give it a 3 out of 5 rating.

I thought of trying a new restaurant and with great excitement I thought of coming to Pickwick at the Claridges- having heard good reviews about the food at the Claridges despite a terrible experience at Jade and a mediocre one at Eraawan, I took another risk by coming to Pickwick. The warmth of the staff was the only saving grace, the older waiters are hospitable and have a kind, warm demeanour but very tragically, the food is disappointing. Even the most basic, classic dishes fall flat- such as the fish and chips and the grilled fish(which in fact was was dry and inedible). The makhni dal was ok but the naan served with it was sub-par. Unfortunately I will not return to the Claridges restaurants unless serious amends are made. Truly very disappointed and teary eyed to write this review about the establishment.

Pickwick happens to be the coffee shop of Claridges. It serves you pizzas, pastas, variety of soups, sizzlers and sandwiches. For vegetarians you can try the Green Sizzler, Minestrone Pesto soup or Quinoa or Avacadi Salad. And if you like pizzas you can have the Classic Margherita. Pickwick became more special for us with fantastic service quality by Puneet and Abhishek. They really made our day with excellent service quality, most helpful with helping us select a dish, helping us customize it.

We went as a group to 14 , it was surprising to find them cheating on the VEEN bottled mineral water , as we ordered still water and the cap was found of sparkling , which is impossible, we found this as the water tasted of tap water, on enquiring they accepted it as mistake but didn’t give in written. It means someone is filling the bottle in the kitchen with tap water, we verified the bottle number from manufacturer and they confirmed that it was sent ok from their end .

So please se be aware of the scam of bottled mineral water and have the seal opened in...
