Maison Perumal Hotel & Restaurant – CGH Earth — Hotel in Puducherry

Room: 130 sqft. Bath: 30 sqft. After staying in Visalam, this place looks like a run down place with poor amenities, apathetic staff and no parking. They should advertise that this is a micro hotel. Parking is around 500m from hotel in a shady dark place without any CCTV, but has a security all time though. No valet also. Every-time you need to either request them for an auto or they will take you on a 2-wheeler to the park place.

The staff are very indifferent, they didn’t even help us with the luggage. There is an adage that goes “A smile goes a long way”. No one appears warm. At least the manager Sam John spoke to us a bit and offered to get some fruits or juice while we checked out. Jaison in the reception was totally inhospitable.

Their bigger which was ₹2000 extra had a bit bigger room may be 50-60 sqft extra but half the bathroom size. The shower in our room was not functioning and the engineer was on it for 15 mins and there was literally no water pressure in it. The room curtains would not even close completely and the light will be bleeding in the room all night. No plug points you can use. You need to unplug some lights and may be use the socket. The elevator is so small that it will fit max 1 person and a luggage. It all looks like a joke.

Even atrocious, we set the AC at 18 when we checked in. Mr Jaison took the remote, set at 22 and lowest fan speed, told us not to change the mode, wait for 30 mins and then it will cool.

Will never return....

Amongst the hundreds of mustard and salmon hued buildings in the coastal French settlement in Tamil Nadu is this place - Maison Perumal a remarkable Chettinadu mansion turned into a boutique hotel. It was like walking right into the middle of a movie scene early in the morning where we saw women drawing kolas, the smell of fresh coffee brewing from the nearby houses, the sound of the temple bells and the sparrows chirping in the porticos when we entered Perumal Koil st,.. This is one sweet memory I would cherish for a very long time. This 130 year old Chettiar building is nestled in this quite alley with the fine backdrop... The moment you walk into Maison Perumal it will take you back a hundred years where you witness the aura of pre and post colonial architecture with a tinge of Tamil Nadu's heritage and Culture beautifully preserved. There are many hotels and stays in Pondicherry which can offer luxury but Maison Perumal under the CGH brand have created a niche in the market and offer you an exquisite experience. From the spacious rooms to the very palatable food this place is everything you want to experience when you visit this town.

Its a 150 year old heritage property located in the heritage quarters. The management is great and the property is kept in a pristine condition. Its an ecofriendly hotel and they are using resuable, eco-friendly products keeping nature in mind. The food is amazing especially the south indian dishes. We enjoyed having candle lit dinner under the sky. They have a variety of in-house complimentary activities like rangoli making , cooking demos y to keep you entertained. We took the fantastic cycle rickshaw tour that they offered at a very reasonable price of Rs 1000, which lasted for almost 2hrs and the ride covered almost all the important points in Pondicherry. The room was well maintained and if we had any problems they were addressed and resolved promptly. The four poster bed in the room was very comfortable. Staff is very warm and they ensuree that you got everything you would ever need. We received a warm welcome with a garland of jasmine flowers and an arti thali, they offered us a soothing welcome drink, they will see u outside the property everytime you leave….I felt such hospitality is rare and one should definitely stay with them to have that experience personally. We forgot our caps in one of the cars we hired through them and they not only found the caps but also delivered them at my address. I have fallen in love with this place and I recommend...
