Sorry, I would not even wish to give a single star, but as I’m obligated to post this mornings pathetic experience at this small cafe I got to give a star. And I would consider this one star for the Tea which was ok honestly. I’m a tea lover. I’m a South Indian who’s from Udupi and have the tastebuds right from Udupi Cuisine to authentic Karnataka’s taste. Honestly did not find the taste anyway near to South. Sambar was ‘khatta’ sour, Chutney was blunt, no taste at all. Daal vada was crispy but salty. Had ordered Ghee Onion Masala Dosa where Masala was salty again, no sign of ghee smell, texture of the dosa too not upto the mark. I was silently sitting and eating my breakfast until one guy in a Bermuda came and snatched away the tissue paper box without even having a courtesy to letting me know. Just because the other table folks asked for it and he himself looked like concluding that I should not be using a tissue paper. Later he did not even bother to arrange one to my table. Story doesn’t stop here, there were other customers in one table who were many in number and required an additional table. This Bermuda guy again pitches in and telling them yes we’ll combine another table for you showing at my table. That means a single lady who was sitting and eating just like others had no value as a customer. Why I realised this because he then hurried to serve the stuff to me and asked me to pay at the counter whereas all other tables were served with the bill at their table. Inspite of all these when I went to the counter and asked for the bill none of his waiters knew what and why did I head there by myself. Heights of insult. Why are these small restaurant owners/managers are so ruthless and selectively good to their customer? Are we who go single are beggars who eat without paying them? Would highly recommend not to visit this place, taste as well as owners behaviour is pathetic to the core. I only sincerely vote for the Tea and the service given by the waiters who were more polite and customer centric...
Read moreI visited the café. And ordered a dosa, French fries and a water bottle which MRP has 10 rupees. But when I looked the bill they charged 15 rupees for the bottle. When I asked why they just behave inappropriately and say it is included service. I asked what service they ask for I have not asking a glass neither ice just bottle. They argued with me again and throw the 5 rs coin on my face. The person who stands there extremely manner less he said to me my time is valuable. I asked do you think I am jobless. Then he showed me some Zomato menu which is included the tax. He is not only harass me but also abuse me on my financial status which is completely intolerable. Even he said you are jobless and too poor to come in the café. That is how they give the service and abuse the women customer. I asked what service you included for charging the bottle I have not even ask a glass also. And the GST is included then why doubles taxation. They just don’t reply and became furious by throwing the coin and abusing me. I asked this is the safety and rights of consumer? So harsh to see all those behavior of those business person who just treated customer uneducated and poor. They repeat abusing on my financial conditions and argued that I am too pore to come at...
Read moreMadras Cafe, though ambiance is not spacious, the restaurant make itself awesome by serving the authenticate menus and taste of South Indian food. Every menu is served on banana leaf which makes us feel different and may be I can say the placebo effect makes us feel the food more genuine. When I went there with my friend, it was morning and the place was almost full. We first ordered Combo which consist of one idli, one medu wada and one cup pongal. And the service was fast. We were not made to wait for long. Pongal is something which I ate first time and was not spicy. Then we ordered Mysore masala dosa along with ButterMilk. Everything tasted as usual normal south Indian food. Sambar was thick, but taste was not impressive. There were many ingredients in Sambar compare to usual Sambar we eat in other south Indian restaurant. Mysore masala dosa tasted same as it tastes in other restaurants, infact idli and wada too. At last we ordered filter coffee which was served in traditional style. We loved it. If I am to compare this with Nagbrahma restaurant of Swargate I ll go for Nagbrahma too rate more. The menus over there are tasty compare to Banana Leaf plus its cheap. Banana leaf menus are overpriced. I ll give for Service - 4 Taste -...
