Wadeshwar, Baner
Saturday afternoon lunch - This was my first visit to a South Indian restaurant in a bloggers table and happy that it was Wadeshwar😊 I have always visited them with my family when we needed to grab some quick bites while passing thru’ Baner road. Located bang opposite Maratha Samraat, they have snagged a prime spot on Baner road.
What did I order and eat?
Beverages:-
Lemon Iced Tea – Enjoyed this drink the way regular tea was substituted With Some Fresh lemons and ice cubes. Kokum Sharbath – Kokum juice or kokum sharbat is a popular Goan summer coolant and this drink was well prepared. Hot Chocolate – Surprise element. I loved the way the Hot Chocolate was served , where we could literally dip the chocolate along with the powder and have a really yummy drink 😊 Filter Coffee – Having it in a glass just gave it a special feeling and made it better any day.
Main Dishes:-
Podi Idli - I really wanted to try this at Wadeshwar, being a South Indian and fan of molagapodi. Cute Little idlis loaded with gunpowder. Super tasty. Absolutely loved it, but yes, the podi was a little sweet and little salt could have been added.
Kothimbir wadi – This was my go-to dish for the afternoon. Perfectly made, super yummy, highly recommended. The surprise element was that I never thought this place would have this Maharashtrian Dish and that too done so well.
Cheese Dosa – This is another dish where I just loved the soft dosa and the yummy cheese spread all over. For a change, this time I loved the Chutney so much, as usually I am not that much of a chutney person. The coconut chutney was just yummy and I could gulp the entire Dosa with it. If you are a fan of Udupi Mangalore style Sambar, Wadeshwar has the perfect sambar for you!
Set Dosa – Another simple basic South Indian Khana which is highly recommended.
Pani Puri – The twist in the tale was this wonderful Chat items which they were serving. I had never tried these items before, on the assumption that why try Chat in south Indian restaurant. But I was wrong, these guys offer very good Chat items which is really mouth watering.
SPDP – This was very basic item according to me in the chat variety, but I still felt like eating something totally homemade and enjoyed it.
Pineapple Ksheera – This is a very common South Indian sweet which is served in weddings, birthdays and any small occasions. If you ask me how is this dish, I will say, Perfect and Bang On!
Ambience - As the restaurant is on the street side with open spaces around and airy spots with an inviting entrance, there is ample space for lot of people to sit.
I realized that they definitely have quite a bit popularity. There was a constant waiting from 12.30 pm till 3 pm that I stayed , and it just increased when by 1:30 in the afternoon. Be prepared to wait if you are walking in during weekend.
I have always loved to eat at Wadeshwar, especially their Set dosas, Mini Idlis, Onion Uttapas are some of the best delicacies. Have been eating there since the time Baner Branch has been operational and have loved their consistency in food taste, quality and friendly service. They now have a very elaborate lunch menu which has lot of options for both South Indian and North Indian dishes , thali and other exclusive items If you are coming over to Baner and want to have South Indian and North Indian combination of dishes, U definitely must try Wadeshwar once! 😊
Thanks to the Wadeshwar management and Hungernation to invite me over for this wonderful lunch experience along with some...

My favorite place for many things. I have really enjoyed their food for many years at their FC road & Law College road outlets. This was our go to place for podi idli and set dosa cravings. Rather, I got introduced to Podi Chutney through this place in my initial college days. We have had the privilege to grow up admiring these amazing and legendary restaurants. Very few restaurants are able to connect with you and this is one of them. Even after ages It still feels nostalgic whenever I pass by any wadeshwar. Any outlet you go, the place is always clean, airy and refreshing.
What did we feast on? I started with Kokum Sharbat and it was good. Not very water, had good kokum agal. Nicely done!
Then came in the new entrants- *Pineapple Sheera, the Sheera I was craving for long. I enjoy pineapple and Sheera in general. I was excited to try this one. When it came to my our table, literally ghee was oozing out of the sheera, the sight was tempting 😍 the texture was nice soft, buttery (full of ghee) and mouth-watering. I'm sure one cannot stop themselves from having this. It was made using fresh pineapple chunks and same can be encountered after a few bites. Woo.. I feel like having it right now 😋😅
*Hot Chocolate, hot milk with chocolate flavors. Not a chocolate fan but I enjoyed this one as it wasn't very sweet. Inspite of chocolate being used, it wasn't extremely sweet which I thought was the best part about it. One could get good taste of chocolate in each sip. Also the milk was not watery, it helped getting needed richness in the drink along with the chocolate. Extra sugar is served for all the sweetness lovers with this.glass of hot chocolate 😊
Rest All Time Favorites 😊 *Podi Idli, then came my favorite mini idlis sauted in podi chutney. The podi used in this prep is little granular than the fine powder usually served with set dosa. I really like the crunch it gives to the dish as a whole.
*Set Dosa, then came the spongy and soft set dosa. Yes, wadeshwar's set dosa is similar to Tendlya's straight drive. Beyond perfect!
*Kothimbir Wadi, Typical Maharashtrian prep which is is an ideal anytime snack for everyone. If ever you are offered to have this, Avoid saying no🤣
*SPDP, Pani Puri & Cheese Uttapam served over tasting were equally good 😊
Overall, I cannot get enough of this place. Never can I get over their food and my new favorites are Pineapple Sheera &...
Read moreWadeshwar has always had a special place in my heart. Without giving a second thought, we would always choose Wadeshwar for their popular and delectable South Indian delicacies or their famous Filter Coffee. Now, Wadeshwar has something more exciting and novel to offer. Wadeshwar is located in the hot spots of Pune, which makes it more approachable. The Baner outlet is located on the main road, which makes it easily accessible. It is two-storeyed with ample of space. I appreciate that the entire staff is strictly following and taking all Covid related precautions with respect to regular sanitization.
These are the novel and interesting ones which are a must try:
Pineapple Sheera – I was awe-struck when I had this Pineapple Sheera. It is freshly made with plentiful ghee. It is so delicious that I can keep on having it. The highlight of this Sheera is the little chunks of pineapple and raisins, which come after every other bite. This luscious dessert is an indulgence in itself. I liked this dessert a lot because it had balanced the sweetness perfectly.
Hot Chocolate – This glass of goodness is introduced recently on Valentine's Day and I am sure it will be loved by all and why not? The consistency of was just superb making it a thick and creamy chocolaty delight. You also get a chocolate along with it to dip into it and enjoy. Please do not miss to have this. I am so glad that I can enjoy the delicacies of Wadeshwar and end it on a sweet note. Here, my quest to go to a cafe specifically ends.
Most of you are already aware of the South Indian dishes and these new variants would surely tantalise your tastebuds.
I truly am fond of every outlet of Wadeshwar. I have literally seen the amount of efforts they take to maintain quality and hygiene with regular rotation of staff, making fresh rounds of chutney and Sambar, courteous staff, lip-smacking and consistent quality and excellent locations. The Pineapple Sheera and Hot Chocolate are highly recommended and you would definitely enjoy it...
