While the ambience of Kothi Pushkar was artistic and immersive, the pleasantness of arts, potteries and canvases on showcase at Nutmeg Cafe were equally opulent. The art cafe was excitingly beautiful and wrapped in the goodness of plants and trees, decorated with arts by so many people visiting the place and staying over, especially those who have come from far off countries. Some as far as Europe and North America. While I was excited to do some painting while sipping on coffee and biting on some lovely cheesy garlic bread the next morning, my excitement faded questionably after having dinner there the previous night. We checked into the hotel at around 9.45 PM as the whole town fell silent and everything was almost shut. We were too tired to walk anywhere and therefore, we decided to have our dinner at this quaint cafe where a couple foreign families who have come all the way from France were seated having their food. We ordered Ravioli in Pomodoro sauce, Cheese Balls with Tomato Sauce, A Jeera Rice and Dal Makhani Combo, Steamed Rice, and Dry Chilly Paneer. The Ravioli was absolutely delicious, drowned in that moreish, tangy, fragrant and buttery Pomodoro Sauce with a good a hit of all the herbs to make a good Sauce. Dare I say it was the dish of the day for how perfectly it was cooked and tasted. The cheese balls were great as well except where they were too greasy and felt almost store bought to me and while it seemed like Tomato sauce it was obvious that it was Tomato Ketchup. So yeah, nothing extraordinary but nothing worth remembering about it too. While the comforting taste of Jeera Rice and Dal Makhani was homely and cosy it was short lived especially for its quantity. In fact, so little quantity, it would be just enough for a few months old baby. And while the question may arise if the amount of Dal Makhani or Rice wasn’t enough, why order more steam rice? Mind you, that the steamed rice was to fill our bellies by eating it with our home-bought pickles since the Dal Makhani on its own was of high cost and not exactly worth ordering once again. Now, comes the most disappointing and infuriating dish of all, the Chilly Paneer. It looked unusually soulfully generous to look at and very very delicious looking, but one bite of that Paneer, it wasn’t Paneer. It was Adulterated or Fake Paneer and trust me, I know it straightaway, because it was just so rubbery, almost as if I was chewing on a tire or a rubber tube. It was unusual firm and too smooth. It didn’t taste like paneer at all. Doesn’t have that rich and salty and creamy taste. Or that crumbly and tender texture as Paneer should. We wanted to complain, but we were too tired to wait for their response or even expect another half apology with nothing they can do for us in return further infuriating us. There were barely any staff members. Just two members running the shop who seem rather new to the job or can’t do anything about anything. There is good variety in the menu but everything becomes questionable after getting that Fake Paneer which is why didn’t bother ordering anymore or leaving out an entire dish. The prices were just as high as any moderately nice restaurant. You could visit this cafe for your morning beverage with a very very safe snack but I’m not sure to recommend this place to anyone even if it is inside one of the best hotels of Pushkar. Please stay vigilant while ordering any Paneer dish anywhere. If you find it firmy, very chewy, rubbery, and doesn’t taste like your regular paneer, it’s fake. 2.5 stars as a...

Read more🎨 A really cool idea! Beyond serving food and drinks, they offer creative expression for anyone interested! It’s a very nice setting and away from the main road, offering a peaceful retreat and opportunity to create/express yourself, Very reasonable prices too. Good art supplies, they gave me fresh colours if asked, I used some of my own things such as fine line pens. :)
🙌 The staff were overall friendly and helpful. I often had a fruit juice which were always good and tried a slush, the slush was very sweet and refreshing! They also provided an extension cord so I could use my laptop. Kuldeep tried his best to understand me and some other foreigners, he would get assistance if needed and did a great job! Sanjay and another staff member with a mustache were super friendly, talkative and kind! Hersh, I believe the manager, spoke great English, did his best to make me feel comfortable, even said he could get me a light when painting after the sun went down and told me to feel at home, he was very kind and everyone was interested and supportive about the art I was doing. I think I met the owner who was also very accommodating and kind. The last two times I went, the attitude seemed to change, every time I came to do my paintings I would order at least a drink but maybe there was some upset, maybe because I took multiple sessions to finish them, I was over charged for juice and the 'feel at home' attitude just seemed to change from Hersh. Maybe he had a bad day, I'm not sure, no harsh feelings, just altered the very positive experience I initially had, hence the mixed review.
😋 I also ordered Idli and was told it was vegan which is great, it is the tastiest Idli I’ve ever had! I ordered it multiple times :) It would be great to see more vegan and gluten free options on the menu. Overall a nice experience, namaste and...
