Location : 4/5 located in baner in a 3 floor building, Maratha samrat is located on 1st floor however since the ground floor is just for parking (but not for maratha samrat)!
As you may know, gov has dedicated specific road sides to park on specific dates (odd/even). So you will have to check the date, check the side, find an empty spot (maybe a little far) and then park your vehicle otherwise by the time you are done having your food your vehicle would get picked up by the police.
Also , its not handicap friendly, not pet friendly too (however considering the place’s speciality is non-vegetarian food bringing pets here would definitely cause chaos..!! :D )
Atmosphere: 5/5 The ambience is good. Lighting is sufficient. They have multiple tables with good chairs. However as the place is not that big if you go over weekend YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT FOR 30 -45 minutes! They also have kept some books to read to keep you busy till the time your food comes!
Service : 4/5 There were many waiters and a dedicated manager however it was a little difficult to get their attention. But once you have their attention, they will provide you with all the details, recommend good options. So Requst to management is to ensure that you have a dedicated resource for a table so that the customer can have the attention.
Food / Beverages : 5/5 The food menu has various options you can order as per your preference, such as chicken thalis, mutton thalis, fish thali and veg thali! Apart from thali, you can also order separate food iteams where we tried mutton chaap and it was delicious!!! Simple beverages options available such as solkadhi, taak(chaas, buttermilk) , lemon water, etc Individual dish portion is sufficient for 3-4 people and 1 thali is more than enough for 1 person meal!
Value for money : 5/5 considering the portion of the food, the taste, the serving I would definitely not mind paying for the food!
Considering overall I would recommend all the non-veg lovers to have food at...

If you’re a fan of rich, flavorful, and authentic Marathi cuisine, Maratha Samrat in Baner, Pune, is a must-visit. This restaurant truly brings the essence of traditional Maharashtrian food to the table, serving hot, spicy, and irresistibly delicious dishes that will leave you craving more.
The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly their mutton dishes. The red mutton curry was fiery, packed with deep, aromatic spices, and cooked to perfection. The mutton sukha was another standout, with its bold flavors and melt-in-the-mouth texture. The mutton thali is an absolute treat for meat lovers, offering a well-balanced and satisfying meal.
Seafood lovers won’t be disappointed either. The Authentic Fish Thali was fantastic, featuring fresh, well-marinated fish cooked with traditional spices. A special mention to the dry fish chutney (small prawns)—a delightful burst of umami flavors that added a unique touch to the meal.
The Jowar Roti (Joyar Ruti) – Vakri was another highlight. Soft yet sturdy, it complemented the mutton and fish dishes beautifully, making every bite an authentic experience.
To start off, I highly recommend their refreshing lime juice and kokum sarbat as appetizers. These drinks not only set the tone for the meal but also help balance out the spiciness of the dishes. Ending the meal with another round of these cooling beverages is the perfect way to wrap up the feast.
Overall, Maratha Samrat delivers on every front—authenticity, taste, and quality. If you love traditional Marathi food, this place is a paradise. I will definitely...
Read morePrice point of food did not make up for most of the important aspects.
Red Chicken thali priced at a whopping 600/- not exactly sure to compensate for what.
Chicken curry - bland Chicken kheema - extremely bland, probably felt like they forgot to add key spices and salt Dry chicken - same taste as Chicken curry No other items in the thali (like egg curry or etc.). Fine if no additional items, but then what is the reason of the higher price point.. Makes you wonder. Except pandhra rassa and chapati, everything else had such a basic taste you wonder whether the cook has lost interest in his job.
No ventilation where we sat. Table for two in a corner.
Many tables had poor/dim lighting.
Place got extremely noisy probably due to the closed hall where the tables are seated and no other outlets than the entrance of the hotel.
Seating for two was a small table cramped towards the wall. (This can be ignored as some of the other tables were fine)
Many of the infrastructural aspects can be let go, but the taste of food lacked everything that could fetch a pricing of whatever they have listed the rates at. But nothing compensates for it given all the infrastructural aspects as well.
Would happily prefer going to any other thali place in the future if I need atleast some taste and not only an air of...
