Title: A Flavorful Delight: Misal Pav at Shri Kala Snacks Centre, Rasta Peth, Pune
Review: I had the pleasure of savoring the Misal Pav at Shri Kala Snacks Centre in Rasta Peth, Pune, and it was an absolute delight for my taste buds. This humble eatery truly knows how to deliver an authentic and flavorsome experience.
The Misal Pav I tried here was a burst of flavors, perfectly balanced and full of aromatic spices. The thick gravy, made with a medley of sprouts, lentils, and a secret blend of spices, was rich, hearty, and had just the right level of spiciness. The Misal was served piping hot, enhancing the overall taste and ensuring a satisfying experience.
What impressed me the most was the attention to detail in the preparation. The Misal was topped with crispy sev, finely chopped onions, and fresh coriander, adding a delightful crunch and freshness to every bite. The accompanying pav (bread) was soft and fluffy, making for a perfect combination with the spicy Misal. It was evident that the ingredients used were of top quality, which greatly contributed to the overall taste and texture.
The service at Shri Kala Snacks Centre was prompt and friendly. The staff was welcoming and knowledgeable, readily answering any questions and providing recommendations. The ambiance of the place was cozy and inviting, creating a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy the meal.
The portion size was generous, offering great value for money. I left feeling satisfied and content, yet craving more of their delectable Misal Pav. The menu at Shri Kala Snacks Centre also offers a variety of other Maharashtrian delicacies, making it a must-visit spot for food enthusiasts.
Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Shri Kala Snacks Centre to all Misal Pav lovers in Pune. Their Misal Pav is a true representation of the authentic flavors of Maharashtra. With its remarkable taste, attentive service, and inviting ambiance, this eatery is a hidden gem that should not be missed.

Read moreLove the misal here. Whenever we go to Pune, this is our Sunday breakfast place. No need for lunch! If you're on the lookout for an authentic misal- that is sprouts and the works, then this is the only place to go. It opens around 7.30-8am and is open till 1.30-2pm. It serves misal, sabudana khichdi, sabudana wada, curd, etc. The best combo though is misal pav and buttermilk. Buttermilk is chilled and soothes the tongue and the stomach if you're having a spicy misal. There are various spiciness levels that you can choose by adding green chilli paste, in Marathi it is called mirchi cha thecha. It is made of the spiciest green chillies and salt, just as the name suggests. The place around Abba misal is also a good khau galli. The idli batter that you get in the chowk, is so good and fresh, you can also pick their chutney and make idli/dosa at home. That same chowk, also has awesome sabudana wada, murugan idli, wada sambhar, dosas, etc.
Important note: Mind you all this you get in the mornings.
I'll try and remember to click pictures next time I'm there. Since only food is on our minds, we don't carry any phones! Two wheeler parking is manageable, but car is difficult. You might want to park a few lanes before Abba misal if you want to eat peacefully (without being disturbed by other commuters to move your car,...
Read moreThe most famous misal in Peth in Pune is the misal of Kala Snacks Centre-Aba Misalwale.
Aba Misal is in Rasta Peth. This is one of the oldest misal places in Pune.
I have been relishing misal here since 2011. If you try this misal, you will know the difference between other misals and this misal.
Delicious, zingy is the hallmark of this misal. In this misal, a specific sev is used and it also uses prepared poha, potato and fried poha. The misal tarri here is very spicy. This is a great place for those who love spicy food.
As I said above that a different type of shave is used in Misal here, here it is also sold.
Another good thing is that different types of ladoo are sold here. Like Peanut Ladoo, Motichoor Ladoo, Gum Ladoo, Khajoor Ladoo, Khobra Barfi etc. You can try this once, you will like it very much.
Also the sabudana khichdi, buttermilk here is also delicious.
Two-three years ago, the price of Misal here was Rs 70-75. But now it is priced at Rs 60. Sabudana Khichdi is available here for 60 rupees.
Food prices here are a bit high but the food is of good quality.
Try it once and you will like...
