Merwans Cake Stop — Restaurant in Pune

Forenote: This review is NOT about the products, but about the experience. We went to this cake shop to enquire about the price per piece for a bulk order of cup cakes. There were three attendants in the shop when we entered. None of them paid any heed. We checked/scanned their products on the shelf for about 2-3 minutes. Nobody bothered to ask even out of courtesy what we wanted. At last, we found what we wanted. We went in front of the cupcake tray. It was labelled ₹50 per piece. Incidentally one attendant was standing right next to it. We asked what would be the price for bulk order of 30+ cakes? The attendant 'ignored' our asks twice. I raised my voice a little and asked again about the price for bulk order. He ignorantly, kind of arrogantly answered "50. same". Just that much answer. 'Lena hai to lo, warma nikal lo, mujhe pareshaan na karo' kind of attitude. We left immediately though price was reasonable. For any business , customer has to be THE focus. They had least of focus. Despised it.

Their products might be good, but didn't feel like tasting them. So no...

BEWARE!!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS OUTLET!!! Extremely rude staff and senseless service. Recently picked up some baked goods form here and the vicinity of the shop is well maintained and clean however the quality of the food is only okay and acceptable but the pizza slice was soggy and the pastry more edible compared to it. The veg puff was good. But the service and behaviour of the staff is abhorrent at their handling of customers. They almost started a fight when we simply asked for ketchup and that a veg puff be split so we all could taste it before buying large quantity of it. The whole experience was stained from that one employee's attitude and no other employee even intervened to correct him. Seems like there's no training or etiquette learning that's required from the employees. The owner should get behind this issue as I've seen the same complaint from multiple people in the reviews. I had a terrible customer service experience at the Baner outlet Pune. I went to purchase a cake. Chose a cake. The gentleman at the counter messed up the cake with the cream writing. When I pointed it out, he took a small chocolate slab to write on it. Again he was messing up with the cream writing. There was a guy from the kitchen who kept asking him, is the name to be written. I pointed out again that he was messing up again, so he just threw the slab on the counter and was asking the kitchen guy to write on it. Disregarding customer sensitivity was one thing but “insulting” food by throwing it is unacceptable to me. I walked out without the purchase. I have been a fan of Merwans since my Mumbai days and even in Baner I have been several times. But this experience has left me with a bitter taste. Someone needs to educate that gentleman on...
