Read moreVisited her yesterday. They only had high rise tables inside so had to wait outside. Ordered murg lapeta kebab and masala papad along with hoegarden meanwhile. The papad did not feel fresh, the masala was only tomato. Side of onion was given which did not feel fresh and the onion not crispy either. Onion must be dipped in cold water to become crispy before being served as masala onion - this is extremely common knowledge. The beer glass had a small piece of Malta orange that was probably the smallest I've seen anywhere, they could've avoided it altogether, as small as lime.
Murg lapeta kebab was good though. It is basically Angara kebab with spices, the traditional lapeta kebab is very different and this is their own version.
For mains, we ordered butter chicken and murg lahori with butter naan and garlic naan. A table got empty inside so we are asked if we want to shift. Sitting outside here is a major problem due to the blazing high pitched music by their neighboring business.
The inside table was joined because a large group was seated previously and they separated it for us. There was tissues and roti and many things between the divided tables which no one seemed bothered about.
Food arrived. Butter chicken was very good and murg lahori was surprisingly delicious. The garlic naan pieces could've had more garlic. The repeat naan took time which is bit surprising.
The atmosphere outside is not something I would prefer because of the loud music by the neighboring business. The inside atmosphere is decent, the vibes are very ordinary.
The service feels weird here. When outside the servers wouldn't accept order. The person who was taking name and number was the same person taking outside orders.
This place can be much better if it wants to, it just doesn't try to uplift itself. Won't visit here in future but will considering...
Read moreLots of seating space, we got our table for two quickly on a friday evening. One captain and some stewards boys probably trainees. They were more interested in watching the pro kabaddi match than serving us. But one (probably) senior captain fortunately took over and gave us good service(for which they charge extra).
Coming to food... Murgh Yakhni Shorba - Tasted similar to Maharashtrian Chicken Rassa, but I'm not complaining at all. Loved it with the the hint of sourness and ample chicken pieces.
I usually eat Galouti Kebab when here, which is awesome BTW, but this time we decided to try something unusual for us.
So we ordered, Tawa Fish - We chose to order Pomfret instead of opting for Basa or Surmai. It was priced at approx. Rs.500+ and was recommended on Zomato by some reviewers. The dish had loads of tawa garlic pods served with two 3-4 inch long pomfret cuts, boneless. Very yummy, but less in quantity. Happy with taste, not much with value for money.
Butter chicken - Blockbuster dish! Sweet and sour and perfect for butter chicken(according to me). Very good quantity for price too. Ample pieces and gravy. We had plain roti with it, which too was good. Left us finger licking by the end.
One steward said they don't give finger bowls and gave us wet tissues to wipe off out fingers.
So that's about my 4 star experience at Nawab Asia Baner.
Oh their ACs were under maintenance and they had put big coolers and their fans were operating. No problems faced with that though, it was...
