Bharat Bhavan : Balewadi 2.0
Ambiance: Subtle, classy and décor styled with Indian fabrics on plush sofas and artefacts everywhere. Ample indoor/ outdoor seating, car parking, hospitality top notch. A pre booking of table always looks good.
I tasted quite a few dishes from their menu, promising Punekar a luxurious fine dining experience.
A Menu inspired by cultural Heritage, diversity and culinary favourites from different parts of India.
Cocktails – #Mumbai_Masti & #Queen_of_Tripura. Such unique names, vodka pineapple cocktail Queen of Tripura – pineapples of this region is famous. Both cocktails were mind boggling .. slurp slurp delicious.
In-house mocktails were quite interesting. Most have mild flavours as they use only natural ingredients and come in a glass bottle.Paan Banaras is prepared with betal leaf & jaggery. So if you are expecting a sugar rush drink, no ways!
My favourite starter was #Namkeen_Rasmalai_chaat, tangy with tamarind chutney, mint chutney , yogurt generously layered over farsan, & flattened unsweetened chenna pattie with onions, chillies , fresh coriander. Mouthwatering delicious chaat 🤤 Do try this unique dish.
The #Basket_of_Papad has Banarasi aloo papad, Madras apalams, Ragi millet papads, khichiya from Gujarat served with garlic red chilli dip … I was like crunch- munch- munch- repeat ! There is something about papads and peanuts - we desi log cannot do without! haha ☺️🥂
#Beet_ki_Galouti was so beet root tender and a delight. #highlyrecommended #Kashmiri_Gobi & #Lauki ke Seekh- one cannot make out, you are eating gobi or lauki. Cauliflower coated with cashews were melt in mouth. Both surprisingly amazing.
For the Non vegetarian – #Galouti_kebabs, #Tandoori_Bataer Both mildly spicy, tender soft and flavourful. Both #highlyrecommended Do try bataer its yumm
Mains :- #Meen_Pollichathu : A delicacy from Kerala, boneless kingfish steamed with spices in a banana leaf. It is tedious and traditional dish usually served on special occasions. One can say an Indian fish steak that keeps the flavours intact in the cooking process. Perfect!
Out of curiosity, I selected Zaffrani Naan Baquarkhani Not the apt combination with the aesthetic #Rajasthani_Junglee_Maas (mutton). I wanted to taste these unique roti preps! Both naan were sweetish. Baquarkhani had a generous amount of almond slivers while saffron overruled the flavours in zaffrani naan. Nice in their one way.
A koba or a plain tandoori would have been a better option with a mutton dish.
The Rajasthan junglee maas was good but I have tasted better.
Dessert : Ice cream- Chandan Badam & Melon Seed Thandai ice cream. Using only natural ingredients. Such amazing flavours, bit icy loved it #Zauk _E_Shahi – Two Kala Jamun resting over a bed of Rabdi. Taste is Outstanding!
Overall the hospitality of staff, ambiance, uniqueness of dishes from starters to desserts, best of Indian cuisine all under one roof stole my heart.
Its new and definitely one must visit. Corporate lunches, celebrations with friends/ family, firangi relatives and perfect for date...
Read moreBharat Bhavan celebrates the spirit, cuisine and diversity of Bharat, they have remained true to its concept and curated the menu and food keeping our diversity and heritage alive.
The ambience is classic, contemporary and soothing. It has a touch of heritage in the furnishings where every minute detail has been carefully planned with passion and colors are coordinated well to represent different themes from Bharat.
Even the music was a great balance between classical instrumentals with some kind of modern touch to it.
They use the best ingredients of a region and prepare a dish which anybody's palette from another region can enjoy, which is totally commendable.
The names in the menu will leave you impressed with their word play like Bihu-tiful Assam, Kashmir ki Kali, Paan Banaras, Muradabadi Murabba etc. Queen of Tripura makes use of best pineapples found in Tripura, Kashmir ki Kali makes use of spices, Mango Inchi makes use of Inchi made in a particular part of Tamil Nadu. Not just that, tributes are given to people and lanes as well like Chowranghee Lane, Chunnilal ka Sharbat and many more.
For mocktails/cocktails we opted for Paan Banaras, Kashmir ki Kali, Bantai and their special Mango Ginger Sharbat. All the drinks were visually stunning with subtle flavors as they only use natural flavors to make them, for instance, infusing something with Betel Leaf for Paan flavor and using Jaggery instead of Sugar.
We took a platter of assorted starters which included Beet ki Galouti, Tandoori Mushrooms, Paneer Tikka, Kashmiri Gobhi, Subz ke Sikke and Chenna Akhrot ke Kebab, followed by Namkeen Rasmalai ki Chaat and Khamang Kakdi. We really liked all the preparations with Beet ki Galouti and Tandoori Mushrooms being favorites. Rasmalai ki Chaat was another thing which took us by surprise but we happened to love it. Mildly sweet Chenna balls were served over a plate of Farsan Chaat.
Overall food preparations were aesthetic and flavorful, with a special attention given to the accompaniments they go well with.
We also had a Paneer Chettiyar Appam which is one of the best Appam combo I have ever had. The Paneer gravy on the side was perfectly cooked and aromatic as per authentic South Indian standards.
We ended this gastronomic experience with a delicious take on Alwar Milkcake Icecream and a serving of Kong Phirni made of granular makhana pieces into thick mava rabdi. I would definitely recommend that you go for the latter when you visit Bharat Bhavan.
To sum up, Bharat Bhavan promises a casual yet luxury dining experience with 'Bharat' being on top of its priorities...
