Gokulam — Restaurant in Puducherry

A decent pure veg restaurant that's located inside Anandha Inn. The options are either A-La-Carte or thali meals. Went in as a family of four on a Friday afternoon at around 12.30pm. The AC was quite peppy and offered a welcome respite from the heat outside. It also helped that we were the only patrons there at that time. Ordered for 2 South Indian thalis, some lemon juice and a few North Indian dishes from the menu. The South Indian thalis and the lemon juice were served within 10min. The South Indian fare though not extensive, was delectable. The lemon juice was passable but the glasses in which they were served has some smear marks that prompted us to ask for a change. The North Indian fare too arrived within 20min of ordering. The restaurant threw in a complimentary round of South Indian vadaams (fryums) which was a nice touch. The dishes were well made though it would have helped if the Paneer Lababdar had more Paneer and less of other veggies. Poor Food and Terrible Service – Not Worth the Hype

I had high expectations for Hotel Gokulam, but unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfying. The food was the biggest disappointment – completely lacking in flavor, with some dishes tasting stale or overcooked. Even basic items like rice and dal were poorly prepared. For a place that charges premium prices, the food quality was unacceptable.

To make things worse, the service was equally bad. Staff were unresponsive, slow, and at times even rude. Requests had to be repeated multiple times before anyone acted, and there was no sense of hospitality or urgency. It felt like we were an inconvenience rather than paying guests.

They will give you another dishes which you haven't order which is over priced also.

And don't use any dineout like Swiggy or Zomato they will add extra service charges on it.

Overall, Hotel Gokulam did not live up to even the most basic standards of service and food. Definitely not a place I’d recommend...

Disappointing Service Ruined the Meal**

I visited this restaurant hoping for a pleasant dining experience, but unfortunately, the service was incredibly poor and left a bad impression.

From the moment we walked in, the staff seemed disinterested and unwelcoming. We had to wait far too long just to get menus, and even longer for someone to take our order — despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. It felt like we were being completely ignored.

When our food finally arrived, it was lukewarm, and one of the orders was incorrect. We tried to flag down a server to fix it, but no one seemed to care. There was no apology, no urgency, and no basic courtesy throughout the entire visit.

To top it off, getting the bill took forever, and we were met with attitude when we pointed out a mistake in the charges.

Overall, the unprofessional and inattentive service completely ruined what could have been a decent meal. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone who values good...
