A friend of mine took me along to this much (highly) reviewed cafe, saying that it served healthy vegan food. I normally do end up finding something good about most places, and I guess my 1 star reflects that faint level of "good" I experienced. In order to leave subjectivity out of the review, I would like to leave a detailed account of what I experienced. Arrival- pleasant locality and a very lively vibe. The staff was gracious and polite. We asked for a table for 2 and the one they sat us on was a table where half the surface was bent /cracked/broken and dangling. We were served water (infused with cucumber) which was probably the only nice part of the experience. The cafe is shared by a design label which makes for an interesting distraction while waiting for the food. The Beverages- Ginger Ale and Hibiscus soda. Flat and absolutely unsodalike. The starters- Jackfruit Carnita & Havana green banana. The Jackfruit is a mush served in pita triangles, where the dressing takes away from any texture or flavour. The green banana makes u cringe and the much lauded mango habanero sauce, remind you of aam rs with Kala namak The mains- Austin smoked Jackfruit wrap & Hemp Burger (Yes! I know. We were stupid and placed a huge order without even trying the food). The Jackfruit was supposed to be pulled but ended up being a chargrilled mush. The burger was everything that a burger is not supposed to be. Yet again the patty was a cold mush with some random seasoning thrown into the layers. The discussion with the Boss/Partner- basically the only reply that the owner had was that they were focussed on serving healthy food, and therefore they can't cook the dishes as they are typically meant to be. The complaints were listened to, graciously with a constant smile and (apparently) offers of spicing up the food with the earlier mentioned "Mango Habanero" sauce and some Hummus ( he insisted that it's a signature dish) The bill- our waiting staff was rather upset when he saw that we were returning our plates with 75% of our food uneaten(photo posted) and offered to do something about the bill ( which every professional restaurant would do). 5 minutes later a different waiter appears with a full bill for what we had ordered. On leaving the restaurant, I asked our original waiter, why he had send someone else with the bill, he sheepishly responded that he got busy. In a nutshell, go there if you want to hang around and maybe sip on a coffee or the water. If you are looking to discover good (vegan) food. Please...
Read moreService was so slow. I had to keep asking them to bring water. It didn't come and check if we needed water. I also placed an order for my appetizers then I went upstairs to use the bathroom thinking the appetizers would reach when I came back down. I then placed the order for my main course. Then he asked me if I still wanted to order the appetizers. Food was way too sweet. Nachos were sweet, dips for the fries were sweet, pizza had something sweet in it, they need to lay off the sweetness. The tofu bujia was my favorite and the mint sauce was delicious. The mocha brownie was excellent and the hazelnut ice cream was good though they should chop the hazelnuts. The chocolate chip cookie was good. The hazelnut cake was so hard to cut and swallow. Don't recommend that. I don't think we'll come back here. But I do hope they improve their service. If it's too hard to fill up every once water individually, then leave the water on the table so we can refill it ourselves. Also leave extra napkins there. I will say that staff was friendly it was...
Read moreMy friend and I had planned a lovely study session at Greenr Café ( Vasant Vihar),complete with coffee and snacks. It was our first time studying together in a café, and we were enjoying the whole vibe. However, our experience was abruptly cut short when the owner asked us to leave, claiming people were waiting for a table. Strangely, we didn’t see anyone waiting.
I've visited many cafés with my laptop and books, and I've never been asked to leave for studying and not ordering food. I politely mentioned that we would be leaving shortly, but the owner insisted we leave immediately. We didn’t make a scene, but the experience left a lasting impression.
If Greenr Café doesn’t want people studying or working, they should clearly display a sign stating that it’s not a workspace. It would save customers the frustration and confusion. My friend and I had planned to make this our regular weekend spot, but after this, we definitely won’t be returning. Thank you for the worst hospitality service ever.
Don’t recommend it for the food and for...
