Surguru Veg Restaurant ஸற்குரு உணவகம் — Restaurant in Puducherry

We had a pit stop at this Hotel when we were on our way to a temple.

One of the best experiences I (We) have ever had for quite some time.

For Breakfast, we had Sambar Idli, Sambar Vada, Nei (Ghee) Roast, Poori and Tea / Coffee.

Sambar Idli was superb in taste. Sambar Vada was also very good. The Sambar they served - onion Sambar, was the pick of the items. Nei (Ghee) Roast was very tasty as well. With Sambar it was delicious. Surprisingly, Poori was less oily - as though it was not even cooked in oil. Taste was good along with Masal. Tea / Coffee was kind of ok ok. Compared to all the other dishes, tea / coffee were relatively not great.

Overall a great Breakfast experience.

Hence we decided to drop in for dinner also.

We ordered Tomato Soup, Gobi Manchurian Dry, Vegetable Fried rice, Kothu Parotta, Adai Aviyal along with Sambar Idli (wanted to relish that sambar again)

Tomato Soup was pretty decent. Along with Manchurian it was a great combo. Parotta and Fried rice were awesome in taste. Adai was very soft and Aviyal was very tasty. Panam Kalkandu Pal was a little disappointing when compared to others.

The service was too good. Morning few Akkss (Sisters) were serving and their courtesy and responsiveness was definitely to be appreciated. Evening Mr Ramdoss was serving us and he also delighted us.

Overall a great experience.

Never ever thought i would bump into such a place where South Indian as well as North Indian dishes are tasty.

The restaurant was pretty decent in atmosphere and the toilets were super clean - Very surprising to see in these...

This place seems to be a popular one as I saw a celebrity (Shanmugarajan) walk in as I walked out. Those who don't know who Shanmugarajan is search for Virumandi cast in Google. The place was very crowded and people kept coming on and on as it was lunch time. The interesting part is everyone came in car. I literally did not see ppl dropping in by two wheelers.

With all that said and done. This place is situated on the main road and finding this hotel should not be a hassle. It has a huge parking space which aptly suits the type of crowd that comes in. But I was not given parking space inside the premises 😛😛.

The restaurant is on the side of the hotel and it has two sections. Both are air conditioned not sure what is difference. Since it was a lunch time they had a waiting time. There was a person coordinating the guests which was good. The waiting chairs were less though, some had to stand while waiting.

After all the waiting we were given seating in the open section and were waiting again for someone to take the order. Understandably considering the crowd after about 5 minutes we were able to place the order (4 Meals).

Taste wise it was ok and on par with a normal hotel. Comparing the cost (171 + GST / meal) it was below average. The meals though was unlimited I believe but since they served the rice in a bowl I mistook it to be limited one and did not ask for extra rice.

We choose Surguru Restaurant cos.. Quality of food Consistency of Taste Ambience Elite veg restaurant. Excellent service

I am forced to give only 2 🌟 cos Only 1&2 persist now.

Recently this happens may be for the past 3 months. The service personnel are very irresponsible, provide a service which irritates all the customers for sure. Very very slow. All gentlemen and women will know there will be atleast 15 to 20 min delay for preparing the dish but it takes more waiting time even for a plate of idly.

Delay irritates and spoil the mood in hunger and also people start shouting around as the tables are empty which indirectly spoils the ambiance totally.

I saw a couple with a 2 year kid asking for a plate of idly and literally begging the service personnel to get it first as the kid is irritable in hunger. Pitty thing is as usual no response or courtesy shown.

Pathetic to see the present state of the restaurant which i have seen from childhood days...

Only taste and consistency cannot go long....

Management should immediately look into this issue as we the regular customers refer customers to you.
