Title: Unpalatable Experience at Greedy Man’s Pizzeria, Baner, Pune
Despite being an ardent pizza lover, it is with heavy-hearted disappointment that I pen down my recent undesirable experience at Greedy Man’s Pizzeria, located in Baner, Pune. Once a fond location, characterized by an array of delightful pizzas, it has now morphed into a custodian of exceedingly poor customer service that particularly left me stunned and offended. A key contributor to this devastation is none other than Shubhankar Dutta, a staff member whose uncouth demeanor strongly detracted from the otherwise enticing ambience.
As crucial as the food quality, a restaurant’s service plays a pivotal role in shaping the overall dining experience. At Greedy Man's Pizzeria, regrettably, the service meter dipped to an extreme low, thanks to Mr. Dutta's unprecedented neglect and impoliteness. His shameful display of hostility, not only with us, but shockingly so with a humble delivery boy, was a spectacle of poor professionalism. It was evident he was venting his frustrations on us, a downright unethical way to handle his personal predicaments.
Mr. Dutta's audacity reached a peak when he raised his voice abnormally, making an unbearably tense scene in a place meant for leisurely dining. The sheer shock of his unprovoked shouting left us embarrassed amidst the crowd of other diners.
Furthering the uncomfortable environment, there was unrequested tension introduced when a straightforward request to our waitress was turned down using an untrue excuse. Being not fond of caramelized onions, I had requested for these to be excluded from my pizza. The reasoning provided for denying this rather simple request was outright perplexing. She stated that her 'manager' had forbidden any modification to the order, an odd statement considering no visible managerial authority was present at the time.
The absurd restriction felt surreal. After all, a pizzeria, or any restaurant for that matter, should be more than capable of adjusting a simple pizza topping as per a patron’s request. More so, using a non-present manager as a scapegoat raised serious doubts about the staff’s professionalism and management's thoughtfulness about customer satisfaction.
My experience at Greedy Man’s Pizzeria was distressing enough to cause hesitancy in planning a return visit. With such bad management and atrocious handling of customers embodied by Mr. Dutta, it becomes strenuously challenging to suggest this pizzeria to others. This bitterness is profoundly regrettable, especially given that such a situation could have been avoided should there have been a slight degree of empathy, patience, and respect for customers.
In essence, while the pizzas might still be commendable if you're lucky, the extreme ill-treatment I encountered makes this establishment a choice I'd advise against. It seems the man’s greed at this pizzeria is not merely for creating delightful pizzas, but for mistreating customers with impunity. Unless urgent remediation occurs in the realms of staff training and customer service, Greedy Man’s Pizzeria may soon be dealing with dwindling patrons.
As customers, we must remind ourselves and others that establishments like these should not be encouraged or supported. There is enough negativity in the world; we do not need our pizza served with a side of hostility...
Read moreVery disappointing experience. First off, the place was poorly lit which is always a turn-off. Call me old-fashioned but I like to be able to see what I'm eating! Tried the Diavoli pizza but it was bare, hardly any toppings at all with some so-called ricotta thrown in. A 12-inch 600-buck pizza is not a steal by any means. Many of the beers on the menu were unavailable. They also don't serve regular water, so you're forced to have bottled water and get charged 20 bucks per 15-buck bottle of Kinley! And finally, the reason for dropping that rating from 2 to a single star? The person who took our order made a mistake and got us an extra beer bottle which we returned unopened. He said ok, took it back, and finally when we asked for the bill he tells us that he's already billed us for the beer and if we didn't take it he would have to pay for it from his pocket! We explained to him that he had gotten the order wrong. As we didn't want him to pay for it either (as the bottle was returned unopened!), we asked to speak to the manager so that we could explain the issue directly to him. At this point the guy just said that it's ok and left. After some more waiting we got the bill, settled...

Putting all timeline speculations to rest, Greedy Man finally opened doors to the public yesterday. And we decided to go cover it on Day 1 itself!
Great ambiance, cool decor. Loved the wood fire oven in the corner, gives us an opportunity to dekko inside.
Tried the Jalapeno Salsa and Cheddar Cheese Fries. Nice crunchy fries but felt it too sour for my taste. My co-foodies loved it however.
Margherita was amazing as usual, but the sauce could've been richer.
Jerk Chicken had tender chunks of chicken but lacked any spice really. More of the jerk sauce, maybe?
The Hipster was the best of the lot. Delicious cheesy and generously topped with chicken. Opted for the one without spinach (shudder!!)
Spotted the Cheesecake sitting pretty on the menu, and in the display unit and immediately made me wanna try it. Good in taste but could've been a tad more moist.
The Waffle Sundae with ice cream and cotton candy sounded tempting. Looked gorgeous and tasted equally delish. Good combination of the sweet cotton candy with the cold ice cream and warmish waffle.
Service was quite prompt and the servers seemed...
